I am thinking Harley has one of the best marketing departments going. I don't understand being upset with a motel chain because they worked with Harley. Yamaha could the same thing.

Who will / will not allow their kids to have a motorcycle?
Jerry W replied to Sunrayman's topic in Watering Hole
I don't know how old your kids are, but mine are grown and way past the place in life where I will or will not allow them to do anything. I am not sure how you plan to enforce that, but good luck. -
Kickstand Shortening
Jerry W replied to rumboogy's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I think you can use one off the origional Royal Star. The legnth is somewhere around 2" shorter, just measure and make sure the tang won't hit your floorboard. If that doesn't work out for you, send me a pm. -
Sounds to me like a float was sticking a little, this the gas under the bike. If it did not leak the second time you cranked it up, it probably is ok. If the weather is good, maybe take it for a little run until it smooths out. My bike sat for a couple of weeks a while back and would not idle until I took it out for a little run and put fresh gas in it. Ethanol is not friendly to carburators. You might even try some bg 44k, I have heard some really good things about that stuff.

I think right now pot is illegal, don't see that it makes much sense to have laws that are not enforced unless the only ones we don't enforce are the ones that I don't like. Thinking there are as many opinions on drugs as there are people, in my opinion they are either legal or not. I don't always have agree with the law, but I do have to respect it or pay the price.

I had a '73 Impala and had a problem with the headlights that turned out to be the switch to turn the headlights on. If I remember correctly, you pulled the switch out to turn the headlights on and turned it from side to side to adjust the brightness of the dash lights or turn the dome light on. Anyway, the headlights were giving me some trouble and I noticed this switch was a little warm. I changed it out and all was good again.

Found this on the internent in about 10 seconds. The auto repossession process usually goes like this . . . You receive a late payment warning by mail; (but not always as there is no law that requires this. Only if the credit contract says so, is the lender required to notify you in writing) You receive a follow up call to the above warning; You pass some predetermined grace period (look in your credit disclosure statement for the appropriate number of days) You may receive one more warning (usually by mail) You discover your car missing from your home, work, or even at the mall. (Repo experts usually cruise by your home and work and even look for your daily habits to determine when and where would be the best place to repossess your car ) You receive a notice that your car has been repossessed and what your rights are including how to get it back. If you can figure out a way to pay, you'll have to pay the repossession fees, towing charges, impound charges, storage fees and various other fees incurred by the company that repossessed the car. This can easily run several hundred dollars. If you cannot pay the repo fees, you'll lose the car completely! It's sold at auction and the proceeds are applied to the balance of your auto loan and the fees mentioned above. If the balance is not paid off you'll be informed of the balance and that you are still responsible for paying it off. If there is money left over after the car loan balance and all repossession fees are paid, don't expect to get any of the profit; the company can legally keep it. Your credit report is updated to reflect the account as a "repossession" Keep in mind that repo experts cannot violate any laws during a repossession procedure. In other words they cannot enter a closed garage to repossess your vehicle. They can take a car sitting in your driveway.

I also went and looked at the new Kaw's and I agree with Eddie to a point. After looking closely I also thought "The 2010 Voyager blows". Ain't saying nothing, just saying.

I have the web site Pandora on my computer. It is free music, no commercials and you pick music according to artist, album, song or type of music. I turn it on and let it play when I am around the computer. It beats XM IMHO.

Oil and gas in exhaust
Jerry W replied to thoward's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Sounds to me like you have a float that is set wayyyy to high. I was going to say you had a float sticking, but since the carbs were just taken off and cleaned, I am thinking one is set too high. -
That looks kinda' familiar. I am thinking I have been there.

I thought Wild Hoggs was a hoot. Yeah, I have noticed some folks have an attitude and are a little serious about it all. Guess that kinda' goes with life.

If I had any clue what you just said, I might join in the conversation. I just ride and put gas in the tank when it gets low. I have a headache now.

I guess since I have kids, I look at this a little different than some. I don't know if you asked your Dad or if he just did what Dad's do and offered his help. Seems you didn't really like his position so you asked some other guys and will use their opinions to make your decision. Well, who you going to go to when you really need something? You going to go to "good old Dad" or other guys? I am not putting anyone's opinion down, just saying you might want to check your hold card.

Wally, I have some kin in Searcy and may be out that way on a road trip this spring, if it works out I will let you know and maybe we can get together.

If I didn't want comfort, I would not have bought a touring bike. There are plenty of hard tail, no windhshield etc. bikes out there, but I prefer the comfort of a touring bike. I guess the only person I really want to please in my choice of bikes is me. To each his own.

You do not need bolts on the new bolts, the spacer should be threaded to accept the new bolts which are used to attach the light bar to the spacer. The bolts that origionally held the light bar will be used to attach the spacer to the bike. Also, the rubber on the wind deflectors will no longer work. So, you can either rework them or they will eventually fail. OR, you can buy a set of wind deflectors from Ruffy which are much better and do not use the yamaha mounts and will not fail. I have the deflectors on my bike and they are well worth the money and don't cost much more than a new set of mounts for your plastic deflectors.

Passing Lamps...Why?
Jerry W replied to rumboogy's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I pretty much run with my "passing lamps" on all the time. I am a firm believer in lights on a motorcycle. I want to see and be seen.
