Kit, put a little masking tape over the velcro tabs you want to remain open. Works like a charm and if colored correctly won't look bad.
-
You know, I like white. Makes you more visible, especially with a black jacket.

John, welcome to the club!!!!!! I am sure others will be along, more qualified than I am to diagnose your chirp. These bike are famous for noises. If you don't get much response repost on Watering Hole.

Sounds like you have a good dealer. Glad to hear it. Please see Debelt's thread.

Kit, you brought up some real good points. If you want to increase incomes, grow your economy, decrease welfare, eliminate racism, reduce deficits,, and raise your overall standard of living, SPEND MORE ON EDUCATION. (Hey, I just hijacked this thread!) Think anyone will notice?

Electrical components as they age generally work better when cold. Get her good and hot (boy, there is an idea) and see how it runs. if you have a failing part it should show up then.
-
Don't worry about the books. You will be able to get some compareables. I bet they treat you fairly.

Kit, we all know there are good and bad to everything. Most dealers that I know want to do a good job. Please document every bad experience you have had with the people where you bought the bike and go to the owner. My guess is he will want to make it right. The dealer I work for says,"If the problem gets to me, it is free." He then charges back to the failing department. Let him know who, what, and when. I bet it goes better.

First, don't get too excited, think clearly. 1 He damaged you , so his insurance has the obligation to restore you back to where you were before the accident happened. 2 Give the adjuster a chance to look at the damage. 3 Be polite, these guys are pros and know how and where to get things done. 4 If they want to total the bike you have the right to match the salvage bid and keep your ride. 5 Be prepared to document to mechanical condition of your bike and to prove the value of the options you have on it. Think clearly and don't get mad. Are you sure they have insurance and did you get a police report?

I agree. Although I am not a fan of CT I have to support him on this. We have had too many inflamatory posts lately on sbjects that most of us will always disagree.
-
Don, I have to agree with you. HD's store and customer service is far better than I have had with metric dealers. HD is doing so many things right.
-
Thank you Jeff. Gary, I will be thinking about you and your whole family. I know what you will be going through. You have a lot of support my friend.

Kit, we need pictures. let us know how it works out. I have anew clearview on order. May want to shorten it. I don't like face shields. So, I like the tall shield.

Has anyone met him or know him personally outside of this forum? Maybe they could call like Hipshot said.

You know, this waving thing is really beginning to catch on. Maybe we should start waving to cagers, then they might see us more often and not be so tempted to run us over. No no no not one finger waves either. Whole hand and friendly like...yes yes yes I like that idea.
-
J.B. good luck with the bike. Sounds like an ad"venture" for you. No pun intended. Please keep us posted as to how it goes. Those of us who are laid up are riding with you.

Thank you everybody, we are getting some really good information here. I hope it will save some accidents in the future. let's keep the information coming. I would like to end this thread and compile the results next weekend and then post results later in the week.

Orrin replied to VTirelli's topic in Watering Hole
Deer are a huge problem in Wisconsin also. Dept of Natural Resources estimates that deer herd is 25 times greater than during the Civil War. (now there is an oxymoron) I worry about it all of the time when rideing. Try to stay on roads with wide shoulders and plenty of lateral visibility. I think WI has the highest density of deer per square mile of any state in the union. Becareful. They guy who wrote the column "Staying Safe", Larry Grotski, I think, was killed by a deer in Texas. -
Kit, Thanks for the input. I am trying to get a feel for how many people have had problems with rear brakes locking up or are very difficult to modulate in emergency situations. This is appearing to be a fairly common occurance.
