FUN FUN FUN I had a 56 Ford with a 312 Y block in it.. Took off for Mt. Rushmore with out telling my folks. Called collect from Rapid city. Told me to get my ass home in five minutes. 1,000 miles. I think my dad was still mad to the day he died. He did the same thing, but he was different.

I want to do a survey of who has had problems with thier rear brakes locking up in an emergency situation. What happened, injury, accident or death. How do you know what happened? Did you find your rear brake difficult to modulate? Was the front brake used also? What is you normal stopping proceedure. Have you practiced emergeny stops? Please add any relevant information you think would be valuable. Please be brief this is just a survey. I am going to try to keep this thread for a week and then let you all know the results. Not looking for solutions. Thank you.

Kit, Does this mean........NO HARLEY? Inquiring minds want to know. Please tell me what information I can help with. I would suggest that e-mails do not work. however, if you would like me to write a letter to Yamaha corporate, I will. I suggest that registered mail, return receipt required gets ATTENTION. We need to find the names of people who are decision makers and those are the ones who get the job done. at YAMAHA

Buddy, what is the filler neck mod?
-
Don, you are a better man than me. I would not even attempt it. But I want to learn.

Kit, you are getting a good deal. The wants your business and sounds like he will treat you fairly down the road. I work for a large car dealer in Madison, WI and have sold, managed, and now am on the road buying and selling wholesale. "You did good, buddy." I hope you keep around this forum...I can't afford to loose any friends and you sure seam like one. This for Redneck...you are not going to beat a dealer at his own game. He will walk you first. Kit, let's see some pic's of your new scoot, and does it have the ABS option?

Uneven Rear Brake pad wear - sticky caliper
Orrin replied to BikerJake's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Jake, I had the same problem. One pad completely gone and the other like new. They have a problem with the rear caliper sticking. My dealer says that he tried to get it covered but they would not go for it. My mechanic got everything loosened up and so far no problems, but I have not pulled it apart to check to see if it is still sticking or operating OK. Does not appear to decrease the effectiveness of the rear brake. I can attest to that. Becareful trying to get the pistons working, you definitely do not want those pistons to come out of the cylinders. -
Rick, let me know how it is going. Hang in there and live long and healthy.

Wayne, a lot of us have problems with the quality of Fram filters. i personally would not use them. There are much better ones out there and I am sure others will jump in also Do a search and I am sure you will find out much more that you needed to know.

Zach, just received in the mail the Lifesaver vlave. Looks good and can't wait to get back on the bike and try it out. Thanks:cool10:

Jack, I have a Morgan Carbtune Pro that I like and seam to do a good job. The only comment I have is that you would have to hook and unhook with only 2 inputs in to the synchronizer. For example: sync 1-2 then 3-4 and then sync 1,2-3,4 so thre steps in stead on one. I know from my Morgan that I like to see all 4 carbs at once and you won't be able to do that with this. Hope this helps. Maybe you can review it for us.

I think Condor and Stoutman are right on!
-
Kit, I have both as you can see by my signature and I sure do like em. This sport, hobby has enough dangers as it is. I consider you a friend, you don't stop being friends because you ride a different brand of bike. Tell us what you do. Inquireing minds want to know. I would spend some time on a few Harley forums and you will find out that HD has their own bunch of quirks also.

How does it work? Do I need special link or software?
-
Don, I agree with Sweetnothing. They have to be given to you to work. Not superstition...just plain fact. I will Paypal you $20 you and I can send out. I would like to help you on this. Too many bad things have been happening to too many good people on this site. Me being one of them.
-
Kit, I agree with you on this. Yamaha must continue to improve these rides or they will get left behind. You don't even have to change them much cosmetically, just keep improving the features and technology.

I work in the car business and we have a rule of thumb. You put your resources where you get the most results. For example, our Honda store is doing huge volume and our Isuzu store is doing practically nothing. We spend our advertising dollars on the Honda store and very very little on the Isuzu store. Our Isuzu people want more ad dollars but those dollars won't produce results because there is little demand for the product. Well, same with Yamaha. The Road Star line is doing great volume and the Royal Star line is slow. The Road Star line will get the resources, it is just good business. UNLESS, Yamaha thinks they want to take on Harley and Honda in the touring cruiser market. Then you might see something. I hope so, but will not expect it.

Judge them by their actions. They don't lie. They NOT are spending on marketing, so they are not spending on R&D or up grading the Venture RSTD line. It will be phased out before 2010.

Zach, looks like one of the other guys will get one of your Lifesaver before Iget mine installed and tested. I hope so. This product I think will do well with our group. Thanks for honoring the price. That is very stand up!
