  1. hey lewis, just checked my mileage today.got 49.996.seems to be hanging around 50 mpg all the time first tank was 44.i don't run it hard, and don't think the fi module made much diff. in mileage.to early to tell.i probably use 5th gear more than you ,our roads are probably flatter and straighter.i will probably ride it to memphis.bill
  2. cindy ,where you been hiding? your working to hard.can't handle all these folks by myself.tell dale i said hi.meet and eat coming up here in the spring ,and start planning for eureka springs.your partner in crime. snarly bill
  3. hey lonna if it weren't for you ,where would we get the best cheese cake around.i've got to include ozarks wife patricia in there to. she makes great cheesecake also.love ya both keep the cheesecake coming.brad t is a good guy to. one of these days im going to put a rain ride together just to show him i ain't afraid to get wet. :2133:bill
  4. no helmet ,a great big stupid.just my two cents.
  5. eck, is probably building an extenda helmet as we speak.:rotf::rotf:guess i better keep quiet he is liable to kick my butt in memphis.bill
  6. was just sitting here at my computer and got to thinking , what a great bunch of people i have met on here over the last few years. i always look forward to seeing and commununicating with every one on here , even when there is a little controversy. i still love you all and can't wait for the season to open next year so i can ride with you all again.just want to say thanks for being there to make my day brighter. :clap2:
  7. what the hell is a honda.:rotf::rotf:
  8. lewis ,i agree ecks one of my favorite people, even if he is a pain in the butt.lol looking forward to seeing him and everyone else.bill
  9. hey dave, we have a bunch of venture riders around here .i'm from st.charles we ride around here all the time.season ain't near over yet.going to memphis next weekend if you want to ride along.bill
  10. may have got rained out.i was going to meet wayne for breakfast but the radar was not good.it's nasty here in mo.had a good afternoon ride planned but i'm sure it was cancelled.
  11. come on halfwitt.real venture riders don't winterize their bikes.if the streets ain't slick.ride it a couple of mile every couple of weeks to keep the oil up in it.make sure you warm it up good if you do.keep the tank full and use a battery tender in between rides.if the bike will start i will ride it.just not as far.winterizing a bike is not near as good for a bike as riding it.any time a motor sits condensation deteriorates the metal surfaces.ive pulled motors apart that have sat a couple of months and the cyl's had corrosion marks where the rings sat.
  12. don't have pics yet ,but if you want to cut the windshield it's easy.i did it right on the bike.i measured up 19 inches from the top of the headlight opening, made a pattern out of thin cardboard ,and taped it to the windshield.i used a sabersaw with a new medium fine blade and cut it off then i belt sanded it with a scat cat mini belt sander, and finish sanded it by hand with 220 open coat paper.looks like a factory job.the medium yamaha accessory shield is 19" tall.just the right height for me.may ride it to memphis if i get my lowers on in time.
  13. the low speed handling is unreal.every time i do a parking lot manuever,my wife says you could never do that on the other one.can't seem to leave this bike alone.got to be on it all the time.bought it sept 29th and have almost 800 miles on it,and haven't been out of town yet.high speed cornering is fantastic,no frame flex or wallowing easy to drag floorboards if your not careful.yamaha really did their homework on this one.at 70 mph on the highway it rides like a caddy and has no vibration, wind buffeting from lack of windshield lowers is the only complaint there.i'm in the process of making some polished stainless steel ones.don't have to rev it at all. i think the test i read said it tachs 3400 rpm at 70.
  14. reamed out the v-star 1300 today,i think it will put the job on my rstd pretty good.surprised the heck out of me.darn thing runs good. had my wife on the back .she said she thought it was alot faster than my rstd.there is a couple of hundred lb.s difference in the two.
  15. thats great to here.it is a great cause.
  16. missed wingman at vogel this year be nice seeing him again.bill
  17. flying j sounds great.even i ought to be able to find that.bill
  18. probably alot of first gens sitting in the garage. :rotf::rotfl::rotf:
  19. it was a great summer.one of the best i've ever had.can't wait till next year.:clap2:
  20. wings are beautiful but not motorcycle looking enough for me.leg position would not work with my bad legs. can't afford one.concours or fjr would be my choice for a sport tourer.i settled for a v-star 1300 to replace my rstd, and so far it's doing a great job.i can do low speed maneuvers that i could never do on my royalstar.handles so good that i have to be careful not to overdue it in the curves, even two up. i really totally enjoy riding it.only major complaint is transmission ratios and noise.i'm getting used to that.
  21. lewis, i'm planning on riding to memphis.unless the weather turns bad.in fact i'm looking forward to it.if i get my lowers made in time i'm bringing the v-star.you can take a look at them then.there is a guy that makes some for it with plexiglass.they look nice.he gets $165.00 for them.
  22. there is a big speedo error on these bikes.when my speedo shows 80 my gps says 72.thats a big difference.and it gets worse the faster you go.
  23. hey brad you 'll never guess what finally swayed me. la pryor and i were at this pancake house in eureka springs and there was a guy and his wife on a 1300. talked like a newby.anyway he was pulling out on the highway ,two up on a hill making a 90 degree turn with both feet up in traffic.i thought if he lives through this it will be a miracle.did it like it was nothing.i would have been laying in the street on my rstd.hope you folks can make it to eureka springs next year.bill
  24. sure hate hearing news like this.our condolences and prayers are there for his family.linda and bill predock.
  25. if you need another one i think i have one off my rstd, guess they are the same.bill
