  1. Got mine from Rick over at Buckeye Performance in Ohio. About $7.00 each I think they were.
  2. Yeppers on the half way point in the glass. But here is a copy of the Yammy tech info on connecting the drain line to the breather hose. It's a lousy copy but it will give the basic idea. If the oil level is correct the drain line doesn't have much to do.
  3. The bikes started ok ......right? I gotta make fun while I can. It was 48 yesterday and I got in a ride. It's 19 now and going to be 2 tonight with winds up to 40 mph. The winds are from the NORTH!!!! Thanks guys! I remember being in Moose Jaw and waking up in the morning with the snow half way up the door of my vehicle. That was a Kenworth tractor! I'll just wait here until spring thank you. :cold:
  4. Already did Bongo. Nice looking rig. I thought mine came out looking pretty nice but yours is excellent.
  5. You got a PM
  6. What he said Mike was he could fit him AND his wife inside the shirt together which is actually rather suggestive and creating a visual image that is not appropriate for this site. So I'm glad I got the shirt to keep them from doing that. Eww! :rotfl:
  7. Somehow this all looks somehow familiar........... Now you know why the shirt caught my eye. How many of these blondes did they make anyway? This shot was right after I got done restoring it. A whole got of shiny stuff stuck to it after that. You have great looking bike there.
  8. What? Who? Me? Sniping? No speaky engrish! LOL! Man that bid sat at like $2.25 or whatever for a long time and I figured nobody was watching it any more. When I logged on last night there was like 2 minutes left so I popped in a bid and saw it jump right up to the $9.50 so I knew somebody was stalking in the shadows. So who's the sniper now? But my apologies Bongo. Didn't mean to snatch it out from under ya but man, it's hard for us big boys to look sharp these days. I was surprised nobody grabbed it on the "Buy it now". Gotta go clean my rifle for the next auction. LOL!
  9. Hey Condor! Thanks for the heads up on that. Got the 3xl for a pretty decent price. Would have missed that one if you hadn't mentioned it. Couldn't pass it up with the logo being a blonde and all.
  10. I'm not a guru on this but it seems like that is pretty normal for these bike. Lots of draw on the system with those 1157 firing up. Any add on lights will only make it more dramatic.
  11. I do have a question on the CB's. I've never seen one from a VR and I can't remember what year they quit using the 23 channel ones. In my early days everything was 23 with about 5 or 6 watts and then they dropped the power to about 3 watts when they went to 40 channels. What are the VR CB's? 23? Any idea howmay watts?
  12. Mike. Maybe these will help.
  13. Man ya say "nipple" one time and all of a sudden everybody is awake. LOL!
  14. Hey Mike. Yeppers, the PO on mine had zip tied the damn thing up along the the left down tube and it led up to to inside the fairing on the lsft side to behind the head light. Had my fairing off 3 times until I posted a pic and somebody jumped in and told me what it was. The PO had apparently broken the nipple off the airbox so he just epoxied the hole shut and moved the line to somewhere else. I had spent many evenings with the parts break downs and a flashlight looking at every component behind the fairing. Grrrr! One of many surprises from the PO. The man was challenged I tell ya! LOL! Ya get your springs figured out on your exhaust tips?
  15. Ah hah! I'm not alone! Drove me nuts for a month until I found out where it went. It's a drain hose that attaches to the front left bottom side of the air box. If up get your hand up in there you will feel a nipple that it attaches to. There was a tech article from Yammy years ago that was a mod to shorten the line from the air box and splice it into that damned dog legged breather hose from the crank case instead of letting it drip under the bike.
  16. There is one intersection on my way to work that drives me nuts. Four lanes divided by islands from each way and the road I'm on is a slight uphill grade. There are 9 manhole covers in a 50 foot section between both the lanes on my side of the road starting from the section where you stop and then all the way across the intersection. I look like a drunken sailor trying to get through that intersection on my bike when it wet out. I've hit them straight on enough times wet and had the bike side step on me that I try to avoid them completely by weaving through them. Not bad in light traffic but I do tend to tie things up a bit when I get stuck at the light and have to get started again. Even when I drive my car, a 3,700 lb Lincoln, the drive tires break loose going over the damn things. Of course the heavy truck traffic keeps them well oiled also.
  17. Well you are doing pretty well and everybody here speaks the univeral language. Motorcycle! So when the time comes I'm sure that someone on the board will be able to hook you up with a dealer that rents bikes. These guys seem like they can set up about anything. Most the time they organize eating but then again you have to ride to get to the food. Later Mike
  18. So what's wrong with his english? I understand him better than some of the guys I work with. LOL!
  19. Hey MikeC. When I bought my '84 back a couple of years ago I had a grand time getting my brakes working right after 9 years of being in storage by the PO. What I found was the PO had opened up the proportioning valve for whatever reason and then failed to reassemable it in the proper order. Created all kinds of havoc and headaches for me. With much help and advice from several boards I found info on the correct way to install the goofed up order of things. And belive me, there are several ways to put that valve back together. LOL! But during the process of trial and error and waiting for more info to come to me I had reassmbled the valve without any of the inner workings. (cups, spring, retainers and spool) The valve is designed to divide the fluid pressure at 30% to the rear and 70% to the left front. Without the inner workings it should have been in theroy, about equal to both ends of the system. I rode it this way for quite a while and found the rear brake did tend to lock up sooner than it did after the valve was correctly reassembled. After getting the valve back to spec I found that the rear felt weaker and the bike did tend to want to wag its tail in a hard braking situation. (parking lot experiment, on wet pavement) I've been riding the last 6,000 miles with the proportioning valve as it was designed, but has considered removing the inner working over the winter to get the rear brake back to what I had before. I had given thought to delinking the brakes and going to the old school, front is front and back is back but tossed the idea after much conversation with folks who had done the that. The pic here is the parts that were removed during the learning process. Just remember, if ya take it apart, pay damn close attention to the order it come out in. There is only ONE way it will work right and ten ways to put the parts back in. LOL! Maybe 12? I lost count but I got really good at pulling master cylinders. Mike
  20. It is nuts. My 16 year old daughter went with a friend and her parents today to Younkers. She had found a jacket in her size and was taking it off the rack when an older woman tried to grab it out of her hands and elbowed her in the face. The friends parents brought her home and were in shock. They couldn't belive what happened. She has a 3/4 inch long cut on her eyebrow. She needed a stitch. All for a damned jacket.
  21. It's been fun hanging around here and looking forward to more. So from one old bird to the rest of you flockers........ This birds for you!
  22. Well all I got to say it HOWDY!
  23. Damn that got bloody at the end! What a shootout! Oh, well. Guess I'll keep wrapping myself in my old saddle blanket.
  24. Haven't forgot about you guys. Still got a few more boxes to go through. Thought maybe I'd label them with what's in them as a I go along this time. DUH! Never thought I'd have this much backstock for a bike in my life. Hope something breaks soon so I can use some of this stuff. (jinx) I didn't say that.
  25. Umm....one guy needs a right and one guy needs a left. I think I can help here. I have an extra set in the basement that fit my '84 and I belive they are the same for the years you guys have. Let me check my numbers and see if they are and see what I paid for them and maybe I can help both of you out. I can beat the daylights out of $58.00 bucks! They are both in good shape and the louvers are fine. I'll need to check the mounting tabs to be sure. I'll PM both of you before Sunday if your are interested. Mike
