  1. If you are finding enough pinholes to be a concern here is a fix that holds up extremely well. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=71496 Or a dab of the liquid version would patch a larger hole for a temp fix. But if you are dealing with a hole large enough that you're not getting any movement on the slide you are needing to look at replacing that diaphragm. But inspection of the slide for free floating movement would be the first step. Cracks, worn spots, a loose diaphragm or a ridge would prevent the slider from working properly.

    '84 Venture Royale

My bike through the last few years,
  3. Hey Hugger, I just noticed. You posted in the second gen section. You ain't foolin' no body. You're still one of us. No harm, no foul but you may get better responses on the 1st gen side or even the watering hole. You are a 1st gen, MKII model. The '83 - '85 was MKI. Anything after the MKII is well, the other guys. Ya know.... 2nd gen.
  4. Ah damn Gary!! Not cool. But the leather work looks good. One step back right.
  5. Oh oh... Tater Death
  6. Jonas, you did a fine job. Looks great with the candy apple on there.
  7. Ya done real good on the price for sure. I bought my '84 from about the same situation. One owner. Passed away, then stored 9 years by son until he bought a HD. I've put over 35,000 miles on it since then and he's on his third Harley. First step..... Sea Foam and fresh gas. Oil change, good battery and fresh plugs and who knows.... it might just start. Mine did. After that all it took was :mo money: Let the fun begin!!
  8. Note to self: Do not let my daughter see this post!!! She'll start counting off "I told ya's". Glad it was a simple problem. Now you have checked everything else you should be good for a while.
  9. Makes ya wanna dig a foxhole don't it. Several years back at the air show here they had a squadron of P-51's make a low level pass over the crowd. That would make you either run for cover or stand there with your mouth hanging open.
  10. One detail to ask about. Did you get the small o-ring at the bottom of the diaphragm cover back in place when you put the covers back on?
  11. Nope, no clips, no retainer. It's just a slip fit. The tightest part of the connection is the o-ring. What you're up against now is the nose piece is probably cocked in the case. It will need to be worked, gently, back to a straight position so it can be worked out. At this point, take all caution. Any more heavy hits are putting you at risk of damaging the case.
  12. Jack, you had a good day. You're in one 3D piece and it don't look like the bike took a hit. Just remember to dig the dirt out of the tail pipe....... and I'm sure fresh shorts are were in order. Bet you have a new game plan in place already for the next time. And pick up a lotttery ticket. Glad you didn't get hurt. Mike
  13. Thanks for posting that. Haven't seen those in years.
