i had a cushman highlander that i restored several years ago. i sold it to a fellow in tenn. they were one of my favorite cushmans. that 811.40 is a rare one. check out www.dennis-carpenter.com for new parts and cushman info. bill

the frames at the sand blaster, and i just fired up the new motor for it. i bought a new 13 hp, 389 cc, overhead valve, electric start motor, from harbor freight. that along with the cvt, comet clutch, should set a cruising speed around 65mph, top speed around 75 mph. i'm using a zx-14 rear disc and caliper for the front brake and the original drum brake in the rear. it should stop good and run with the hardleys uo to 50 mph., with it's low weight of 275 lbs.. getting excited about getting my frame back so i can start machining parts for the drive train and get the motor mounted. i'm also going to 10" polished aluminum wheels with michlein tires to improve the handling. to finish things off i am going to paint it silver and blue clear coat to match my nomad. it will look original except for the wheels, disc brake, and fancy paint job. should be a real sleeper at the cushman meets. for all you folks that had and loved cushmans when you were young , they are still very popular. there are thousands of them around. check out some of the cushman sites. it makes a great hobby. there are alot of meets, and nice people involved in them.

does,nt look like i'm getting a whole lot of response on the meramec state park meet. it's only a month away. if any one is coming for sure, or thinking about it let me know and rsvp on the calender. if we don't get enough for a meet. i will have to cancel it. i don't want to go through the prep mapping rides, etc., if no one is coming. i took 2 weeks vacation and will make other plans. it will be a great meet but we need folks to attend.

would love to have you for your first meet. the camp ground is at the opposite end of the park, about a 5 minute drive. we will make sure you get back to your camp site safely after the nitely get togethers. lol.

got to looking at my winter project yesterday (a 1959 cushman pacemaker), and it looked so pathetic i just had to tear into it. tore it all apart and it's ready to sandblast, went to harbor freight and bought a 13 hp, motor, so it looks like all systems are go. it will have a comet cv automatic which i had in stock, and i'm planning on painting it medium metallic blue and silver to match my nomad. hoping for a cruising speed around 65 so i can keep up with traffic. since i'm working towards my second retirement, i just had to come up with another hobby so i'm back in the cushman gang.

anyone thats planning on attending, rsvp on the calender, and get that motel room reserved. it is the end of labor day week. the motel area in the park is a rustic wooded area. there are motels in sullivan about 3 miles away, but it would be nice to have everone in one place.

looks like we may have another party like the hub meet. bring on the apple pie and cindy and dale may be enticed to come. it will be alot cooler for this one. hope so. :clap2:

like i said i have a miller 185 which will do just about anything you want to do. i also have a miller ac dc stick welder. i hardly ever use it any more, unless i am in the wind or the surface to be welded is'nt real clean. the nice thing about the mig is there is no slag. it makes a very clean weld compared to the stick welder. the wind will blow the shielding gas away on the mig, leaving a crappy weld, it's harder to get into tight places with the mig gun, you can weld aluminum with the mig if you get a spool gun and another pure argon tank. main thing is look into what you may do in the future so you don't come up short on a welder.

i agree with brad. stick with a name brand like lincoln or miller. i have a millermatic 185 and it is the cats meow. you get what you pay for. 220 gas is the only way to go. you will grow out of them little 110 welders real fast if you do any kind of work at all.

just some info for those that are planning on attending the meet. the host motel is in the park and looks very nice and is very secluded in the woods. rooms are still available so make reservations as soon as possible. reservation phone no. is, 1-888-637-2632. the park website is www.meramecpark.com/ . i have some awesome rides planned. the sightseeing, and activities in this area are endless. plenty of restaurants and a nice one at the gift shop in the park. the park is 3 mi. off i-44 at sullivan missouri. we will take a beautiful ride one day to visit the whineries in historic herman, mo.. the weather this time of the year should be perfect for riding. hope to see some of you folks there. bill
