  1. Rick, I'm gonna get slapped for this one but I wonder if that comes in "Woody" version.
  2. Good Lord Beav, You're gonna get 'em started on the "Safety Chrome" again.
  3. Sometimes you just across a pic that seems to say it all.
  4. Craig, Don't know what you have for a computer but many come with "Ulead VideoStudio" installed with the bundle. It's a bit tricky at times but if you have it it will work. Been cutting mine down to size with it but still playing with the compression to get them down to a decent upload size. Mike
  5. I love it when the wiz kids talk............makes me feel so ..........alone.
  6. Here is another link on the bike. http://www.stumbleupon.com/su/2RL9qW/www.bikeexif.com/art-deco-custom-motorcycle
  7. Well it's clear that you''re not afraid to dive into the motor to get things done. If you've been reading the threads on the clutch upgrade I'm sure you caught the fact that the rotor can a bear to remove if it hasn't been off the crank before. If you don't have a good quality harmonic balancer puller check with your local auto parts stores for a loaner program. A 1/2 impact gun is handy too. Electric or air. Was it a coincidence that this failed right after you did the stator? More than likely. It has probably been going bad for a long time and picked that moment to give it up. Like when I did the clutch upgrade with the full disk and new pressure plate springs on the OTHER side of the bike. Within minutes of closing that up the starter burned up. Or installing an digital voltmeter in the dash and the next day having the R/R fail. It goes with the mentality of "When it rains it pours", or "One thing after another". I always say I'm not rebuilding an old bike, I'm building a new one. A lot of truth in that. LOL Oh and a reminder...... The idea of swapping out the rotor assembly (with engage clutch intact) from the other motor is a good one. As stated, a cheap test. If it is solid it you may be in good shape. Just remember NEVER to try to start the bike without the side cover installed. Seems like a good idea but those idler gears need support on both sides and if they jump out of line they can take pieces of engine case with them. It's only a few extra minutes to slide the cover on and bolt it down to try the starter. Sounds like you have had some practice with that anyway. LOL! Keep us posted on what you find. Mike
  8. Hey Chris, Ok, if I'm following you on this the noise is only during the cranking over of the motor, but not after it starts. Right? If that is the case I'm putting money on the starter engage clutch failing. They make a terrible racket when the three bolts work loose or the clutch body cracks letting the three dogs chatter on the boss of the 72 tooth ring gear that is drivin by the idlers for the starter. The only fix. a new engage clutch and 72 tooth ring gear......or Dano has a upgrade for a bit more $$ which it the final answer for life of the bike. I installed the upgrade in mine after replacing two engage clutches. Do not even try to rebuild one. It's a waste of time and money. Do it with all new parts or the upgrade. Any questions......feel free to ask. Been through it. Mike
  9. Wish I was in the area. I'd meet up with ya for a ride. It's 34 here now and I'm leaving for work in a few minutes on the bike. It's supposed to get to the mid 40's today and I'm not missing a minute of that. It's only three miles to where I work from my house but it can take me an hour to get there. Co-workers come wandering in grumpy looking and chugging coffee and ask me what I'm grinng about. "I got 50 miles it this morning!" They don't get it. Now getting home on a nice day...........that can be a long ride indeed. Does the mind good to get away once in a while don't it. Hope you can get out for a while. Ride safe. Mike
  10. Wait......it's going to get even better!!! They are coming out with "Ice Skating with the Stars"!!! I'm only hoping it's really thin ice over deep water. I have my own show in the works. You take all the jokers from Dancing with the Stars, Survior, Big Bother, Amazing Race and all the other "reality shows" and drop them off on a deserted island. No camera crew, no supplies......nuttin. Leave them there for about six months. Then have CSI come in and investigate how they died. I can certainly understand killing the TV. But threatening the wife with the shotgun was out of line. Wait.....did she have the remote?
  11. My Brother in law just ended up buying a new car. Challenger Hemi. Quite the change for him. He drove Crown Vic's for years, then bought a new Lincoln. He gave his son the Vic (his first car) when he bought the Lincoln. He brings the hemi home and gave his son the Lincoln. (shall I say much to the kids disappointment) The kid is already working on his dad by leaving printouts around the house for new Luxury cars. I know his game plan. LOL! But the kid does pull the hemi out to the end of the driveway about 5 days a week and wipes it down. I can only guess how many girls from his school drive by their house every day. The BIL ain't whining. The hemi is spotless. Except for the drool spots. But that Camero would most certainly trip my trigger. Nice ride. Mike
  12. I'm thinking of you Bob. Heal well. Mike
  13. Ok, right hand side of the bike, the bike on center stand on a level surface. You will be on your hands and knees maybe with a flash light looking at the lowest part of the side lower engine case below the water pump housing. (that big lump sticking out by the crash bars on the right side) You will see a round glass window in the case. There are two scribe marks on that window, one high and one low. The proper oil level should be about center on these marks. If you over fill the oil above the high mark the case vent tube will suck it right up into the air box. Messy.
  14. I'm gonna pencil this one in. Sounds like a good ride.
  15. That's cute. Looks like your bike had a puppy.
  16. Nope...no twister involved in this one. Beautiful day, clear and sunny. Just plain old creative engineering by a farmer with a problem. Shall we say.....back to the drawing board? It was hard to be helpful when you are laughing that hard.
  17. It was a few years back when they first opened the Riverboat casino in Council Bluff, IA. when I decided to go over and take a look around. I was wandering around dropping quarters in the slots and chatting with a friend and we noticed a rukus in the hallway. People laughing and taking cash and running to get in line again. Turned out of the ATM machine there was giving our $100 bills instead of the ususal $20's. Pretty fun to watch. You slide your card, request $100.00 from your acount and it gave you five $100.00 bills. Some were loading up pretty good. Pretty good odds in my book. I don't remember seeing anybody running to tell the managment about the issue either. It took a long time before security came and shut down the ATM. I had to bet that the poor fool that filled the ATM was working as a crossing guard by the next morning.
  18. Ron, Glad you got it taken care of. I spent a lot of years in transportation safety and have friend that owns a towing company. I've seen a lot of different vehicles recovered from some of the oddest places. Every now and then something has popped up that I've been able to use what I've seen and apply it to the bikes. Like I said before, trikes are a bear to move when they give up the ghost. Sidecar rig, about the same. Someday I'll tell ya about the John Deer tractor we had to recover that was hanging from an Oak tree. That you don't see every day. But you're home... the bikes ready to work on so you are in good shape. Let the wiring project begin. Keep us posted on your progress. Mike
  19. Well the new HJC Sy-Max II I ordered arrived today. I've never been a fan of full face buckets before but my experience was rather limited with them. I think this one will help me get past that. I went with the flat black finish as the fashion folks say black is "slimming". Well, ok....it's a XXL so I'll go for anything that makes my head look smaller. Everything helps. But slipped, pulled, tugged or whatever you call putting on a full face. It ain't like dropping the half helmet on for sure. Felt a little tight but worked it around a bit and it found its sweet spot. Comfortable enough. Dropped the chin bar down and it is really close to my chin. Not hitting but I can feel my beard rubbing it. Might need a trim. Yep, that will help. Dropped the sun shield down and it sits nice without rubbing my nose. It could be a shaped a bit different to go lower so you are not looking at the bottom edge. The shield had enough room to fit over my favorite sun glasses to without hitting them. So far so good. I've read complaints about needing two hands to adjust or release the sun shield. They must have changed something but once it gets half way down and locks I can set it anywhere between that point and fully down and release it with one finger. Well it was 36 degrees and a light rain out so what better way to test the helmet I'm going to wear in bad weather. So I geared up and headed out for a ride. A little Plexus on the visor and off I went. I got to say it looks like it's the next favoite bucket. With the visor all the way closed it stayed dry inside. A lil bit of moisture at the bottom seam where it seats into the chin bar but with that rubber seal there it stayed on the out side. I had to crack the visor a bit when I stopped to to clear the fogging but it cleared instantly once I was moving. Not bad. The vent in the chin that blows the air up onto the inside of the visor does a great job. I can't feel any air on my face but the visor blows clear very quickly. Line of view is excellent. Don't have to tilt my head to see the gauges and side vision is far better than I expected. I stopped for a bit and put on my fleece mask. That took care of the bottom of the chin chill. Then off to the Interstate!! As far as buffeting....way better than catching wind under the visor of the Trooper I usually wear. No stress on the neck at all. The fun parts was pulling up by a cage at a light, their wipers going full blast with the the windows closed and the folks inside looking at me like I was insane. How did they know? LOL! But I arrived home warm, dry and safe and happy with the new bucket. You that own one of these know all this so forgive my raving. It's my first full face since I bought my Vetter. Been a few years. For the $159.00 bucks though New Enough......not a bad deal. HJC still works for me. Thanks to those that commented on this thread. Mike
  20. You are going to like the Progressives with the new brace. Makes a world of difference in the handling. As long as you are in the mood to throw money go with the stainless steel brake and clutch lines also. NOW THOSE make a differnce in stopping power!!!! Mike
  21. Sorry....straight across swap.....nope. But.......if you change the entire front assembly you get the rotors and better calipers. Someody that has done this will jump in here soon I'm sure. Mike
  22. I guess that would be a good reason to take a bison along on a hunting trip. Makes for a good distraction to get the bear out of the stand. They do love fast food.
  23. Hey ya Gray Ghost, That line is now considered stolen. It shall be my new screen saver at work. Being of the hearing impaired crowd.......it just works for me. "I am not ignoring you. My fancy new digital hearing aids have decided that you are noise, and have eliminated you " But I ordered a new HJC today from NewEnough. Couldn't pass it up for the price. A little wind noise in the bucket don't bother us old deaf folks much. Thanks for the the replies. Mike
  24. Heya Randya, Be about the same story for Woot, 1saleaday, and probably eBay also more than likely. I have no problem with the purchase or the camera itself. Got it within a few days and it was new with everything included. In my case, I have no problem with what I bought. It does have a good picture and it does what I expected it to do. The issue with the signal interference can be over come I'm sure. It works fine on the car dash, just wavy on the bike where I had it mounted. Working on an option for that. With any purchase by cyberspace there is a risk as the guys that jumped into the LED driving lights found out. I was going to jump in also as it seems like a fair deal, but a minor issue with quality and the signal interference came up so I'm waiting to see how they get past that. Still...fair enough for the price. But the warning is appreciated, and will be kept in mind. And Craigr..... I did pickup a higher capicity (and quality) memory card for it already. Installed it and set it aside. Haven't finished up my idea for the camera mount yet so no test run with the new card yet. Be nice if it was that simple. Hoping for the best. Later Mike
  25. Yep....I was just watching that on the news. Kinda puts a kink in the cruise don't it.
