  1. I am not thinking you can lower the front on the RSTD like you can on the RSV. I have my RSV lowered both front and rear, but I believe the only way you can lower the front is by purchasing a kit vs. sliding the forks up. However, lowering the rear should be the same. You might try lowering the rear and going with the smaller tire on front as some of the members have done. I don't remember what size tire they used on front.
  2. Glad to see you were able to save the cassett player. Ponch makes an awesome kit that has an oil pressure, water temp. and volt meter that goes where the cassett player is.
  3. I have a cup holder on the bike and I stop every 100 miles or so, top off the gas tank, drink anything but alcohol, fill up my insulated mug and repeat. I start drinking before I get thirsty and also use one of those neck coolers. I keep a couple of extra neck coolers in a zip lock bag full of ice and water in the saddle bag and put on a fresh one every time I stop. I am 63 years old and have never had a problem with overheating.
  4. Chastise this! I am so jealous, that is an awesome bike. I think white is the best color going. I love my Midnight RSV, but would love to have the white Ultra. My thought is, those who want to tell you what to ride have the option to pay for it. Congrats on the new bike.
  5. There was a thread on the price of Plexus not long ago, I found the big cans for $10 at J. C. Whitney with free shipping.
  6. Man, I wish I could make this one. I already have things going on that weekend, I have tried having maintenance days here and I get more folks from Houston and I do local folks. Maybe I can make the next one.
  7. The "I" basket may or may not help the whine factor on your bike. Yamaha will replace your existing basket with the "I" basket under warranty. Either way, you have nothing to loose. I had an "I" basket put in my bike under warranty and it helped. I called Yamaha customer service as well as the Yamaha dealership and got the basket with no problem. All it will cost you is a couple of phone calls.
  8. The Boss Hoss trikes put out anywhere from around 350 hp to around 450 hp, depending on which engine etc. you order.
  9. Nope, I feel that the same laws apply to bikes as to cars. I have read many rants about "cagers" not respecting rules of the road etc. I don't feel that there are two sets of laws of the road. I was in Branson last summer on the bike and it took me 2 hours to get 4 miles and it was hot but, it took the cars on either side of me the same time. Owning a bike doesn't make me special.
  10. I don't know Dumplin', just whatever works best for you.
  11. :beersign:Just give me beer. I have learned a lot of things with beer most of them not good, but I had a lot of fun.
  12. You may be right, but it does no good to sit around and P*** & Moan then go right back to the same place and spend your money. My feeling is either don't gripe or do something about it. I can't put any pressure on a dealer, but Yamaha can. If I let Yamaha know it is costing them customers, they may give the dealer a call and infulence the way the treat customers. But that is just me.
  13. Rick, Another thing, Sharps will keep your bike AT LEAST a week on a tire change. I had an "I" basket put in my bike under warranty and they had my bike 3 weeks. I will never buy another Yamaha because of the customer service at Sharps.
  14. Gotta' go with Goose on this one. I have run Avons for over 10 years and have only had one problem with a sidewall and Avon replaced that one. I am staying with Avons.
  15. Rick, That is pretty much the way they treat everyone who doesn't ride a crotch rocket or a dirt bike. Also, it isn't just the parts counter, it is the dealership. Thanks to Tx for the tip on where to get tires mounted etc.
  16. I didn't have any trouble opening the pictures.
  17. OR, they have done all they have the skills and know how to do and are trying to get the noise to stop. Things like that happen ya' know.
  18. I was thinking the big air kit was for the origional Royal Stars. They don't have nearly the intake capacity that the Ventures do. The Ventures have enough intake capacity.
  19. Are you sure it is Plexus that is raising the price? I posted a link on here that showed J. C. Whitney selling it for $10.21 plus shipping. There is also a post stating a dealer was asking $32 for it, sounds to me like the dealers are the ones raising prices.
  20. I bought 2 cans, if I remember correctly the shipping was $6.99.
  21. J. C. Whitney has the 13 oz. Plexus for $10.21 plus shipping. http://www.jcwhitney.com/plastic-cleaner-protectant-and-polish/p2000740.jcwx?skuId=283139
  22. I am so fed up with Sharp's Honda in Amarillo that I am consdering selling the Venture and buying another bike, not a Yamaha. I took the bike to them to get the I basket installed on May, 28 and still don't have the bike back. They had the basket when I took the bike over, I know this because I asked them to let me see the part before I left the bike. When I call to see when I will get the bike back they just say "we will call you when it is ready".
  23. Now, that is just cold. However, Thom does seem to have some history with trailers.
  24. Yes, they are the same bike as far a mechanics are concerned.
