Now remember Evel let go of his bikes a few times to. (with somewhat more spectacular results) However, I don't think his let goes were planned. Great photo though.

Handy lil critter to. Use the daylights out of mine.

It's right next to the No Frills at 4240 S. 50th Street. The plaza on the west side of 50th just north of "L". Hope you won't need that tap & die set if all goes well.

Craigr, Check out the Westlake Hardware on 50th and "G" Street. I buy all my needed metric stuff there. One decent selection, probably the best in town. They have a pretty nice selection of chrome stuff to including the allen heads. If ya get in a bind let me know. I have the tools ya need to get-r-done. Mike

Vac Bag storage ?
Snaggletooth replied to 6m459's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
You mean like vacuum pack the whole bike? Dat gonna be a biggg baggie! We see some tough weather around here in the winter months. One neighbor was in the same position you're in. No indoor storage. He made a arched wooded frame over a 4 X 8 piece of plywood for a floor and covered it with a tarp and stapled down tight. He had a 75 watt light bulb in a ceramic fixture inside the housing. It was weather tight and most the snow slid off the arched top. The light bulb helped keep the moisture level low inside and provided some warmth for the bike. Seemed to work pretty well. Bike fire right up in the spring. I could look out on a cold night and see a blue glow from his backyard. Kind of odd looking but it did the trick. -
Many years back I stopped at a HD dealer and started laughing when I hit the display floor. Every bike had what appeared to be an oil slick under the side stand. Got to looking and it was rubber pad they used to protect the floor. The sales guy came over and I asked him "You know what that looks like right?" He just chuckled and said "we just want you get used to the idea right off." Good to see they saw the humor in it.

I've seen this before but maybe you haven't...
Snaggletooth replied to SilvrT's topic in Watering Hole
Filmed with a really, really long lens. -
Ok, still trying to figure out the compression ratio to do the vids but I got a couple of still captures to post. The deal is this. With the bike off, or low idle the picture is great. Better than I expected. But......once the bike is starting to ramp up on the revs I start getting a wave in the signal as you can see in the pics. Now....I just had it strapped (firmly) to the top of my switch panel on the left controls. I got hot wires in there......or......in my mind the culprit is the fact I do not run resistor spark plugs. I have new resistor caps and wires....but no resistor plugs. Imput please. Any thoughts..... Anybody else running into this? Mike

Got mine today to. Not a bad looking lil unit. Tougher looking than I expected. All good. Came with enough odds and ends to hook it up to about anything. But like Craigr said.......raining.

Thanks Bryan, Haven't had much time to watch the news today. I guess this is a start. Mike

ABS body, tabs and pin repairs.
Snaggletooth replied to Snaggletooth's topic in Poor Man Tips and Fixes
Yep, I think Russ nailed this one. Great fix. I've only got one pin still intact and three that I repaired. I ordered a set of four and am going to redo mine this winter. Thanks to Russ and Condor for the info. Mike -

That's a great time saver!! Thanks. -
I've had my run-ins with tarantula's at work also. They seem to like to travel in the shipments of bananas. I had the produce manager call me down one day and he was pointing to a box of bananas on the floor from about 10 feet away. Right on top was a dead tarantula. I lifted it out and laid it on his desk and took a look at it. I could see two puncture marks on back of the body. It didn't die from old age shall I say. By that time I had a pretty good group of co-workers hanging over my shoulder. I made the comment that it was probably killed by a larger tarantula during the shipment. I stood up and looked around and I was alone......all alone. Didn't get a lot of foot traffic through the warehouse for a few days. It's a spider folks............

I had a few minutes of slack time today so I thought I'd go over some invoices. Parked my butt at my desk and was sorting things out and I noticed a movement coming towards me on the desk top. Stop...look again.....yep.....spider.....big one. Weird looking. Nothing new really, get them all the time. But this one looked a bit different. So I parked coffee cup over it and got a container. Slipped a piece of paper under the cup and went to flip in into the plastic container. All Heck broke loose when I dropped it in. I thought the dang thing blew up. Well......it didn't. It was female Wolf spider with a full load of lil ones......over a hundered of them as close as I can tell. Quick lil devils. I catch Wolf spiders all the time. I keep them in a 20 gallon tank and feed them crickets. If you have ever had a spider problem in your home......catch a Wolf and keep it fed. Any other spider will vacate the location el pronto!! But since I know everybody LOVES spiders.....here are a few pics of the lil sweety. Oh...and that is an 8" container. So...it's not a lil spider. LOL! Remember to show your wife or girlfriend. Entertainment value. Yes it is.

please help me remove spark plugs
Snaggletooth replied to BigRen's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Remove side panels, lower forward fairing and radiator side panels. Use correct spark plug socket with a swivel, then about a 4 inch extention to the ratchet. That's the trick for me. Socket, swivel, extention. Works fine. -
I'm a fan of the KT1200 but I have to admit....they are high maintance. They thrive on attention. The owners I have talked to around here say just doing the spring tune and oil change can run $500 to $700 bucks. (at the stealer) It would be a whole new game for ya but if you're up to the expense I think you would be happy. Again.....you're familar with the Venture and know your way around and it sounds like you are set up with the parts you want. Me........I'd be riding the Beemer is a flash. Mike

Snaggletooth replied to Brake Pad's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Wait a minute,,,,,wait one danged minute. You mean a dealer is volunteering to do a major overhaul on ALL the carbs UNDER WARRENTY.....without a fight? On their dime? Oh man.....times are tougher than I thought. Or they know something they aren't telling us. But I'm with Bubber on this one. Weird -
I'm game. Just ordered one. Been looking for something other that using my good camera. For that price......what ya got to lose? And I'm ahead of the game anyway. I bought a wrong SD card a while back. Looks like I got a use for it now. Gonna be a lot of video posts in the near future me tinks. Mike

Snaggletooth replied to GaryZ's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Once in a while when I stick all the oil against the rear of the engine case.....it will blink on for a few seconds. I hate seeing the icon....but I love the WOT!! -
side stand ...she be broke!
Snaggletooth replied to Trader's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Welcome to the world of heavy, old, worn bikes!! It's a real hoot getting off one of these things without a kick stand ain't it. Go with Dingy's fix. Easy, inexpensive and strong enough to do the job. I had an extra sidestand when mine broke but I did Dingys mod and went with that. I ordered another bolt for the other stand in case of future problems. Hope it never happens again. I'm not fond of singing alto. Mike -
In this case I think it's pretty much entertainment value.

Yep....shipping charges. Here we go. Did he mention where you could see the bike?
