140 is where my fuel warning light comes on. About 225 my nerves tingle. Topped off a couple times at 4.8 gallons. I don't know if I could have pushed it further. Didn't have my gas can with me. The trick is in the wrist. Don't bend it so much.

Saw your post on the welcome thread to about info on your bike but I don't see it coming up. May have a couple things that will help you out. What part of Omaha you in? Mike

And hey again, A lot of the issue with foot position depends on how long of legs you have. I'm about 6'2" with 36" inseam and I tried the floorboards and found them to not be suitable for me. They caused me some discomfort with the foot being forced up to a more parallel postion to the ground. I stuck with the pegs. Some adjusment there but not much. Shorter riders seem quite happy with them. Some riders have used these pegs to give some room to stretch out. http://www.kuryakyn.com/products/460/longhorn-offset-dually-highway-pegs These allow more room for the foot due to the lower fairing sticking out as far as it does on your model. The adjustments for position on the long horns is impressive over other styles. I think a couple of guys here have floor boards for sale. Not sure if they are direct fit for your MKII bike. I'm sure they will pop in if they have something to offer that will work for you. Yep, a set for an '86 MKII just sold from the classified ads here and the other set is for an '83 - '85 MKI. Mike

They should be able to swap out the needed lights from their LED replacement set they sell. But if it gets ugly you can find LED lights and housings at Wally World that should work well. I installed four of their lights on my '84 where the OEM reflectors were. Holding up well over several years now and better side visibilitly than the flat ones.

Somebody put something in my brownies or there is something seriously out of whack with that picture.

You should be able to go to your ad listing and on the right side you will see an "Edit" menu button. I think you can find a "relist it" option there. It's possible the ad expaired and shows sold for that reason.

CARB help question!
Snaggletooth replied to repsolracer22's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I worry about my memory Kevin. I really do. But seeing his post brought back issues from way back in the beginning and I've done a lot of different carbs on different bikes since then. If I can get down to the storage unit and find the OEM needle seats I still have that should answers one one question for sure. I know for sure after talking to Rick I ordered all the needle and seat sets, net filters and plugs from them. At the time he had no plugs available so the stop and shop was on. I probably wouldn't have ordered all the filters and plugs if they came out from the inside. I know one thing, without a real good reason to do so, I wouldn't go that far again. I was just reviewing the CD on rebuilding the V-Max carbs. I notice there they made no attempt to remove or replace the seats. Don't look like they even touched them. Or I missed it. I love fast forward. Like you, I'll be watch what happens here and I will post any other info I find. -
CARB help question!

Hey Kevin, It's been 6 years since I did that but I remember I got into the same jam Repsol was dealing with. I tried to pry the seats out from the bottom, which was difficult to do without risking the pivot arm for the floats. Ended up damaging a seat. I think it was Rick down at Buckeye Performance I talked to back them on removal and ordering parts. I ended up drilling and tapping the plug to pull it and then removed the net filter with a pick. I found a set of small channel locks and pushed the seat out through the plug hole. I was downstairs looking for a couple of spare needle seats I had left over from a Yamaha OEM set to check for any lip that would show seating direction. All my spare carbs parts have been moved to the storage unit. I don't recall any o-ring seal on the seats but it's been a few years. The net filters had a bit of a seal on them if I remember right. But I recall everything being done through the plug side. Dropped in seat, tapped it down, inserted net filter and installed new plug. Tapped down and staked three sides of the plug on the carb body, not on the plug itself. I can't see how a seat could be pressed in from the inside without risk of damage to the seat. Like you said, it's not a straight shot from that side. Any looseness would allow it to drop down and fall into the fuel bowl. Movement downward would wreck havoc on the fuel level. -
Ohhhhh. That's gonna ruffle some feathers.

It come out through the top after you remove the plug and the net filter. -
After rebuilding the slave on mine went thought the same thing. Multiple fill and bleeds one after the other. Lever didn't felt right. Worked..... but not right. Ended up doing what Sarge said excpect I left the lever tied back over night. Filled and bled in the morning and I was good to go. Just remember to protect that fairing at all costs from the brake fluid. You want to feel more resitance on the lever go for new V-Max springs or add a second diaphragm spring to the clutch pack depending on which clutch pack you have. Then you really feel it.

I'm sure Boats.net will work fine for you. Been using them for years and never had a problem of any kind. Always got the right part and their pricing was always fair. I've had some spitting matches with one of the local stealerships when I first got my '84. I had the parts number, even take the old part to the counter and point out the parts in their information and had to pay upfront to order it. Some times even have to argue on why I needed the part. Still get the wrong one and then they would want to charge the restocking fee. Some people are just difficult to deal with. You learn quick enough on who not to deal with and sometimes that education ain't cheap.

And you're not the only one dealing with the red demon infestation. Dan Meyer had his own experience with them. http://lifeisaroad.com/stories/2004/10/29/neighborhoodHazardorWhyTheCopsWontPatrolBriceStreet.html

I got dozens of ways to get rid of them. Grew up in a neighborhood surrounded by walnut and oak trees. Non lethal........... I got nuttin. Well, maybe one. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l3Ya6z-NlDo]squirrel Launcher!!! - YouTube[/ame]

Is PartsShark part of the Partzilla group these days? Been seeing some unhappy buyers dealing with the ones affiliated through that lately concerning the accuracy of orders and return policies. Just curious.

That might be a little closer to peanut brittle.

Probably gonna want to stand up on the pegs on the way there. Don't want your brain to think you're sitting down.

Welll, It's almost time Jeff. How ya doin'?
-
At least it's just passing through........
-
I don't know what to say Jeff. In our early years we all had to bear down and do the grunt work and squeeze along the best we could until we reach that point in life where we can just relax and go with the flow. Apparently this is your time. Over the next few hours many fond memories will pass. Some harder to swallow than others and some just hard to digest. Some may be harder to let go of than others. Remember that gum you swallowed in 1978? ......... tonights it's history. The last thing to leave you will be your pride in the morning when you look over your shoulder at the doctor with the face shield and elbow high gloves. You can smile at them with confidence knowing you have given them everything. Nothing lasts forever Jeff. It will just seem like it tonight. May the force be with you buddy.

CARB help question!

I would have yelled STOP if I had know you were getting into that. Been there. Did all four carbs on one set. Really found no need to replace the seats. Needles wear a lot faster than the seats do. But since you're already there..... I found plugs that fit by going door door to several small engine shops. No Idea what they were meant for in the beginning, just digging in what they had on hand. You will probably need the new filter. Refered to as a NET FILTER.. 1J7-14994-00-00. It's a small filter with a domed face so it can get crushed. If you drill too far through the plug it may have been damaged. If you are doing other carbs just spray carb cleaner into seat and use compressed air to blow back from the seat side to remove any debris back though the feed pipe. -
Jack, I found a way to save ya some money. If it's just the "look" you want this might be the answer.
