  1. wow they let anybody in here!
  2. Just get a cheap little baster. I imagine they are at the hardware store. I got one from a friend who teaches at HeadStart.
  3. Has no one flipped a bud's kill switch while passing him on the road and hes rubbernecking? Then spend awhile on the side of the road while hes pissing and moaning and trying to figure out why his bike died? That was a favorite in my young and foolish days.
  4. Are they perhaps the size used in the Suzuki GS line? I am still a member of GS resources and they have a shim exchange system. Different tappet tool though of course.
  5. Wow! I just got a quote through their site- $ 142/yr for minimum coverage. I don't see paying more for a 22 yr old bike for which I paid $650. (plus parts lol)
  6. I would suggest US Rt 160 from Durango over the continental divide to I 25 then US 87 to meet I 40 in Amarillo. Rt 160 is really beautiful and u cross the Divide at >10,000 ft altitude. When I went thru there there was snow under the trees- in June! It is mostly 2 lanes with the occasional passing lane. I'm not familiar with the route south of SLC (US6>US191>US491>US160) to Durango. Nor am I familiar with Rt 87 thru Texas. But by then ur into the wide open spaces. P.S. Durango of course has the Colorado Narrow Gauge Museum and trains....if ur into that kinda thing.
  7. Thanks- I have removed the bolt. I then twist and wiggle the muffler to the rear an inch or so....but it won't drop as it is still inserted into the collector. The hanger bracket then comes into contact (inside the piece- its formed metal not solid aluminum) with the footplate mounting. It cannot be moved very far in or out because of the plate to the outside and the bracket/threaded portion to the inside. And the big washer/spacer doesn't clear enough to be extracted. Perhaps treat it like a Harley? Get a bigger hammer and/or breaker bar? That pic shows the plates off the bike? What are those......buttons holding it on?
  8. Yes it is free and wiggles loosely but it must be slid rearward to come off the exhaust collector. In trying to do that the hangar (behind the rear footrest u mention) hangs up on the plate. There is a large thick washer there which won't clear either. Removing that might give room but..... Removing the footrest would be best but its beyond my dim wits. Surely I don't need to loosen the collector?
  9. It always happens........ya think ya know what ur doing and something smacks ya down. I'm removing my right muffler cuz next week I'm going to be removing the rear wheel to install a new tire. I'm wiggling the muffler off and it hangs up on the right passenger platform and.......how da hell do ya remove that !@$!#!%@$^% thing? lol! I looked....and looked.....and laid on the floor and looked up there (no comments please) and.....nodda! I'm stumped! No hexhead to lay a wrench on and..........mechanicus interruptus! BTW I've about decided upon the Shinko 777 for the rear. I have a Shinko Tour 230 on my other bike (Suzuki VL1500LC) and it has been excellent. Only 1500 miles so far so no input on longevity though. There is an almost new Metzeler on the front of the VR. Which says 3601 in the little box. Can that possibly mean 2001? There is no dry rot at all- it looks new!
  10. There is a ferry crosses the lake. About half way up to door county. Check it out- u may like it!
  11. You say front but give rear sizes? I assume you mean rear. As it happens I've just been checking mine....and I have an Avon MT90 on the rear. Which is a replacement size for 130/90-16! (Mine is a '91 Venture Royale) This tire has been on the bike for awhile- to the point where it is cupped and dry rotted and needing replacement. So ya it works.
