i'm sitting here with tears in my eyes writing this. i just talked to la on the phone, and he is'nt doing to well. i know he will be mad at me for posting this but i think all his friends should know. he has'nt been on the site since last december cuz he does'nt want folks to feel sorry for him. he said he does'nt go much farther than the grocery store any more. it's hard for me to picture the ambassador not out on the road heading to visit with one of us. i don't know if he gets on the computer anymore at all. but his phone number is on the members list. he is a true friend and i really miss riding with him and his drop in visits. i just wanted everyone to know his situation even if he does'nt. he sounded really depressed cuz he can't do the things he really loves anymore. maybe some of us can cheer him up a little. bill

darn lewis go easy on them deer. i have had so many close calls with deer, and hit one with my honda helix several years ago. took the whole front end off the scooter and smashed my radiater. sure does tighten your butt up. glad your okay buddy.

how many folks on this site have a strat, roadliner, roadstar, or warrior. i was thinking if there are enough of us we could get don to start a tech section for them, like we did on the goldwing, since all four are close to being the same.

we have been eating tomatoes out of our garden since may 29th. i'm so sick of green tomatoes. really they were ripe. must be global warming.

hey dan, did'nt know if you still had your strat. i sure lke mine. i screwed up and put the patrick racing big airkit on mine, and the intake noise is terrible. may go back to the oem aircleaner. i also have the new cobra autotune and d&d slip-on. the exaust sounds great and she really runs strong but the intake noise is as loud as the exaust. hope to see you down the road. come on down.

i never raced a wing but have read on the strat site that guys have run right with them. my wing was awful fast. i don't think the strat would stay with the wing in low gear. in the curves is another close call. i could drag metal on both of them, and they both feel secure and predictable. if some one wants a decked out tour bike the strat was'nt meant to be one like the wing or venture. the wing still sets the standard for touring bikes. my knees and legs just would'nt work with the tight leg quarters on the wing, no fault of the bike itself. i still say the max is going to evolve into the next gen yammer tourer. steak dinner still pending. i did'nt forget. ps, freezy come on down to my meet and eat again in a couple of weeks. hope to see you there good buddy.

i agree the s is dripping with extra chrome. i bought my left over 09 strat s new on ebay for $11,450 out the door.

the strat is a roadliner with windshield and bags. the roadstar is a totally different bike. the thing i like least about my strat, is i can,t stay off of it. it sits very low, handles like my wing, has balls out power, may be as fast or faster than my wing, hard to tell, totally different power delivery. no engine heat at all. stock seat sits low and very comfortable for me. it is very smooth for a v-twin, and the ride is ultra smooth. the consensus is the cause for the short life for the rear tire is a heavy hand on the throttle. the thing has such tremendous lowend torque i have a tendency to acelerate harder than i realize. it feels so good. the bars leave a little to be desired, if you don't have long arms. i have a nomad 1600, and a v-star 1300, i like to ride them both but the strat just has a certain magnetism about it so it gets rode the most. low speed handling is excellent. the engine is noisy but not annoying like the dreaded chirp. what else can i say.

hey eck , thats a great idea. here's another great idea. buddy is putting on my eureka springs meet at the edelwiess in september labor day weekend. what better central location to have a reunion meet. we had a really great one last year. maybe we can get aussie annie and quickstep over here again. we already have our reservations. still have plenty of time. its buddies meet will check with him. how about dragon rider, and la, dooder and doodette, redneck and wolfie, maybe we could drag freebird down there. just a thought. dallas was my mentor. he made me snarley bill.

just heard from pegster. he said he does'nt have a bike yet and misses all his friends on here. there seems to be alot of members that fell by the way side. sure do miss them. i guess it's a sign we are getting old. i emailed a few of them like dooder, cinderella, la, etc., but haven't heard back from them yet.

hey don, get used to it. you ain't seen nothin yet. after 65 everything is down hill with the wind. when you reach 70 things break and don't heal anymore. you start to face the fact that you just ain't got a whole lot of useful life left. i live strictly for tomorrow and worry about the next day if it gets here. if i thought i was going to get this old i would have changed my oil more often. hate to be so blunt but old age just happens all of a sudden.

i got a wrench from napa the right diameter, the trick is putting the wrench af the end of the filter so it won't crush it when you put the twist on it. don't overtighten the new one. just snug it.

i am changing the location of the montgomery city meet june 21st,22nd,23rd to st. charles,mo. every thing including the rides will be the same. the new host motel will be red roof inn, 636-947-7770, 2010 zumbehl rd. right off i-70 in st. charles. i should have done this in the first place. the last two meets i had here were big ones. i'm just not getting much interest in montgomery city. check under meet and eats for the new details. bill

just got home from the meet. great fun great people, and lots of them. lewis counted 34 bikes but there were more to come. total success and lots of food. think everyone helped out a bunch for dragon riders st. jude fund. thanks to b2 mom and dad for a great time
