Even though i have never been able to attend even one of these events in all the years I've been a member here i am saddened to hear of this. I always enjoy following the activities and stories of the guys and gals during these get togethers. For what ever reason you have had to make the call to step back fron doing it this year I'm sure it was not an easy decision to make. I'm sure everyone else along with myself is here to support you and your wonderful wife for anything we can do for you. We're all here for you boss. Like you have always been for us. I feel better after reading the replys here tonight. Reminds me I'm not alone on this subject. After several experiences with my daughters school system I'd seen this type of issue too much. Frustrating for the kids that wanted to express their their feelings for the country they lived in. America. This "PC" stuff is for cowards to hide behind. Make room by the bowl guys. Gonna need room for me to. From my Droid wherever I may happen to be at any given moment.

Made my damper tool with a section of 5/8" all thread double nutted on each end. The Allen on the bottom is 10mm. Once up can get the grip on the damper its all good to go. Inspect those wave washers at the bottom bolt for the oil lock assembly. Replace if damaged. From my Droid wherever I may happen to be at any given moment.

I guess I'm on the "crazy" list. I've been living out in the boonies for a while. I'm about 5 miles from town and 3.5 miles off the paved roads on lime rock roads. There hasn't been a lot of snow here but when there is there is drifting at the crests of the hills where the fields are open. One morning I had been into town early with the trailer on the bike to pick up supplies. Later that morning I looked out to see a county road grader stopped on the road out in front of there I stay and the operator was walking along the side of the road and looking up the driveway. I went out to find out if I could help. The operator said he was just trying to figure out the tracks he'd been seeing and pointed to the three tracks from the road into the drive and along the edge of the bean field then around the back of the shed. I walked him around back and pointed to the bike with the full cover on it and the trailer still hooked up. I had trouble keeping a straight face watching him absorb what he was looking at. Took him a minute to soak up "motorcycle" and "three tire tracks". I suppose the fact snow was involved through him off. He left with a head shake, a hand shake and a grin and good wishes for a long life. LOL. Actually I'm pretty pleased with the Avon's this winter on these roads in snow. I have one bridge over a creek in a low area between my place and the closest paved road that tends to turn my testicles into ovaries when it's snow packed and windswept. At least that's not an everyday problem. Bright side. No salt. They just add some gravel to the worst spots. Kind like mixing in BB's with marbles. Looking forward to summer though. Yep. I am. Yep on the Maxi fuse. Changed mine out with a Maxi fuse holder a few years ago. Ran the leads so it sat just forward of the battery. Pop off the false tank cover and it is right at your fingertips. Keep the fuse holder cover closed with fine zip tie. Cheap and easy. From my Droid wherever I may happen to be at any given moment.

Atta boy Gary. Glad you pulled that together. After changing my cables to 4ga. several years ago it didn't take much to understand how much of a major improvement the heavier cables made. They are the foundation for about every other upgrade to improve starting these old girls rather its a 4 brush starter, adding an AGM or doing Dano's starter engage mod. Don't matter if you don't do any other mods...... these are a great item to upgrade to. Glad to see they are going to be available again. From my Droid wherever I may happen to be at any given moment.

So sorry to hear this news of your loss. Prayers for all. From my Droid wherever I may happen to be at any given moment. -
Been working as a wrench Bender for many years. Always bought the best tools i could afford. Lots of bucks on screwdrivers from top names. Bought a set of 3 JIS screwdrivers about a year ago for under $30.00 from McMaster Carr. Now they are the first ones i reach for. If you're working on any metric these are a must on your tool box. OK. Got another project burning in my head. I moved out to a rather remote area last August. Raised an interesting problem. Finding my bike at night. I've traveled enough to know how dark night can be sometimed but usually on the bike or right next to it the darkest situations. Out here i have to park the bike about 50 ft away from the house next to the garage and camper. Once i close the door to the house i can't even see the driveway on a moonless or cloudy night. Better have a flashlight in hand if i want to get to the bike. So as all my marker, parking lights, running lights and driving lights are all wired on separate harnesses and switches IM looking for a game plan to hook up a remote control switch (key fob style or at least pocket size) i could tie into my lighting controls to activate a relay from a distance to turn on (or off) my choice of lights so i can find the danged thing. I leave all my makers on when i get in late at night and it looks like a UFO out back until i get done getting stuff inside. Just looking suggestions on what kinda parts I'd need to set this up. All i have right now is solder, wire and an idea. Not afraid of the dark. Its just a long walk when you cant see your hand in front of your face. Better than dragging around a flashlight in my pocket all the time. Open to suggestions. Thanks From my Droid wherever I may happen to be at any given moment.

No problem at all. A slow low charge is the best route to go. With the charger you have i would assume its a smart unit. An overnight charge should fix ya up. If the battery is NOT a sealed unit like an AGM make sure to check the fluid level before the charge. From my Droid wherever I may happen to be at any given moment.

clutch upgrade
Snaggletooth replied to rbig1's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Did my '84 back a couple years ago with Skydocs clutch upgrade kit changing out the half disk and new springs. Mine had just started to slip in 5th when cranking on the throttle. Been working great with no slippage at all and pulling a trailer a lot over the last 7 months. Very good fix for a minimal cost. From my Droid wherever I may happen to be at any given moment. -

Instrument Cluster part?
Snaggletooth replied to sebringjim's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
From my experience you are not going to find anything from Yamaha or aftermarket parts. It was long ago only available in the entire assembly only. Even most the dash assemblies i found on eBay and the like were missing that switch cover. What i ended up doing was using an old rubber switch cover from a old flashlight that i stripped out that "almost" fit the hole (round cover/ square hole) and used silicon sealer to attach it. Lasted about a season until it got cold. I've seen some marine quality push button switches that have rubber boots on them that may have possibilities for future replacements. Always got to keep an open mind when working on these old girls. From my Droid wherever I may happen to be at any given moment. -

At 5:00 am this morning I was wishing i was kidding to. Car was in body shop for minor repair and didn't get done for holiday. I had to go into Omaha today so geared up and went. Put on 114 miles today in temps between -2 and 14 degrees. Some freezing rain kicked in about 10 miles from the camper but the last 3 miles are lime rock so no big problem getting back. Did get some weird looks at the drive through window at the Burger joint. LOL. People have no sense of adventure anymore. Now if you will excuse me i need to dig the rest of the handwarmers out of my underwear. Merry Christmas to all. From my Droid wherever I may happen to be at any given moment.
