FROG MAN Posted June 6, 2007 #2 Posted June 6, 2007 Pull the side panel off on the shifter side and unhook and clean the white connector pins coming from the pickup coils. They are probably rusty or corroded. If thats not it could be a wet TCI module.
GeorgeS Posted June 6, 2007 #3 Posted June 6, 2007 It has 6 wires going thru it. This has been a very common trouble point. If you have to pull the TCI out, its a bigger job. #3 allen head Screws from botom of the TCI, Very Limited Access to the Screws. Usually you have to Pull the Battery Box, and Air Cleaner Box to get them out. But that does not mean is can't be done without pullin the box's. If you have to pull the TCI, take top cover OFF, and put in Oven at about 105 to 110 Degres F. for about 2 hours, to dry out the Moisture, On Reassembly be sure to Seal it up. also Check to See if your Cables to the TCI are Long Enough to reach, the top of Air Cleaner Cover. Lot of folks Relocate the tCI to the Top of the Air Cleaner, for Easy ACCess.
V7Goose Posted June 7, 2007 #4 Posted June 7, 2007 Plug wires do NOT last forever. I'd bet you are just loosing spark through bleed to ground through the insulation. Replace the plug wires and all will be well. Goose
