Rear axle spacer left off by stealer
Snarley Bill replied to maineventurerider's topic in Watering Hole
the only thing i will let the dealer work on, on my scoots is minor recalls. it is like any business. you have people that give a crap, and those that don't. not to mention the stupids that are out there. most dealer owners are decent, but they have to put up with worthless aholes if they want to have some one to work for them. i am a machinist, and some of the ding bats i work with scare the hell out of me. what do you do to fix the problem? learn to work on your own stuff. you can't fix stupid. as usual i'm glad i'm as old as i am. i lived in the good times. -
i did notice that the handle bars were awful close. it looks like there is alot of room for driver floor boards unlike that of the wing. the big negative for me is the small engine. 990 cc',s come on. after having two bikes close to 1900 cc's it seems a little anemic. i saw a guy get on one, one time and it was a little sluggish looking. i can''t imagine 2 up, with a loaded trailer, and 990 cc's. it's got to be a pooch.

i went by a motorsports dealer to look at the new canam rt touring model. they had a gray one there that really impressed me. linda and i sat on it on the show room floor and it really surprised us how comfortable it was, even with the rider foot pegs. we were there about 1/2 hour and was never aproached by a salesman. i really want to ride one. we went home and i priced one out on the canam website. it was right at $29,000 for the limited edition. i figured up one without all the goodies and it came out about $22,000. way out of my range, but i just have to get a ride on one. curiosity is killing me.

i still stand by my prediction from 2 years ago. the new max is the test bed for the 3rd gen. the economy put the whole thing on hold just like it did on thr new wing. the new wing was supposed to have been introduced last year, but honda chose to update then old one. boy did they screw up a good bike. no ones going to intro a new bike when no ones spending money.

darn buddy, thats coming up fast. guess i better put in for a couple of weeks vacation. looking forward to seeing you and peg and everyone else. if the edelweiss is full there are plenty of other motels nearby. my guess is there will be alot of folks on bikes down there.

Time to discuss the 2013 International Rally
Snarley Bill replied to Freebird's topic in Watering Hole
don, i enjoyed hosting the international at the hub, and the facilities were complete for an international. motel on site, great convention hall, nice restaurant on site, and some of the best most scenic riding in the usa. not going to stick my foot in my mouth yet but i may volunteer to do one more international. it would be an honor to do it again. we are having the fall meet and eat in ar. and linda and i were going to take a ride to the hub to see how randal and debbie are doing. they were great hosts and bent over bacwards for us. i know the motel was,nt the fanciest around, but they are busting their butts to make a go of it, and they really apprieciate all the help they can get. we have plenty of time. maybe we could shoot for a cooler time next year. how about combining your maintenance day with the international at the hub? you no i need someone with computor savvy. just one of my wild ideas. lol bill- 101 replies

there are alot of them out there. i gave $350.00 for the one i'm selling. just look for cushman on the web. ive got one i'm working on now, a 1958 eagle. it can probably be had for $45,000. 00. it is a prototype i'm building for a friend. he may sell it. the last one i built for him will out run most motorcycles. they are both v-twins with custom built billet aluminum 4 speeds we designed and built just for the scooters.
-
don't forget the ice cream man. i used to stand there with my nickle waiting for the cushman to come down the street with my popcicle.

i'm getting alot of folks interested in my cushman, which i was'nt expecting. it's for sale but not quite yet. there are a few bugs that i need to iron out before i sell it. here's the scoop. it is a 58 pacemaker. that looks original on the outside almost. it has a honda 390 cc clone engine that is built to the hilt. with a comet cvt automatic transmission. it is electric start, has a custom made hydraulic disc brake in the front, overcize polished aluminum wheels with tubeless motorcycle type tires. it is absolutely gorgeous, and has a $2000,00 dollar two tone paint job. silver and medium blue clearcoat. the bugs i need to iron out have to do with safety. i overbuilt the engine and it is just to fast for the particular model it is. i took it to georgia last summer and had a few close calls in the curves. it will probably run over 70mph like it is. i would'nt want anyone getting hurt. when i get time i want to detune it a little. smaller carb, and stock head. it is very well engineered. i built it last winter and rode it about 400 miles. i put $6000.00 in it not including my labor. i will want $6000.00 for it firm when i sell it. i have folks waiting in line for it that have seen it. i just can't sell it until i have it perfect. that may be awhile cuz i'm bulding an eagle for my buddy so it has priority. i got some pm's about pics i will work on that. every part in it except the frame forks and body are brand new including the engine and drive train.

we will be in memphis. linda said she needs a couple of new st. jude t- shirts.

well, age has finally caught up with me so i'm getting ready for retirement a second time. i only have four bikes left. my stratoliner, v-star 1300, majesty 400 scooter, and a 1958 cushman pacemaker scooter. the v-star is on the auction block and the strat and majesty are keepers. the cushman is going too. the cushman is totally restored and up dated with the latest technology and is probably one of the nicest looking ones in the country. as long as i can get my leg over the strat i will keep riding. it gets rougher every time i ride. i figure i can make it another year. anyone interested in a v-star or a cushman pm me.

check with www.mcmastercarr.com they carry metric button head bolts. don't know if they have stainless.
-
if they are 400 they will be magnetic. if you are replacing the button head rotor bolts. why not use the original type bolts. they should be available from the dealer.

i just spent the weekend with some of my dear friends that i would'nt even know if it weren't for that measley $12.00 a year investment. in fact i have spent alot of time with alot of friends that i have met on here over the last 7 years. i wish i had dons computor savvy, that keeps this site running as smooth as it does. we had a crash in 06 and lost the site for a time, until don got it up and running again. we have bought folks motorcycles, and donated money to help many people, collected alot of money for st. jude, etc., cuz it's just the kind of people that we are. if you think this site is just a hobby, it ain't. it is alot of work. i bug don every once in awhile when i need some info or something else done as i'm sure many other people do, and he gets right on it. if don could make a million more power to him. it still cost me $12.00 a year for enjoyment i can't put a price on. i'm a member of many websites and this one is my only home. i don't even own a venture. so join in and don't ***** about something so trivial.
