  1. The biggest drawback I see is the resale issue. But if you are like me, drive 'em until they drop ....... no big deal. If you are comfortable with the current owner and trust the work that has been done I'd feel ok with the purchase. A salvage title in my eyes is always a bargaining chip in the buyers favor to beat on the price. I have seen a lot of nice bikes that were salvaged titled and as that goes, we know a lot of body damage can total a bike and not harm the structure. Cars and trucks I have more concern with due to the weight and structural twisting in a rollover. You get a solid history on the truck and trust the seller ...... it might be fine. Then again.... if you have problems later on, a salvage titled vehicle can be a bear to get rid of. Mike
  2. Every guys says their ex is crazy. Me..........I got papers to prove it.
  3. I replaced all mine with 1/4 inch. Works fine. As far as the breather ..... skydoc_17 has a setup to eliminate the hose all together. That should be listed in the classified ads under his name. (well they were a while back. Shoot him a PM as see what he has) Another option is to do the factory mod to both the breather hose and the drain hose. The attached is poor quality but you should get the idea. A new hose is still available from Yammy and it is a bit shorter than the original. You would need to add a short piece and 90 degree Y connection. The new hose is a lot more flexible and is much easier to work with. You do own a set of 11" needlenose pliers right? Mike
  4. You got it Squid. Hard news for a parent to hear. Safe journey for him and prayers for his son. Mike
  5. Ah dang! I'd just go for the new assembly for that money. (depending on shipping costs) http://www.jpcycles.com/product/330-252 Thanks for the pointer Squidley. Got them bookmarked now. Mike
  6. Crack the bleeder open a bit as you try to pry the pads back. It helps prevent any gunge from being forced back into the master also.
  7. Got me on that one Al. Most the ones I run across are broken or faded almost clear. maybe do a search for Mini Baron lights on one of the sites mentioned.
  8. Now that don't happen very often! LOL. I was in the shop and sat down at the bench to think about where I put them. Looked up at my storage rack and there they were staring at me. So this one is my pick of the litter. Pretty clean with nice surface on the chrome. One nick in the lower edge. From standing height it would not look too bad. Wiring and sockets are good and lights up both bulbs with no flicker. The lenses suck, badly faded, so I keep those for the old candy apple lens project. Let me know if you're interested. Mike
  9. I have a few spares in the shop. Let me take a look at the condition. I'm pretty sure the outer chrome sections all have some minor pitting but can't remember how bad. I see your chrome section is damaged. You need both inner and outer? Lens? I'll post a pic of what I find but it might be tomorrow night before I can do that. Mike
  10. This the one you are looking for? Mike
  11. Haven't caught that one yet that I know of. One in CB the other morning early and one was taken out by a car on 60th street here in Omaha a little later same morning. Actually would have been about 20 minutes behind me on the my ride to work. Same route I ride every morning. Been way to many killed this season aready here. Can't blame it all on the cagers either. The way some of the folks are riding is a death wish. Mike
  12. Sound cool Ruffy. Should be a nice addition.
  13. Naahh... That started LAST winter.
  14. I was just looking at some of his stuff, and scoping out his website gallery. Me thinks you stole that. How big are the panels? Mike
  15. I just ran across this regarding the DUI driver that stuck and killed the four riders last summer from the Omaha and Glennwood, IA area. I knew he pled guilty and got his 50 years for it. Fair enough. But now Iowa has suspended the liquor license of the the store that sold him MORE beer even though the clerk had been warned about the driver being drunk by other motorists that had seen him on the road. He had even been seen hitting a bridge guardrail not far from the store. But they sold him another cold 40 anyway. Ok, suspended.......for three weeks. Three whole weeks. Geesh. Somehow that don't seem like enough to me. MISSOURI VALLEY, Iowa -- Iowa has suspended the liquor license of a convenience store where authorities say a Nebraska man bought beer before a drunken crash that killed four motorcyclists in western Iowa last summer. In a settlement with the Iowa Alcohol Beverages Division, Taylor Oil Company Inc. admits no wrongdoing or guilt. But it doesn't contest the complaint the company sold beer to a person who was intoxicated. The 3-week suspension for the Taylor Quik-Pik store in Missouri Valley begins Thursday and runs until Aug. 18. Andrew Schlichtemeier, of Murray, Neb., was sentenced to 50 years in prison for vehicular homicide. The men killed in the crash were returning from the annual motorcycle rally in Sturgis, S.D. 16. I kid you not......a local church here in Omaha put up a new sign. I was cracking up as I rode past tonight in 94 degree heat. Satan called! He wants his weather back!
  17. My daughter can't figure out why I have a stop watch mounted on my monitor. LOL! Bag & Tag! BTW, that is a nice piece. Might have to look at some of his stuff.
  18. Yikes! A Cowasaki! Or is that a Bulltaco?
  19. Good to hear Gary. Glad it helped. Mike
  20. My '84 did not have one stock. Just the metering valve. Just wrap the valve housing with a rag and crack the line fitting to bleed it. It works. I added the SS lines from Buckeye Performance a couple of years ago and they added a bleeder line that is about 4 inches long off the metering valve. I have it sticking out under the right side of the fairing stay. Nice to have and speeds up the process. Mike
  21. Well I guess he got that far with it. He was muttering about the voltage on that before he left home. Glad you all are having a good time. Wish I could have pulled it off this year but boss didn't see things the same way I did. I need to find a boss that rides. Enjoy! Mike
  22. Damn Earl, that sucks! Glad you are ok, or you will know more when you wake up next time. Getting slammed like that is not good for the body. I have to go to several Walmarts and other stores as part of my part time job 6 days out of the week. It is one on my least favored places to be. People are nuts and their only concern is finding the closest place to park, and they don't care which way they drive, how fast they drive to get there and who is in their way while doing it. I've got to the point where I won't even park in a car space any more. Most the time I park my bike in the end zones right in front of the Police remote station at the worst store. They don't seem to have a problem with it and the cameras are on the area. But again, really glad you are ok and walking around. Good luck on getting the bike back together. Mike
  23. I thought somebody here had done that a while back. Didn't the bike suddenly develope a strange oil leak after it was installed?
  24. Well Gary, as you are headed back to the horsepital tomorrow morning I imagine you might be sitting around loading up on double cheese burgers to hold you over for a few days. Jello just don't cut it ya know. Good luck and heal fast my friend. Mike
  25. Not much to choose from on the 1st gens. About all you will find are some Macs or Jardines once in a while on eBay. Some had made adaptors to use HD pipes or other slip ons. I think someone even ended up with some old school glass packs a while back. Maybe somebody here has something laying around. Mike
