RSV vs BMW, Goldwing, and Harley Direct Comparison
Snarley Bill replied to SledgeHammer's topic in Watering Hole
don't think the thread is about bike bashing, just wonderment in how they arrive at their conclusions. they seem way off to me. most all think they have the ultimate bike ,as they should. but in the real world some bikes just out shine others in certain catagories. the venture to me out shines the wing in rider seating position and the real traditional motorcycle appearance. from there on the wing out shines the venture on everything else. the only thing that puts the bikes in the same class is they are both tourers. the beemer may handle like a wing i don't know but the others don't come close. none will out power a wing at any rpm. i can pull hills smooth as silk two up at 1500 rpm and easily accelerate smoothly. i get 44 mpg no matter how i ride it. almost zero maintenance. wide open accessory market, etc. i'm not bias toward the wing because i have one, it,s just the facts. i ride my majesty scooter and my nomad far more than i do my wing cuz there's thing i like better about them. like i don't have to shift the scooter and it gets 56 mpg. the nomad looks like i want a bike to look and once in awhile i like the v-twin rumble and feel. if you like your bike thats what counts. -
they sell injector cleaner because they know the same folks that buy oil additives will buy it. i have five bikes with injection and never had a problem. in fact it has been years since i have had a motor vehicle with a carb. in several 100,000 miles i have never had an injection related problem on any of my bikes or vehicles. no doubt injection is far superior to a carb.

RSV vs BMW, Goldwing, and Harley Direct Comparison

no reliability issues that i know of. mine is so trouble free i often forget i have to change the oil. lots of wings out there with over 500 thousand miles. the only major issues with the 1800 wings was frame cracking on the early 1800 and alternator drive problems. those have both been well addressed and fixed by honda. they are a bear to work on, but you never have to work on them. -
RSV vs BMW, Goldwing, and Harley Direct Comparison

first off the venture is on my list as one of the best looking bikes going. the wing is also very good looking. as far as performance no comparison the wing wins hands down, touring wise non will match a wing. most power best handliing, etc. the only fault i have found with the wing is lack of room for floor boards. if you have good knees and legs no problem. i have a ruptured lower disc, so it bothers my legs, so do all the sport tourers. the wing has been chosen the no. 1 tourer for many years by several mag's. i was thinking the other day about buying a new venture, cuz i really like the looks. i just could'nt trade the power and handling of my wing for looks. someday i may get down to one bike. the voyager and victory crossroads is at the top of the list. it would probably be the victory. i sure do like all of your ventures they are beautiful. i really liked my venturized rstd., and often times miss it. but in the real world the wing is the no.1 tourer. -

well, after putting almost 7000 miles on my 08 1600 kaw. nomad, i have decided it is a keeper. i wanted one from the day they first came out. in the 90's. then last year when i arrived at the international at the hub there was a nomad sitting there that looked like new. it was the dark green that i fell in love with in the nineties. i was going to approach the guy with an offer and it was gone. well that sparked my urge to buy one. we'll long story short after shopping around i got an 08 1600. what a bike it is. i have done quite a bit to it to personalize it to my liking. anyone that wants the v-twin experience. i recomend a nomad . the only up front complaints were the lean engine conditions that the cobra 2000r fixed, and the ultra quiet exaust, which the cobra true duals took care of. anyone that wants a v-twin i 100% recommend the nomad as no.1 on the list. bill

A Small Treat for the Wingnuts
Snarley Bill replied to GigaWhiskey's topic in Honda Goldwing Tech Talk
thats awesome. i've was thinking about doing something similar to that to an 1800 wing. no more bike builds for me. i'm going to down size and retire again. got to clear the stable a little. back to barbequing, a little beer drinking, and smelling the roses. -

i really like the titanium. my wife said know you don't, you like red. so i guess i'll have to stick with my dark red one. the boss has spoken red it is.

glad your doing well and enjoying your max. you'll be hittin the nines soon maybe more tire and a wheelie bar. the zx just won't keep the front in down. i put the air shifter on cuz i can't let go of the bars to clutch it. just don"t seem to have the nerve i once did. seems like things fade out with age. going to have to just start enjoying the scenery.

i predict swifty will be a winger soon. he even looks like a winger. and talks like winger, eh.
-
hey squeeze, how ya been? my all time favorite bike is still my 89 v-max. with the kerker 4 into one exaust and the comp. baffle, it had a sound like no other bike, and balls out arm stretching power. it would run high nines at 140 mph in the 1/4 mile with a slick. i will try to dig up some photo's of it. the guy i sold it to about 12 years ago still has it and it looks as good as new. the thing i like about the max is they aren't wheely prone. they just smoke and go.
-
the only thing major is the frame cracking on the early 1800 wings. it was a major recall. otherwise i think all the wings were great bikes.

i took it out for a ride yesterday morning, almost changed my mind. it's got 1400 miles on it and i have the title. i am asking $9800,00 for it. it has chrome wheels and lots of other chrome, power commander with custom map, msd shift light, mps air shifter, pazzo levers, boz broz gp exaust, autometer oil pressure gauge, gipro, vortex rear sprocket, lowering links, 200 rear tire, carbon fiber side panels, and much more. the motor has 200 plus hp, and is capable of 200 plus mph if not for the 186 mph speed limiter. i built it with vision of running the texas mile cuz i wanted to be a member of the 200 mph club. old age caught up with me. can't safely handle the g force with my blood pressure med. the gipro tricks the computor into thinking it is in 6th gear all the time and gives you more spark advance in the lower gears and opens the secondary butterflies at a low rpm. this bike is incredibly fast. i have the oem exaust and other parts that go with it. i will even throw in an extended swingarm that i have not yet installed.the bike looks showroom new and it demands respect.
