After the big flush and washdown last night and hanging it from a tree to dry there is only a minor looking oily stain on the flooring . The smell of lighting fluid still lingers so I'll try the recommended cleaning product The sealing tape on the ground liner is blistered off where most the fluid damage was. After another cleaning and drying again its off to Canfields for a roll of seam tape to make sure it all stays together. The sleeping pad has the same oily looling stain on part of it but not seeing any damage. Yet. I added a lil air to it last night and stacked my pack and cooler on top of it. Still fully inflated. I was just hoping the fluid didnt get through the outer covering into the foam filler. This is the first self inflating pad ive owned and grown rather fond of it. Life should return to normal by tonight. Depending on the smell. The rain bypassed us last night so I didnt have to bunk up with the Marines. That probably would have resulted on much beer drinking and another problem with fumes. Hoorah Marines! Thanks for the field support! Congrats on the 1st ride. That 1st one can be fun even on paved roads. I bought mine in a similar situation back in 2006 and thanks to the guys here im getting close to 80k now as a daily rider. The last year ive moved to a rural area, I prefer the word remote, where the only way to a paved road is3 miles of limerock road. Its a day to celebrate when the county grader shows up after a storm to fill the washouts and add that new 8" ridge of rock down the road to add to my riding enjoyment. Take care. Yeah puc. My epic journey started many years ago. Part of that was a great deal of time spent in the bitterroot valley south of Missoula, mt. Should have made that my homebase instead of coming back to nebraska. This last year has been an adventure in itself. Many life changes. The last one was about a month or so ago I found myself strapped to a bed in an ICU . Thats a wake up call that you still have things to do. Time to get out for a while. I have a special bond with a my oldest friend I grew up with. We were both very different people but always stuck together. He joined the corp right after high school and stayed in over 20 some years. One night he annouced I was an honorary jarhead. I asked why and he reminded me of a brawl in a bar back in the '80. Yeah, sure. So what? "I wasn't winning until you jumped in". So I got the title anyway. So onward and forward right?

Yeah. Even after being flushed out with a LOT of water the smell is going to be an issue to deal with. Get this thing dried out tomorrow and i'll give that product a try.

Hey ya puc. Hell ive been living in the boonies for the last year. For the last two weeks ive been visiting the different state parks in eastern and southern nebraska on my bike pulling the trailer. Ya know. Hanging out with civilization. So they call it. I was headed back up towards omaha to hit the storage locker and repack for the next leg where ever that may turn out to be. Since I posted that the ranger stopped by with a couple other campers. A couple of retired marines. They not be happy with what happened. They bought some more water and helped flush it out again and got it hanging to dry. Looks like its gonna get another rinse cycle tonight. Have the rain fly over the picnic table and an offer of bunk with the jarhead bunch if it turns nasty. Its nice to know I got the corps at my back. Semper fi guys. Ive had a good trip and all I can figure is I got a spot somebody else wanted. Never had a problem at a campground in all my travels. Just hope the equipment survives.

Had an unfriendly camp neighbor apparenty. Came back to camp site today to find my tent and sleeping pad had been sprayed with what appears to be lighting fluid. Been flushing it out with soapy water and trying to dry it in the sun. Its already effected the sealing tape on the ground cover. Any suggestions on how to neutralize the fluid to avoid any damage? This chaps my hide as this is a new Alps Lynx and new self inflating pad. Talked with the rangers and they were helpful but not much they can do. Looks like a night under the stars until the fumes clear out. Oh goody .look. lightening. Geesh. Any suggestions? Other than dont smoke in there.lol.

Two things I might mention if its a drift 170. In the directions it mentions the disconect procedure to remove the power cord while charging. Be sure to power it down before removing that cord. If you dont it may well fry the display screen. The camera will still function but the display screen will go a bright white with no display of functions. Kinda hard to make adjustments. Also......to protect that fisheye lens check out the ragecam.com site for a protective lens sleeve for the 170. Saved my lens a couple of times now. I like my drift but it does have a couple weak spots.

I have the one like you showed. Basically an zipped in pocket. I have a tom tom 550 in it. So far so good with one exception. When it gets hot and humid or direct sunlight on a hot day it over heats the tom tom and I have to pull it out and let it cool off so the display comes back. Baggy over cover on the worst of heavy rains. Glad bob got ya some studs. His are so much prettier than the ones I made.

Got about four years on mine now. Been absolutely problem free. Paired it up with the Shindengen a couple years ago. Perfect set-up.

I usually have the bike parked between the camper and the Lincoln to break up the wind as much as i can. I keep leaning into the wind pretty well and have never had a problem with it rocking to even cause me concern. That lil wind storm was a complete surprise for these parts. Steady winds of 30-40 MPH were almost everyday riding conditions this season. This one hit early morning right after drive time and did a lot of damage. The thing i know that caused the problem was still having the full cover on it at the time. Hoist the main sail matey! There she blows! If I'd had any idea of the intensity of the storm she would have been facing into the wind without the cover. (And I'd probably been sitting on the bike with my raingear and full face bucket on.) Those pics are just within the last month or so. Out here in the boonies about 35 miles south of Omaha off of hwy 50. Where IM at is about 4 miles down limerock roads to find any pavement. And thanks. I bought that bike in 2006 pretty close to a basket case. It was a one owner when i got it. Been stored indoors for 9 years by the PO's son. Took it apart and rebuild everything. Got 72k miles on her today and gets ridden almost every day. She's been a heck of a bike. Just ain't made for off road ya know. I'd feel better if the made a knobby with a decent sidewall rating. BTW love that WLA ya got. I could use the scabbard out this way. Got plenty of wild life. Anyway back to the original show................ Month or so ago i got a good taste of 70 - 80 MPH winds out at where I'm at. Bike was outside with a full cover on it. Knocked it over and slid it sideways on the limerock drive so it was wedged under the back bumper of the camper. Got a neighbor to help me drag it backwards to get it away from the camper and stand it back up. The only real damage was the windscreen where it slammed the bumper. Not a scratch on the fairing or the mirror. Ive been down on the bike on these rocky muddy roads now twice and the only damage I've had to deal with was the two chrome grilled covers for the mini baron lights on the rear bumper. Lens was undamaged. My HO stator wasn't Ricks but i had to use thicker washers on the three bolts to get it tightened properly. The OEM bolts wouldn't seat deep enough to set properly. Haven't had a problem since in over 3 years now. From my Droid wherever I may happen to be at any given moment.

Ah geesh. LOL. Just got my notice my new tire is "out for delivery". And of course it's raining. Again. And the new tire is an E3. Guess I'm gonna find out. Hard to scuff up a new tire and make decent chicken strips in the rain. From my Droid wherever I may happen to be at any given moment.

If you came off a well worn tire, as from your pics it appears you did, your back in heaven. Getting off a flattened center section back onto a round one is a huge change. I can't compare other brands after being on Avon's since 2006 but they will tell you quickly if you've lost even a few pounds pressure. Feel changes quickly from nimble to gonna dance. But IMHO the only tire pressure on a Venom to use is the recommended pressure on the sidewall. Got 20k miles out of mine. Enjoy them. Your wife has good taste in tires. Hey Arron. Welcome to the site. Repairing and reconditioning TCIs is a touchy business even more so with a cracked or broken board. I did some minor solder repairs several years ago on one and it held up well until the day it gave up the ghost. Buying a used one can be a gamble too. Never know what you might get. We used to have a member Herr than did reconditioning work but that was several years back. The hot ticket these days is a complete unit with an install kit to replace the old TCI with modern technology complete with software and interface capabilities to patch to a laptop for personal adjustments. Our member "Dingy" can provide you with what you need and offers support for the unit as well. For a Tad over $200.00 you can bypass all the grief and headaches of trying to make an obsolete item work like new. Search here "Ignitech"(?) Or tci upgrade to find more info or PM Dingy about them. The Venons really sold me during the few years here when summer was nothing but wet roads. Great traction and control. Had an experienced rider class here where it had been raining on and off the whole day. One part of the course was against the clock through a set of tight turns and left and right sweepers on an asphalt surface. My rear broke loose in a sweeper and kicked out but hooked right back up when i rolled off the throttle. Two other bikes went down. Some refused to ride the course and one even called his wife to bring a trailer to pick him up. I was over talking to the instructor and saw most the guys standing around my bike. Granted it was the only Yamaha there, the only bike well over 5 years old closer to three decades and certainly not the best looking bike there. They were all checking out the Venoms and the thread pattern. I wasn't the only one impressed with them that day From my Droid wherever I may happen to be at any given moment.

OK. I gotta ask. Found an E3 on the JW site. Listed as a MU90B-16 (78H) My Venom is 140/90-16 71H. My mind says its the right tire fit but when i search model it only shows fitting '86 and up.
