The cause of a lot of this is the rear brake master being over filled with fluid. As it heats up it expands and has no where to go other than the brake lines causing the brakes to drag. Some lock up. As the proportioning valve is 30/70 (30 rear / 70 front) you would feel it quite a bit in the front brake. Remove some fluid from the rear master and see it that helps. Mike

The LED bulbs are great. Only the two upper left lights were installed in this pic. For a few bucks you can change a lot of lights over. I've done 28 on my bike already. The voltmeter barely drops now when I kick 'em on. Enjoy Mike

The reason you won that was I handcuffed myself to the toilet tonight. LOL! Well almost anyway.. Good win though. I already have the rear light bar but wanted to replace the curved chrome side panels and needed the "L" brackets for the rear supports and of course I wanted the trailer hitch ( but alas, much like yourself...no trailer yet) Soooo.......I kept telling myself somebody else has put a HUGE maximum bid on it and there was no way I was going to get it for low bucks. Now before you mount it up get ahold of www.superbrightleds.com and order (8) of the WLED-R5 BULBS. ($2.99 each) and replace those 194's. Great improvement and less drain on the charging system. So congrats on a great buy. I really thought that would go in the $300 to $400 range with everything listed. Enjoy! Mike

Hey Dan......yep I posted the comment on Sea Foam when MidlifeVenture mentioned his issue with the vent lines under the bike. Figured he had a needle sticking. Nuttin' to do with the gas grade in the thread.
-
If it's coming out of an overflow hose under the bike you have a float acting up. Either the float is soaking up gas and sinking or you got crud on the needle or stuck under it. Time to Sea Foam or open it up and take a look. As far a gas smell I had that late last year to. I did find that I had not tightened a clamp on the fuel line going into the pump completely and it had a small drip dropping onto the exhaust pipe. Not a big leak but enough to cause the smell. Couldn't find it with the bike off. Only dripped a bit when it was running.

Hey Jeff. Glad to hear ya got it all back together. Worth the effort isn't it. Should be right behind ya soon. Should have my clutch kit early this week and it's ready to go. Enjoy the ride! Mike

I washed and waxed the car today. Even did the windows inside and out. I'm fully expecting snow tonight. -

And there ya go....... Nice job Gary. That should help some of the guys out with starter problems. Much simpler than what the PO did on mine. Mike

I'm with Bob on this one. Considering what a decent rear light bar goes for let alone a nice hitch with the hardware....the thing is a steal at that price. And even the shipping is reasonable. Curious what the thing ends up going for.

My daughter was the reason I got a cat. It would eat everything that hit the floor and then lick her clean. The cat hit 18 lbs at one point.

Howdy and welcome to the nut house. Check out the left side of the main screen and you will see the MAIN MENU. There is a section there on Venture History. That will explain the difference between the years and the features. I have an '84 myself, a 1st gen, and love it to death. Great ride. The 1st gen is typicaly a more nimble bike, for a 850 lb bike, due to the riders stance on the bike. The 2nd gen went to the cruiser styling. If you're riding the Max and love it, but want more comfort and features for the long ride, the 1st gen might tickle your pickle. If you want something different where you can stretch out a bit...the 2nd gen will do it. As you know the motors are all about the same. 1200 or 1300. Bulletproof. Love the revs. And there is probabaly a line forming as I type to give their thoughts. Reverse gear is available only if you have a girlfriend/wife that don't mind pushing. Hang around. Things to learn here. Mike

Help - Gas nipple came out of Petcock
Snaggletooth replied to Globewalker's topic in General Tech Talk
From my experience...........make sure you give the JB Weld PLENTY of cure time for use around gasoline. I've done a few repairs to petcocks and fuel line fittings with JB and the only ones that never gave me another problem were the ones that cured for more that 48 hours. As for the JB Weld Quik Set.......not even worth the effort. No luck at all. Just my 2 cents. Mike -
For some reason I'm drawn to the Blondes......... Nice looking bike!

Part cross reference
Snaggletooth replied to Rollin Thunder's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Yep, I bought one of the CDs a couple of years ago. You can find your model and it lists all the parts by number, or you can type in your part number and it will list all the other models that also use that part. Sure helps widen the search grid when looking for used parts. Used with the CD for parts breakdown itis a useful tool. Now remember most that stuff is dated pretty badly and prices are not current or even close (as on the breakdown CD) But it helps when buying on the net.
