  1. Sorry you didn't get your answer. This thread sort of died out when he traded the bike off before doing the repairs. Just to get faster replies it's best to start a new thread with your questions. Only a couple of reasons folks don't reply here. They didn't see the post or they don't have the answer. This thread sort of faded out about the time you posted. And thanks for the info. Hope you stick around as a member. You can see there is a lot of good info here. Mike
  2. .031 to .035 gap by the book specs
  3. Had to check Paul. You know how rare it is for a guy on a 1st gen to have a problem with a carb. :rotf: Ride safe.
  4. Anybody hear from Paul yet.
  5. Ok, somebody had asked about the stator cooling kit a while back. Found this in my files.
  6. Dang, missed the boat. But good luck and ride safe paul. Mike
  7. I'll get it!!!!
  8. Holy smoke Gary, You're moving right along with this. Looking good!!!
  9. Kind of what I expected but this was the first I found. ABB-26HCD-12-00 http://www.boats.net/parts/detail/yamaha/Y-ABB-26HCD-12-00.html
  10. I don't know if you will find anything NOS or a direct replacement any more. If you want to look into a similiar replacement light in the rectangluar shape you might check out Wally World. They had a series called Road Burners that do decent job of lighting without breaking the bank. If you have the curved heavy driving light brackets on the bike you can even go with heavier lights with no problem.
  11. I think you'll be able to make this trip without the snow experience like last time. I hope, but it is the Midwest you never know. Have a good trip. Going through Missouri you might run across a still for refills .
  12. You got to admire the guy for his taste in bikes. yeah I know, but it still cracks me up.
  13. I'd like to see more info on that myself. I also carry a decock and as stated not having one in the pipe, defeats the purpose in my book also. I've heard arguements both ways and understand that a LEO may see the intent issue, but it would be handy to know the final say on it.
  14. I belive the one I used on mine was the FH0012a I have the upgrade stator to and the change was outstanding. I installed mine on the inner fairing. I don't think it would fit in the OEM position anyway due to size. Don't forget to get the plug kit for it. They were a bit of a trick to find. Here is a thread on the R/R's to: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=68374&highlight=indian gotta watch the numbers. A similiar number is quite different.
  15. There used to be some information on this site about the connection for the kits for a simple install but they have changed to site around quite a bit and I can't find the diagrams now http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-bin/store/index.cgi?action=DispPage&Page2Disp=%2Fpt%2Floadresistor.html But it looks like Jeff is building them directly into a new circuit board and like you at that point...........huh? Waiting to see what he comes up with myself. I've replaced about every light with LEDs except for the brake and turn signals. Gunna hafta get done someday.
  16. Yep the reason I got was pretty simple. Because of the alignement of the brushes with the contacts on the armature........ IT WON"T TURN. There isn't much to concider with that information.
  17. I checked into that quite a while back when I fried my 2 brush. If I remember right the answer was no because the armature / communtator (?) is different. I belive it's because of the windings.
  18. I know who you are now! We've spent quite a bit of time and enjoyed a lot of meals together in the past. You're the weight I lost a few years back. Since you left I found out suspension parts actually move up AND down. For many years horses and motorcycles knew how to do the same trick when I threw a leg over them. "SIT" But all kidding aside it is nice to feel the suspension working right rather than swallowing your gum or removing a bike seat from a high speed wedgy after hitting a pothole.
  19. It was a long time ago, back when I was still riding a GW, that I screwed up. I had spent the day at a local gun range and when I left there I had put my ammo and kit in the saddle bags and locked them up, as you should do. On the way home I had several cars pull along side and point towards me and then back off. I remember I'd reached down and made sure the bags were closed. Nothing else came to mind on why they were pointing. I had stopped at a traffic light and a Sheriff had pulled up next to me. I noticed he was looking at me so I gave him a nod and he smiled back and gave me a thumbs up before he pulled away. When I got home and was putting the bike away it hit me. I still had my revolver in my paddle holster on my belt. A .357 Python. Kind of noticable. Plain sight, right out in the open where it was as about as obvious as it could be. Except to me. There were no open carry laws here in Nebraska, the only permit available was the required registration that allowed you to "possess" a hand gun on your property. There were no cell phones back then so the encounter with the Sheriff was nothing more than a random event with a favorable outcome. Things were simpler back then. Would I want to make that mistake today? Oh, I'm pretty sure I won't. Even with all the right permits, all the rules followed and everything in the proper place and secured I still check all the new rules and laws before leaving the state.
  20. Yep it does, but there is a whole lot of safe zone in there to that is even mentioned in the Progressive directions. I ended up running mine at 6 1/2" and got a bit softer ride. The 5 1/2" isn't an absolute for anything other than the maximum level. So many variables to play with. Oil level, oil weight, preload, CLASS air pressure, and if so inclined, adding the Race Tech Emulators to improve the rebound.
  21. Yes sir, Happy Birthday! And many more to come.
  22. I've always been aware of how many LEO's we have here either active or retired. There are quite a few, and thank you all. I was on another site I stop in on now and then that covers another subject I'm interested in. Again, a lot of LEO's on that site also. They tend to talk a little more about their work as the subject of that site is work related to them. One member posted a couple for candid shots from inside his shop with explainations from the drivers on why they had been speeding. The theme of the post was a familier one." The idiots are among us." The first one was 103 MPH in a 45 zone. He had to be at a meeting in an hour. The second one was 108 MPH in a 55 zone. He was on his way home after a concert. He also had open container in the car and a loaded gun. He forgot to mention those to the officer at the time. One poster took a rather nasty shot at the LEOs as he took offense due to feeling insulted and the plain harrasment of people that drive over the speed limit. Everybody does it right? So all I want to say is thanks to all the LEO's we have past, present and future for looking out for us. Being we are riders, we need all the help we can get.
  23. You know, you might be onto something.
  24. Good to see you're hanging around. The small investment here is more than worth it for the entertainment value alone. And then the added attraction of these folks actually know stuff. Gotta keep these blondes in the lineup. Mike
  25. Now if ya want to peak that thing out let me know. Got a few tips from building chainsaws for competitive cutters. It might last 20 seconds or so.... maybe not. You'd have to move fast. I kinda miss blowing stuff up.
