    Thanks for the tip on the Sketchup program. Down loaded it this afternoon. Nice! I've been wanting to lay out some drawings of a couple things I've been playing with making and this will do the trick. I'm a tightwad and didn't want to spent a bunch on a bottom end CAD program so this will do nicely. I get the feeling I might be up for a while tonight. New toy ya know. Beats watching the er......S**W! Yikes! Winter has arrived! Mike

    It was 15 degrees F when I left for work yesterday morning. Before I was ready to head home it had started up with some light flurries. Got some strange looks on the way home in the afternoon. It was high 20's today and not too bad out. But, looking at the forecast for Saturday.....might be the end of my season here. It's supposed to start raining around 1 AM and then turn to snow through Sunday. Once they start with the liquid salt they are using the bike stays in the garage. Been a good run this year. Started riding mid March and it's December 2nd today. Not bad for a Nebraska riding season. Eight months around here is pretty decent. Not to mention the gas money I saved not driving the car. Only put about 200 miles on it this summer and that was only in the last few weeks. Mike

    Wally World has the "Burner" line that has several different models to choose from. I used to have the round chrome ones on my '84 before I installed the 4 1/2 inch housings. They have a model that you might like. It was a retangular light at 65 watts each with replaceable bulbs. Same watt power as I had and they are bright. About $20.00 bucks for the set. I have the upgraded stator so they mever bothered me for power drain. I think I had them before the stator but I can't remember for sure. They held up well anyway, still got em on the shelf. Mike

    I have the spin-on adaptor on my '84. Nice mod. Makes oil changes as simple as you can get. Easy to install and just a few minutes to swap a filter. And there are several filters you can choose from. As far as cutting down the side covers, I don't think it's needed for cooling as much as it is a personal choice for looks. Being a water cooled motor temps will be about the same opened up or closed over. I have the side covers with the insert to close off the holes along with the lower chin over the spin-on and no issues with the engine running hot in any weather.

    There are few of the Hoss's in my area. I see one with a LONG front end on it about every week and a couple of trikes now and then. The guy on the bike has a big grin on his face on the road but in the parking lots he looks a bit tense. It seems to be a bit to handle in the turns. But given the chance to have one for a day........I'd be all over that!!! Mike

    I use my Canon Scanner every day to scan and e-mail my order and route forms. Using the software from the scanner (CanoScan) each page , 8 1/2 X 11, done in .PDF format is only 51.2 kb. A full color shot at 8 1/2 X 11 done at 400 dpi is only 168 kb. There must be another setting you can select, I'd hope. Mike

    I'm not sure what they are calling an AGM if they are listing an acid pack with it. Not an AGM for sure. I've seen a lot of batteries listed as GEL and AGM with fill holes and they were blowing smoke big time. As far as Die Hard, a friend of mine owns a service center and he showed me some stats a while back that surprised me. The Die Hards used to be a top of the line battery. Not so much any more. They were pretty close to the bottom of the list for reliablity. He stopped carrying the Interstate brand at his business also as the quality had dropped so badly over the last couple of years. I had a dealer tell me once that a lead/acid could be mounted in ANY position as long as the cell caps were on tight. Do I do business with this dealer? Not any more. LOL!! Mike

    I carried a S&W model 9 for years. Moved to the Ruger P90 .45 a few years back. Loved the feel of S&W and was happy with it but wanted a heavier caliber. The P90 is a nice piece but barely concealable. I looked at the SR9C and used it at the range but I got to say, if you have big hands....... it will probably bite ya. Double handed grip can be a little tricky if you want to keep all your skin. I used to concern myself with how much ammo I had loaded. I finally realized if I needed more than one shot I needed more practice. But these days that depends on how many targets you have. As stated, these are all different animals. Whatever is comfortable in YOUR hand is the one that you will be happy with. Mike

    I have not had a chance to make any long trips this summer due to work demands but still managed to add up over 8,000 miles on my '84 with 63,000 miles this year with ZERO problems. In the past I changed out the fuse panel, the OEM R/R for the new Shindengen unit, the DEKA AGM battery and added a digital voltmeter for monitoring the charging system. These changes elimintated most of my real concerns of the possible failures on a trip. Off couse, some upgrades to the headlight and adding decent driving lights for visability day and night would be a plus to if not already done. Theses bike love the open road and will run all day and all night without a hickup if maintained properly. I'd head out anywhere on mine with little concern. Mike

    Ok, for what we know at this point. Her dental situation is good. She has always had excellent teeth with no issues. Even her dentist has commented that she is one of the very few that he has had that never needed braces or anything else. She has no signs of wear from grinding her teeth. From the times I've seen her sleeping she seems to be a very relaxed sleeper and I've never seen any sign of unusual jaw movement. Don't ask me how many cotton balls I've dropped into that gaping maw to entertain myself while she's bagged out in MY spot on the couch. The question kept coming up about accidents or injuries to her head or face. Only one thing was on our minds. She was a victim of a rather severe assualt of couple of years back at the hands of two teenage boys. One an ex boyfriend that didn't get the message that "I don't want to see you anymore" meant just that. She was mess of bruises and swelling from being hit and kicked for several days but the medical folks said there was nothing broken. But now, they are thinking this may have been the beginning of this problem. Just a possibility. But with the meds she is doing fine for now and it has not locked up since that night. So .... some more tests to come and see what the next step is. Thanks to all for your info and input. Information is always helpful. Mike

    Got caught in a couple situations last year where snow had started up before I left work. By the time I left for home there some buildup on the streets but more slush than hard pack in most places. With the weight of the bike and my sandbag butt on it traction was not an issue, but more like keeping it pointed in the right direction. I do love my Venoms, but I would prefer a tire with a lot more tread on it if I had to take to the snowy streets on a regular basis. Not really in my plans.

    Yeah! Been a heck of a year here. Been on the bike every day since late March this year. Drove my car once to work in all that time as they predicted snow, and snow it did. The big sideways stuff. I showed up at work the other morning when the temps were at 25 F. My boss asked my why I was on the bike. I asked him why he was wearing a parka. As long as the roads dry clear I'm pushing for a long, long riding season this year. Mike

    Ha! He thinks he's leaving. Ya know we will be looking for ya right. I got to say your choice for a new bike is a good one. It is an impressive ride. I sincerely hope it brings you many fine miles of enjoyable riding. But I think you know you will always still be a member here in mind if not in body. We aren't going to forget who you are.     On Monday my 19 year old daughter mentioned her jaw had felt like it was catching, kind of sticking in place a couple times during the day. I checked her over and found no swelling or anything odd. I told her to quit distending her jaw when she eats, (you have never seen her eat, I call her Gator), and we just laughed it off. On Tuesday afternoon she sent me a message from her work that her jaw had locked shut and she couldn't open it. Five minutes later she sent another message that it had unlocked and was better. I started to make plans to get her into the Doc the next day. I'm thinking signs of a Tentanus infection, lock jaw, at this point. Not cool. At ten last night she sent another message that it had locked again and she hurt real bad and she could feel her teeth grinding. I geared up and headed out to where she worked. When I got there she looked like a pissed off badger. Cute, but not funny. Told her to grab her stuff and we where headed to the emergency room. Her boss rolled in and told me she still had a couple hours left on her shift. My question to him was "do you want to go with us, or do you want to get out my way?" He backed off. I'll deal with that twit later. BUT......good news was it was not Tenanus. It was something I'd never heard of. This TMJ Syndrome. Problem where the joints on the jaw bone attaches to the skull, either caused by degeneration of the joints, not likely in a 19 year old, or from a past injury. Well we pretty much nailed down what that injury was. I've done my research and we are dealing with the care of it now. My question is has anyone dealt with this syndrome over a period of time and what might we expect? Just curious. Mike
