Hey Brad. No issue with what you said at all ya big squid. Just wanted to throw in my thoughts on the Buckeye stator. I know there has been a lot of questions on several boards about the two Ricks being one and the same. To the best of my knowledge that's not the case. And now that I think about it......... you are kind of the one that started it all for me anyway. If you hadn't had those brackets I wouldn't have started hanging extra lights.

I got my upgrade stator from Rick at Buckeye also this spring and have put about 10,000 miles on the bike so far this year. I installed a digital voltmeter at the same time along with a Deka AGM. I already had a new R/R in from the year before. I'd read a lot of comments on this board and other sites on other suppliers of the upgrade stators and the only one that wasn't getting a lot of grumbles was the Buckeye. After talking to a few guys who had installed one and then Rick I ordered one. I have had zero issues with it and with the digital meter has shown me that it is handling the needed volts very well. I run a lot of lights and and the battery is always at 100% charged when I shut it down. I ride the bike on a service route daily and it is a lot of run and shut down. I can say that on some days I may start the bike 25 to 30 times a day. I have always trusted Rick at Buckey and he has never led me wrong. Always had straightup answers for my questions and got me the parts that worked the first time and no issues with any of them. Just my Mike

What a story! My biggest adventure at his age was a trip from Omaha to Denver and back on a CB450. I thought that was tough trip. I feel like such a wuss now. Back under my rock.

Around here sales, service and parts all suck. Nothing on the shelves that ya need, (or want to pay their price for), nutting but rockets on the floor and the sales people all seem to act like they can't even see you. Even at the HD dealer you need to have $100 bills hanging out of you pockets before they will come over to you. The only dealer that even makes an effort to make a sale is the Victory dealer here. They darn near meet ya at the door.

I had to click it a couple of times before it hit. If not go to the top menu "Bike Shop" and then "Bike Care".

Congrats to you and your boys. A major step for a young fella today. I made Eagle way back when and also Order of the Arrow. Scouting had a huge affect on my younger life and set a path for years to come.

Hey Bryan. I haven't even ran across that one yet. I've seen a Burgundy, a Blonde and a Black one around but no White ones yet. Mike

I was out last Saturday for a day ride. High 40's (f) most the day. Didn't get home until 11 PM that night and it had dropped to the 30's. Weather here in Omaha has been mild for this time of year. We have had ice storms and severe snow storms in the past years as early as October. As long as the streets stay dry and none of the chemical spray they are using on the streets I'm keeping bike ready to ride as long as possible. It's looking like it's going to hit 55 today so I'm outta here. Mike

overtaxing charging circuit?
Snaggletooth replied to dynodon's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
The Deka AGM battery and the upgrade stator from Rick at Buckey Performance solved ALL my charging and power issues. Period. The Deka battery that Condor mentioned is far superior to the Odessy that was such a hot item a while back. I've had mine since April this year and it always shows 12.8 or better on the digital meter everytime I hit the key. The upgrade stator will add about 25 or 30% to the charging system. I run a lot on lights on my rear lightbar, extra markers on front and sides and (2) 55w driving lights and I still show around 13.7 to 13.9 going down the road. I drop to about 13.2 stopped with the brake lights on. Mike -
When I was driving truck OTR I had a stick on temp strip on my drivers side mirror. Same thing that you use on a fish tank. (any pet store) That was before modern technology with digital displays for outside temps and heated mirrors came along. Not so great for wind chill but itgave you an idea of what to be prepared for when you opened the door.

Hey Kerry. Welcome to the nut house. You should enjoy it here. Sounds like you met some of the crowd already so you know what you are getting into. Aren't you the brave one. LOL! Don't know your bother either but I'd have to assume he's probably like the rest of us. A bit unstable at times. Just a bit. That's what makes this place so much fun. Ride safe and enjoy. Welcome again and see ya around. Mike

No doubt about it........you got oil getting into the cooling system. Ain't nuttin else that foams up in the radiator like that. Once the coolant finds it's way into an oil passage you're going to have bigger problems.

Now that is cool to see a CBX in that shape. The owner of the company I worked for back then bought one of the first ones in Omaha. He had it for about a month and parked it in our warehouse. I bugged him about riding it and he just would shake his head. One day he picked me up at the dealer when I dropped off my GW for work and when we got back to the office he tossed me the keys to the CBX. Told me I could use it until I got mine back. I got to say that bike could shread a tire no doubt but the only thing I liked about the bike was from point A to point B it was an awesome experience....as long as the path from A to B was in a straight line. It was a wrestling match to corner in town and don't even think about the twisites under power. Not a corner carver for sure. It had a lot of low end grunt but the weight of the bike kept it from being anything spectacular. I had the bike for about a week and then it ended up back in the warehouse for a year before he let it go. I don't think he ever put a 1,000 miles on it. He offered it to me but I passed on it. Not what I wanted. Be fun to ride one again though.

Ok .....this sounds a bit corny but pick up a Kenny G. album. Any one will do. I never knew there were more than 2 recording on it. By the time I was half way into the second track I was out like a light. If ya go with the Melatonin, watch your dosages. My sister in law turned my on to that years ago when I was changing jobs and schedules. Standard dose didn't help so I added a little extra. Nada......add another pill......nope.......another one please. What I ended up with was a full night of CinemaPlex 45. Dreamed from the minute I feel asleep to the time I dragged myself out of bed. Not much rest involved. I finally saw my doc and explained my problem and told him about the Melatonin. He had tears running down his face he was laughing so hard. Very comforting. Seems that 1/2 a pill would have been the correct dose for my age and size. Doh! I was just getting used to it. Canceled my cable service and everything.

On my '84 I thought I had a rear wheel bearing going bad. You could really feel a good vibration in the rear grab bars and a pretty good click when it was up on the stand and spinning the rear wheel. I pulled it apart and stripped it all down and found the dampner pins were pretty well stuck. Got it apart and gave it the emory treatment and lubed the pins up and put it back on. No more clicking, no more vibration. When those pins ain't slippin you just ain't getting the full effect. Glad you got her fixed up. Mike

TCI CDI differences????
Snaggletooth replied to a topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
The 26H is for the '83 model only. The 41R is for the '84 and up until they went to the single coil pickup which was what guys? '90? The only real difference is the boost setting in the TCI. They will run but like you are seeing there are some side effects. I ran a 26 in my '84 until I found a good 41R. Ran fine. Carried it for a spare until I found someone who needed one for his '83.- 7 replies

Anybody done business with this eBay seller?
Snaggletooth replied to Snaggletooth's topic in Watering Hole
I hear ya Dingy. His answers have been a bit in the gray area. Short and little useful info given to a direct question. I see he just backed out of a helmet sale that that only brought $23.00. Said it was a mistake. He didn't get what he wanted so he backed out of the deal. I guess he's one to avoid in the future. -

Well I just got a response from the guy with a tracking number. Looks like he didn't even ship them until AFTER my second inquiry. That would have been AFTER he told me he shipped them. So all I can accuse him of at this point is being a bit fudgy on the shipping story. Lazy would be a good word I guess. Bongo.......I guess I've been spoiled. About everything I have bought has arrived within 10 days or less. The record was four days from payment. Wish they all went like that. DragonRider.......I appriecate the offer. Looks like I won't need them. But thanks. Now to see if they look like the ones in the pics in his listing. I wonder what the other set looks like. -

His feedback was 417 I think at 100%. Reviews were good. I just checked the new listing and it still shows active on mine with two days to go. -

Snaggletooth replied to Snaggletooth's topic in Watering Hole
Rare.....not really......hard to come by decent clean ones......yeah. Been looking for a while so I jumped on these when they listed. I've seen them go a lot higher than $50.00. It just irks me that the guy had a pretty decent feedback file so I felt pretty good about it. And his response to the shipping charge was quick and favorable. I bought some junk early on in my dealings with eBay and it was my own fault. I learned what to ask and what I needed to know pretty quick to cover myself. About everything I've bought was in excellent condition when I got it. So we shall see what happens. Best I can hope for is that he is a really, really slow shipper. -
I ran across this one a while back. I still open a door and look inside before I go into a room. Geesh.....glad it wasn't on the bathroom floor of a plane.

This may be my first time of getting burned on eBay. I hope not. I bought a set of chrome fairing hole covers on a BIN bid from a seller named "awfulhaunted" on October 29th. I paid as soon as I comfirmed my bid. The seller posted that there was free shipping on the BIN for domestic shipping. The PayPal totaled in the shipping on the sale so I went ahead and paid the full billing. I contacted the seller the next day and he did refund the shipping promptly. Still kept the item price in full. Fixed, or so I thought. So I waited.. Then a few days later I get a notice from eBay that a listing I had been watching had relisted. I popped it up and what do I see but the same side covers, same pic, same exact listing I had already paid for. So I contacted the seller requesting info on the shipping as I had seen the new listing and was concerned that there may have been some confusion because of the refunded shipping. Got a response that they had been shipped via FedEx......not UPS as stated in the listing. No tracking number was provided. That was on 11/06/09. He did explain that the new listing was another set that I had just got from another bike. Er...yeah....ok.....sure. And I waited... So I contacted him again today requesting the tracking info as I see someone has bid on the second listing. Haven't heard from him yet. If not by tonight I guess I'll have to start a claim on the guy. It's been going on two weeks and not much happening. So the listings were: Item# 300361849 for the ones I bought. Item# 300364426 for the second listing. Look alike to me...... Guess I'll try to put a cork in this guy before he sells this set again. I hope I'm wrong on this. So anybody had dealings with this guy?

Yeppers the 2nd gen valve cover gaskets work fine on the 1200 1st gen. I bought a set for the 1300 off the Bay a while back and they threw me off a little bit when I got them. They look a bit different with the wider side plugs and the lip that hangs out but they are a perfect seal and they do install easier.
