Jercoupe Posted June 16, 2008 #2 Posted June 16, 2008 I just purchased a Signal Dynamics light bar for the back of my scoot. http://signaldynamics.com/products/LightBars/red15ulb_sm.jpg So, where do you wire it into the brake/running lights? Thanks, Bob Just installed the same one on my new venture.. Wires are easy right behind the licence plate and you wont notice the wire comming up behind the bar..When i hooked it up according to signals directions all the lights were on for tail lights. I prefer to only have the three leds on for running and all lighting up for brake. just reverse the wires.
M61A1MECH Posted June 16, 2008 #3 Posted June 16, 2008 Bob Here is a write up I did for the STAR Touring web site on how I installed my light bar. Signal Dynamics light bar install 1. Remove the driver and passenger seats. 2. Splice wires to each of the leads from the light bar using inline splices wrap each splice with electrical tape or cover with heat shrink. 3. Wrap the wires with spiral wrap or other type of chaff protection. 4. Remove the two rear facing plastic rivets that are holding the rubber covers to the helmet locks. 5. Attach the light bar to the helmet lock mounts using spacers (.70" diameter and .90" long), 10-32 screws, nuts, lock washers and washers. You may need to open up the mount holes of the light bar slightly to accept the 10-32 screws. Tighten securely 6. Route the harness between the under side of the trunk and the “black box” leaving approximately 12 inches of slack. 7. Coil the slack under the trunk and secure with tie wraps. 8. Route the wire harness along the top of the rear fender with the existing harnesses. 9. On the left side of the seat pan area there is a rubber grommet, cut an “X” in the grommet to route the wires through the grommet. 10. In the area under the driver’s seat locate the white connector that contains the rear turn, running and brake lights. 11. Connect the wires from the light bar as follows. a. White to ground or battery negative. b. Green (high) to the yellow wire (brake light) c. Brown (low) to the Blue (tail light) 12. Turn on the key, check for operation of the light bar. 13. Replace the passenger and driver seat.
