  1. i personally think 117 mph is pretty fast when you figure the weight ,size, and the fact that it is only 1300 cc's.if my rstd would do an honest 117 i would'nt complain. it will run 85 in second gear by the speedo before it hits the rev limiter at 7200 rpm.i think thats pretty good.these ain't no race bikes.i think 60 to 70 mph feels just fine on mine.if i want to go fast i get out the big gun.
  2. just got back from a great ride on my new v-star 1300.(long way to walmart for oil).lol. just me the bike and the wind.what a great ride it was.got back did first oil and filter change.this is one fine bike. yamaha did well.trying to pick it apart. so far the only two things i have to complain about is lowspeed transmission noise, and wind buffeting due to not having lowers on the windshield.it is the smoothest bike i have ever rode and has zero vibration at any speed,(rare for a v-twin).got 44mpg on first tank and 55 mpg on the second tank.i am making polished stainless lowers and have cut 4" off the windshield so i can now look over it.it has plenty of room and is a good size bike, yet light weight and very agile.thanks to dragon rider for influencing my final decision to buy it.the chroming has begun.
  3. i rode a big red one time and kept running up my leg when i put my foot down.legs were pretty raw by the end of the day.lol
  4. beautiful bike ,can't wait to go riding with you all again.i'll be having a meet and eat in the spring.getting ready to take off on a ride in a little while.got to go solo .lindas watching poker.have a great ride on your new scoot.you two be careful.bill
  5. top speed on most of the liter bikes is around 180. the busa and zx 14 would both be capable of 200 mph but have a 186 mph limit built into the ecu.you can over ride the limiter with a speedo healer.i think the gixxer is the fastest liter bike but just by a hair.my r6 with stock gearing would run 90 in low gear.top speed 160.not bad for a little 35 cubic inch 4 cyl.a briggs and stratton vanguard is a bigger motor.this year the fastest speed at the texas mile was 234 mph by a turbo charged busa on nitros.450 rear wheel hp.the guys dad came back and turned 204 mph and had never been on the bike before.the thing that makes the texas mile so hard is that you have to have enough power to accelerate to 200 mph in the alloted distance before entering the timed mile area.than you have to stop before you run out of pavement.it's at an old airstrip.not to many people top 200mph there.just thought this stuff might interest some of you. ps.the bike that turned 234 has 15000 mi. on it and is driven daily on the street,to and from work,
  6. your never to old to air one out.i get carried away and air them out once in awhile and i'll be 65 next month.as soon as i find a safe place,i'm going to let her eat on my fast bike. :cool10:

  12. i'm planning on being there as long as the weather is decent.don't do freezing rain, rain, snow, or anything wet unless i get caught in it.come on folks there has to be more out there that are going.should be a great time.bill
  13. i got the whine.odds are pretty good.it's not the worst thing that can happen to you.would'nt keep me from buying one.you should hear my new v-star 1300.you want to hear transmission noise it is record breaking.it would'nt keep me from buying another one.i got more things to worry about than a little transmission noise.
  14. frogman, don't worry. sold my warrior to a guy with no feedback and went smooth as glass.figure it this way. you got the bike and title.they don't get it till you got the money.don't forget to charge them an extra 3% if they use paypal.i got stung on that once for $250.00.
  15. lewis ,that sounds very promising for me.probably freeze my butt off,but i can try out my electric jacket liner.
  16. tell wingman i missed him at vogel this year.he seem like a pretty good guy.bill ps. i figure when i wear the edges off the gears it will quite down.bill
  17. lewis, you steered me right.got my new v-star 1300.what a nice bike.just what i was looking for.so far the only complaints are.drivetrain noise, drivetrain noise, and did i say drive train noise.of course i'm hardened do to the legendary chirp so i can handle it.highly reccomend this scoot if you can't handle the weight anymore and are true to yammers like me.although a kawasaki accidently turned up in my workshop.felt sorry for it just sitting in a crate.lol let the chroming begin.

  20. i;m supposed to be there at noon.got the liquid silver and charcoal two tone.lost my butt on the trade.not planning on getting carried away with accessories.i do want to travel on it so i will need the comforts of home.hope the seats are comfy.i'm trying to get down to 2 bikes but i seem to be hung on the no. 5.told my wife not to leave the light on i will probably get lost on the way home from the dealer.going to be low 80's and sunny.will take the long way .this will hopefully be my last bike.how do you like yours? i here they are trouble free and handle like a light weight.let the chroming begin.lol
  21. i retired in 1994 at age fifty two.i am now a derelect and have no money.i,m about to move into a newly remodeled two story refridgerator box in downtown st. louis under a bridge.the problem is no shelter for my scooters.i need help.my tomato plants just pooped out and my dog needs food.the squirrels are getting far and few between.never thought retirement would be this neat.if i can just make through december i will be a little closer to social security.what a delema.i'm not begging for help but my puppy is hungry.the vet has put him on a strict diet of filet mignon and lobster.donations would be welcome.bill :rotf:
