  1. I'm getting an Echo Echo Echo Echo in here. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?threadid=74521 Must be the turkey turkey turkey turkey talkin'. Me again,
  2. Yep, I do. I got 25,000 miles out of my first set, (and I ran them to the end) at 50 lbs. I'm into my second set now since last spring. I'm 265 myself and keep a close eye on pressure. I do run solo most the time and try to keep the twist out of the wrist. Not real good at that. Living in Nebraska I have to look for roads where I can wear down the edges to keep it rounded off. It's like 285 miles with 11 curves around here. It's tough to kill a chicken strip here in the middle of corn country. As far as performance on wet roads...... nuttin better in my books. Mike
  3. First thing to try would be a good dose of Sea Foam in the fuel. It may not solve all the issues but it will help a LOT on cleaning out any grunge than is clogging the needles and jets. Some have had extremely good results with this product on bikes that have been neglected. Myself included. Always a good step before pulling the carbs. And even doing a carb sync will help with popping and smoothness. Worth a shot. And welcome to the site. Mike

  5. All you need to send to Dano is the rotor itself and the shim/washer that is under the old engage clutch. Everything else in the mod is provided by Dano. The new and completely different engage clutch with the new ring gear to match the engage clutch. He machines the new mounting holes and aligns the engage with new hardware. Mike
  6. Some of you may remember the Rune listed on eBay a year or so ago with a $1,000,000 price tag. But it had free shipping!! I'm pretty sure it was one of those days when the wifey said "It goes or I go." Guy made an effort. He listed it. Even listed it twice as there were no takers. It's a guy thing. "Sorry Honey, I tried! I really did. I'm gonna miss ya." Mike
  7. One of my weak spots. Always wanted to have one, or two in the stable. I ran across a nice one two years ago for $2,000 and missed it by 10 minutes. It will happen........ eventually. Mike
  8. Man, Gary, my mind is reeling right now. Looking forward to watching all this come into its own. This should be fun to watch. Mike
  9. Power should not have been a problem. The one I test rode was a trip to twist on. Easy to forget how fast you you were going and not hard to get there.....at all! And clunky shifting seems to be the norm from what I've been told by owners. Still, it's not a V4. What a shame. Mike
  10. Best of luck on a nice quiet ride. Hope you got it beat. Mike
  11. That's just it. They have had several investors and other operations interested in taking over the company at different times over the last few years. But because of all the bickering and stalemates with the unions they have backed out. One top company stated clearly that if any of the unions went on strike they were out. Well, you see how well that worked out. It was tough watching some of the guys leave today. Some have been there for over 20 years. Some of the unions have given up a lot to keep the company going and keep their jobs while other unions would not give an inch. What a mess. Mike
  12. Looks like a possibility that about 18,000 people are going to be out of jobs over this situation with IBC, Hostess and Wonder. You can always find something to snack on but jobs are getting hard to come by.
  13. Hey Ray, My '84 has the same issues........... once in a great while. It starts great for a long time then settles into a slow decline into hard starting. Over the last 5 years it has boiled down to one of two failing items. The spark plugs need to be replaced. The diaphragms have developed another leak. It's mostly the plugs needing to be fresh or every now and then I find another hole in a diaphragm. Fix either problem and it's right back to a touch of the button start. Hope you find a simple fix on yours. Mike
  14. This is another one that's been floating around lately. ADP is a legit payroll service but the links lead you elsewhere and load ya up with malware. I've received three from them in the last four days. Your Transaction Report(s) have been uploaded to the web site: ( Deleted) Please note that your bank account will be debited within one banking business day for the amount(s) shown on the report(s). 15. Let me know what you find out Wayne. Been hashing over the idea of the Progressive rear spring myself. Mike
  16. Try here? http://www.progressivesuspension.com/prodSearchResults.aspx?yearID=1984&makeID=48&modelID=529 Mike
  17. Just a thought on that buzzing. If the bolts are loose enough that you can move the stator by hand it's likely that the magnetic pull of the magnets in the rotor are causing the stator to shift, or vibrate as you're seeing no sign of contact. It's been a few years since I installed the Buckeye upgrade in my '84 but I remember installing new bolts and washers on the stator, and blue Loctite. As it sounds like it's been a bit since you installed the upgrade the bolts may not have been tight enough and worked loose a bit. Mike
  18. Nice job! Looks great. I hated the exposed, loose wires when I did my trailer hookup. That mounted trailer plug makes a big difference on cleaning things up. It's worth the effort ain't it.
  19. And another Blonde shows its head! And welcome to the site. You're in the right place for info on the bike and for finding like minded riders. You'll get used to us. We grow on ya. One of my coworkers owns a couple of C50s. Nice bike for sure but I've done some miles on his and I can't find the comfort zone for the long rides either. I bought my '84 in '06 and have put 35,000 miles on it since then. No regrets at all. Enjoy the ride. Mike
  20. Thanks for the laugh. Needed one. Mike
  21. I'm not familiar with the set up of the RSTD tail light but this 1157 Dual Spider light works quite well. If there is room for it. http://www.superbrightleds.com/moreinfo/tail-brake-turn/1157-led-bulb-dual-intensity-30-smd-led-spider/818/ Mike
  22. I was just thinking that myself. Now.... want if?.... These old time heros had some real horse power? Mike
  23. Looks like you got off to a good start. Nice looking ride. The pouchs are found now and then on FleaBay with prices from afforadable to nuts, as you have probably found out already. The brackets can be another story. Mostly it seems when a bike get stripped down the brackets are sold along with the part there were mounted on. Every now and then you will run across some that have been removed. As far as the Classified ads, you will find on the left side of your home screen the menu that includes the VR Classifieds. Click that and the next screen as you scroll down will list the different catagories for items. What you are looking for will be under the 1st Gen heading. So join up, hang around and enjoy the site. There is a lot of fine information here that will get you familiar with the bike and help you keep it in good condition. Good luck with the brackets. Mike
  24. Nobody ever figures you need a 3 car garage for a motorcycle until you take one of these old girls apart. :rotf: And you got two of them torn down.
