After a few days, we can laugh about some of the things that took place. After the crash, I got up off the road and removed my jacket and helmet, walked to the ambulance to be checked, and they cut my shirt off and my new jeans almost to the crotch! Would have cut my jacket too if I hadn't taken it off. After 5 hours in the ER I got to go see my wife. I expected to see her dressed (or undressed) just like me. WRONG! She was still in her jacket, shirt and jeans. She simply got feisty with them and told them they were NOT cutting up her outfit! Guess I should have thought of that. When we were finally released, she walked out looking fine. I walked out without a shirt and my pantlegs blowing in the breeze, and patches of hair pulled off my chest from the sticky things! Tomorrow I'll see about getting the bike back to the dealer for an estimate. Then I'm sure the fun will begin with the insurance people. Health-wise we are doing better. Mostly just sore. Thanks for the prayers-they really do work. Mark

Better order dessert too! If your wife is like mine, she'll still be talking an hour after the shower ends! Ride careful!

Take the road from Mack. along the lake(I think it was 119) to Harbor Springs and Petoskey. Follow 31 from Petoskey to Charlevoix. Go over the bridge in Char. and turn right toward the lake. Beautiful huge houses and nice scenery. Also stop at Bay Harbor to look around,(between Pet and Char). I'd never seen a yacht dealer before! Must be tied to income level somehow! Some trees were starting to turn colors already, so by then it should be colorful. Happy Anniversary!!!!!! Mark

that will be a cool thing to tell your grandkids about.... and then try to explain who Rod Stewart was! Mark

This time it's me! Coming down a small hill, in a light rain, we came to a 90 degree bend. As we entered the curve....oh no it's covered in very fine gravel. As we began to slide we hit the guardrail at about 25 mph. We flew off the side and landed in the road. We just got home from the hospital an hour ago. I have bruised ribs from hitting the handlebars (I think), wife has a concussion. Thank God it was nothing worse,(but the ribs are still hurting!). We were hauled away before the bike was, so in the morning I'll have to track it down. It didn't look pretty when I last saw her laying on her side with her front wedged under the guardrail. Now, advice from you that have "been there done that", what are my next steps? If you were at Don's for maintainence day maybe you saw our baby. She is/was a white RSTD with chrome and gold/silver pin-stripping with 3 crosses on the tank and fenders. Hopefully she will look like that again someday! Mark

Eddy, Sorry to hear of your accident. Thank God you were not hurt worse than you are. You will be added to our list of injured to be praying for. (The list is getting too long for my liking!) Mark

Don, Just PP'ed for two bells. If its cheaper for you, put the bells and my mugs together and ship one time instead of two. Thanks! Mark

Boomer, sorry to hear the news. You are in our prayers for a complete recovery. Mark

in my recliner! Seriously, if you find someone from east central Ohio, Flint Ridge is famous for the quality of flint. It was traded as far away as the coast by the very early Indians. While the ridge area itself is in a state park, you can still get the same flint along the park boundaries. Here is a link to someone there that might be a source. http://www.flintridgeflint.com/ Happy knapping! Mark

There is a vintage bike rally in Wauseon, Ohio this weekend. It is straight west on the pike from you. I'll be working there tomorrow so I'll look for that bike. Also, the motorcycle hall of fame from Pickerington, Ohio will be there. If you like old bikes it's a good time! Mark

Is it common for the rear shock to fail? Or is it just an occasional thing? If its a common thing then you're right. He should get a shock on hand so I'm not making 2 trips, but whats the odds of him doing this? Mark

and the dealer says its 3 weeks before he can look at it. Then if he thinks its covered under warranty he'll order one, and I'll have to make another 140 mile round trip to get it installed. When pressed about the time, he said that they are really busy with the holiday and all. (Is tomorrow a holiday that I've missed?) This throws a damper in the plans to take the bike on our vacation next week. And thats the dealer I bought it from! Don't ya just love 'em?

But there were other good ideas too. Yes ruffrider, if you would send me your template that would be great. Thanks guys. I appreciate your ideas. Mark

Boys, boys, don't argue. Both of the little trees were very nice! Still looking for that one special flap! Thanks, Mark

At maintenance day I was looking at the rear flaps on the bikes. I've got my order in for a Venture Dad hitch. One flap I saw had a cut out for the stinger to fit through and a plug to cover it with a star concho on it. Any idea whose bike or where I can get a similar flap? Thanks as always for the help. Mark

but once again, you have a great family and pass our thanks on to them for such a nice time! Mark

Met both for the first time at maintance day. Both seemed to be first-class guys. Good choices! Good luck with your new responsibilities. Mark

Sometimes I feel that we think too close to home to see this completely. I don't remember all the stats but the demand for oil (and other resources) is a worldwide demand. China and other developing countries are increasing their demand for energy at a huge rate therefore competing with us for available supply. Even if we all started walking everywhere prices probably wouldn't fall much if at all. It's not just our vehicles that need fuel. Everything we manufacture requires energy to make it or run it. Our personal consumption of electricity is much greater than when we were kids. We are still using oil fired generators in some places. We really should be looking at all aspects of energy use but for some reason the politicians are avoiding it. I like my life and don't really want to go back to little house on the prairie days. I don't see any easy or quick fixes to this but we do need to do something. Not meaning to stir the pot, just my two cents worth. Mark

That looks fantastic. Sometimes I get real jealous of you guys that have the talent to do your own mods! I see some sales potential in those extenders. Something to think about. Congrats! Mark
