The Problem...

My 07 RSV ran good (not great) most days, until a 100 to 150 mile break/rest, after the 15 to 30 min. break the bike seemed sluggish and sometimes similar to a dead cylinder. Sometimes if the ride was early morning, a damp day or late evening, the problem seemed to self heal. Having a somewhat mechanical background and reading all the posts, I flushed the carbs, did Sea Foam and a carb sync, but the problem remained the same and seemed linked to heat and humidity.

The problem was very similar to a coil breaking down and I almost stopped by the dealer to purchase a coil. I did a search on coils and found the post by V 7 Goose listed below.

Following "Gooses" instructions I found #3 cylinder plug cap with a resistance of 13k and the brass disc being black (not green or corroded) with the spring shinny as new, # 1,2 and 4 cylinder caps were like new. I cleaned the black disc and applied Di -Electric Grease to all contact areas of springs, discs, resistors and screws of all 4 caps. All had a resistance of 8-9k after cleaning and grease.

400 Miles later.........Again...."Thanks Goose":thumbsup::clap2::dancefool:

$12.00 per year..........How much for a coil??????

The many knowledgeable and helpful people here have saved many of us RSV riders a lot of money, time and effort in sharing their knowledge and skills when it comes to our bikes. They must have the patience of Jobe to re-explain over and over the same questions posed by so many..

I met Goose and wow, the guy knows his bikes and very helpful.. Kudos to the gentleman from Texas.

One of these days I'm gonna meet up with some of you at one of these Maintenance Days ;)

V 7 Goose has helped me also as he has helped others. If he gives you a hint to fix a problem, you can take it to the bank.

Y'all are too kind - y're making me blush! I'm very glad I was able to provide information that you found useful. I'm not much for the chit chat stuff, but I do enjoy technology and mechanical things. Seems like e4verything is a puzzle to be worked out, which I enjoy. But after I find the answer, I like to share it too. Ride safe!

A gentleman and a scholar.. Kevin and I will treat you to a good steak supper next time we're down.. (next spring lol) We almost made it down there again this year but weather (tornado threats) kept us out of the area..

Cheers
