  1. Jeff, I can't argue with your choice for seating on your first flight. This could create an entirely new version of "Game of Thrones". And whole new level to the term of "Coming in Hot". You've far surpassed my experience and skills in the RC world. I'm keeping an eye on this. Best of luck. I need a new hero.
  2. Looking pretty good Jeff. Have you figured out at what speed the paint will start pealing off yet?
  3. Ok, very similar story from about 24 years ago. I was taken by surprise when they found me laying face down in the snow in a driveway. I thought I'd been hit by lightening. My back was twisted and could barley even move. Pain was like none I'd ever felt. No idea how I'd gone down. Soooo..... I got home and called my family doctor. Got me right in. He did his thing and told me I'd strained my back. Yeah, Mr. Medical Education. LOL So his advice was take his magic pills and stay off my feet for a few days. Pills did nothing. Sitting, standing, laying down, did nothing to stop the pain. Like you, sleep was not going to happen. I was twisted like a snake hit by a truck. After a couple more visits with that Doc and a week off work I asked him about seeing a bone cracker. Oh.. absolutely NOT! They can do NOTHING for this. So..... I chased down a bone cracker. After a full battery of X-rays he started with those electrical massage table sessions and minor adjustments to my back 3 times a week. After the first week I was feeling a little bit better. After the second week I was able to move and return to my work, thankfully I was driving a desk back then, but still had some serious burning sensations when I moved too fast and my back was still a bit twisted. I think it was about my 10th visit to the cracker when he says, "I want to try something a bit more intense". And he did. All I remember is coming around wondering how I got hit by lightening inside a building. The bone cracker is white as a ghost his young assistant looked like she was going to faint. And there were two people in the room I did not know. They were dressed like EMTs. Turned out they were. They all looked shocked when slid off the table and stood up and stretched. I felt great. No more pain. I could stand up straight for the first time in weeks. His "Little more intense" move and taken the pressure off the nerve and let everything fall back in place. But when he popped it back the nerve flared up and he said I was was flopping like a hooked fish then passed out. His clerk called for an ambulance. I still saw him once a month for a bit of an alignment treatment for a while until I felt trust in my back again. Still send him Christmas cards. Been years now with no more issues. I did change my family doctor and sent the old one a Voodoo Doll to remind him there are other choices rather he believes in them or not. So, the point of this is keep a lil faith in what a bone cracker can do for you. Hopefully it will work as well for you as it did for me. Minus the EMTs. To this day I still have no faith in pain pills or pain meds. I do enjoy a massage when I get tight. Good luck.
  4. Well, If you're anything like me, after a few bowls of my own Habanero Chilli when I hit the express elevator I know for a fact I will be alone when I get my floor. I've seen so much desperation. And yes Earl, you have a dark side.
  5. Got my patches today. Thank you.
  6. Guess I got as close to the front of the line as I'd ever get. Looks like #2027 for me. Wondered why I had cobwebs.
  7. That's a shame. Blondie was the reason I got to know Bob when I joined here. I had my '84 Blonde also. We were always working on the same projects, doing similar mods. Bob always had solid advice and we compared notes as we went along. Bob kept me fired up to keep improving my Blonde. He even supplied a few parts he had spares of. Hope it finds a good home.
  8. Order for 2 via PP done and headed to you. Thank you.
  9. I'm just go to ahead say it now. For my money DEKA is the best long term battery for a Venture. I've been using DEKA since I did a bunch electrical mods on my '84 years ago. The first one lasted 6 years of daily riding and at that time covered a lot of starts stops with my work. I only replaced it because I was headed out to spend the summer on the road. It was still showing 25% battery life when I installed a new one. The new one is still in my bike today. Still cranking and charging like it always has. You've probably seen DEKA mentioned several times on the board. I think SkyDoc was selling them here on the site to. You want power with CCA and reliability they get my money. This will give you the specs on the battery for your bike. http://www.bohannonbattery.com/html/motbat/18lbs.html
  10. Still praying for you Bob.
  11. Thought with ya Bob. Recover my friend.
  12. Not much comfort at this point but hang in there a few more days and let them deal with it. I made a purchase of couple of projector headlights for my '84 a few years back from an eBay seller a few years back. About $300.00 worth. Expected delivery time came and went without my lights. I exchanged several emails with the seller and all I got was a run around and he kept stalling. I turned it over to eBay along with my email exchange copies. Only took them a few days to get me a full refund and I do believe the seller got suspended or banned for his actions. They don't put up with that kind of activity. They do try to weed out the ad ones. So best of luck.
  13. Howdy SilverT, Same boat. Mine was to run out on the 16th also. Been here since 2006 myself. I gave it a lot of thought as I haven't been very active myself for a while but I still have my '84 so I do get a ride in now and then. Then the fact that I pulled a 777 that other night so ponied up my $12.00 and renewed today. I figure what's the point of life if I don't belong to something. Plus I know for a FACT as soon as I drop my membership here I'll come up with something really important to say. So I'm going to keep my finger in the pot a while longer. Take care of yourself sir. Will miss your input and comments.
  14. Welcome to the club Justin, I used to worry more about the fuel pump in my '84 than my own ticker. Never gave it much thought. But as said as we get older stuff sneaks up on ya. I never saw mine coming. I just scored my 3rd attack a couple years back. Now I'm the proud owner of a tuner system. Wish my bike had that to tell me which cylinder was starting to foul out before it sputtered. Sounds like your wife has that covered. But as it was stated..... follow the docs advice..... I have a pit crew now with an on-board monitor that makes reservations with my crew ahead of time. I still like to skip the pit road every few laps myself.
  15. Oh damn.... another reminder of my age. I bought my '84 back in 2006. Found this forum shortly after that in early 2007 I think. Seeing the amount of info on these bikes I quickly signed on as a member. That '84 was intended as a project bike to entertain myself and get in a few road miles during the process. I remember wondering which one would die first....... the bike or this forum. Well here I am. Still riding my '84 and still a supporting member here. Neither one has ever let me down. Both outstanding support systems for the mind, body and soul. Which reminds me..... I need to renew again. Not done yet.
  16. Merry Christmas from Nebraska back at ya Boss man. And to everyone else that inhabits this great site.
  17. Prays from me to Bob. I still owe you a few. I'll be playing catch up until you are back in full force. Heal well my friend.
  18. Yes they were. Here is my original thread. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?69334-Another-new-way-to-mount-stuff-on-a-1st-gen-handlebar&highlight=Snagglestuds Mr. Meyers ended up producing them. He went a few steps further and drilled and tapped both ends to allow adding a ball stud on the inner end for a ram mount also. His were nicely machined and rounded off. I used to have some pics of his but they have wandered off.
  19. Found a couple old pics of the Studs I came up with and how I used them. Bob Myers was able to produce a nicer looking and more functional set right after these.
  20. BOBBY! Snagglepus...... .Really? I ain't been showing my PUS around here enough. LOL
  21. I'm on my third stent since 2014 through 2017. All the same. They kept in the hospital about a week each time and turned me loose. Warning me to not exert myself the watch for bleeding. All though the leg. Now when they did the Pacemaker they strapped me to the bed and had two nurses making sure I didn't move off my back for 4 hours. Again the stuff done through the leg. I didn't make any friends that time.. I kept telling the nurses if that's how you want to play it I got handcuffs in my overnight bag. Doc wasn't real thrilled when I showed for my first Pacemaker checkup on my bike. Hey Doc.... relax..... I wore my helmet.
  22. From my early years managing Turf care equipment shops all I can say if they caused a lot of complaints from users. But my specialty was sharpening and dialing in reel mowers for golf greens. If I was a 1/8th" off my grass got bagged. Flymo's were a popular item as an oddity. Sure they seemed fun to use. If they were running right they were light and easy to swing around bushes and under low hanging branches. But being no way to adjust the height of the cut and only being suspended by the air flow created by the rotating blade so you can imagine how to final job looked like as a finished lawn. Kind of killed sucking a few beers while doing the yard. They had to hold the mower level. If technology would have been more advanced back then it would have made a decent drone for chasing varmits, LOL. Be a fun project for the money but ya know.... it has its faults as a lawn mower.
  23. Oh man..... so may issues. I haven't had any problems at gas stations, but I got hit a while back at a local tobacco shop. One of those drive up window places. Clerk hangs in the window and you get a couple packs and you pass them the card though the window, (FIRST RED FLAG), my card was out of my sight...... for only a few seconds. And I even get a receipt, that I have to sign for when I do that, for the correct amount. Never thought much about doing that. It's a neighborhood business that I visit a few times a month. Yeah, it's a trust thing, my mistake. But when I got my monthly bank statement, (ON LINE), I noticed I'd been buying from that shop WAY MORE than I thought. I logged in to my bank account and printed out all my purchase details on that one card. Hum..... looked like for every visit I'd made to that drive up shop I had made purchases 2, 3 or 4 times on the same day. The old NOPE..... didn't happen. So I printed out my info an visited my bank manger the next day and explained what I had found. His computer system is so much nicer than mine. His records matched my dates but his has time stamps on every transaction. Not only the same days but several transaction on the same card within seconds of the first one. A couple amounts the same as the first as my original purchase, the next the next next one a little more and the ones after that went up. Never that much money enough to notice a dent in my account. But over that month it added up by the time I saw my statement. So my bank manager canceled that card and filed some forms to recover the false charges and told me for file a Police Report also, which I did, with all the printouts I had from the bank. The Police investigation determined that there was NO CRIME. I'd never reported the card stolen or lost during those time, until I went to bank bank manager and filed the Police report, and I had even told them I had never lost my card. I was ALWAYS in my possession EXCEPT when I handed to that one clerk at the one store. Bank investigators told me in the beginning they take fraud VERY seriously. But in the end, they came back with "Well , the card was in YOUR possession at the times of purchase." Not really ya know. It was in the clerks hand at the time.... for a few seconds. So all in all I took a minor hit. It all added up at the end of the month to about $100.00 that got charged falsely. Now on the subject of gas...... My oldest friend has owned an auto service shop with gas pumps out front for decades. Well known guy and well respected in the area. Shop is closed at night but pumps are 24 hours. Well lit area on a busy street, with 24 hour security cameras. When he opened the shop one morning he had a customer complain the pump was not working. When I checked it out the pump wasn't getting any fuel from the tank. He sticked the tank and it was almost dry. He's had just had topped off both underground tanks a couple days before. His first concern was a leaking storage tank. But when he compared the daily pump readings it had seemed they had pumped over $3,500 worth of gas over night. When he checked his security footage, running backwards, it showed almost constant line of vehicles though a good part the night to JUST one pump. As soon as one car pulled out another was waiting behind it. The drivers were just handling the pump line back and forth from car to car. On the tape before all the traffic started to that pump he was able to see someone had walked down the street and was only at that pump for maybe half a minute, but he had opened the pump cover and done something inside of it. Then more than likely had called EVERYBODY he knew and said "FREE GAS". At the end of the recording, early in the morning the same guy can back to opened to door again and walked away. No matter where you go or who you deal with there is ALWAYS somebody out to screw over the next guy. I saw a TEE shirt a while back that hit a note with me. I DON'T TRUST PEOPLE FOR TWO REASONS 1. I DON'T KNOW THEM. 2. I KNOW THEM. Kind of a sad thought ya know...
  24. Thanks for the reminder Jack........... and done.
