  1. Yer a good man. I am thinking they are gonna' need a place to hole up for a couple of days. Looks like you folks are in for some rain. Hope our friends on the coastal areas are ready for this.
  2. HIs profile shows it to be a 99 RSV. So, second gen.
  3. When you said you "need something stupid" I was thinking you had found a use for me.
  4. Not trying to hijack your thread or get into a spirited discussion about links. I lowered my bike front and rear and have been very pleased with the results. I did not feel any difference at road speed, but do like the feel of the bike at low speeds. Just sayin'. I lowered the front using the directions on this site, so it was free. However I am not thinking you can lower the rear without cost because the back brake has to be relocated.
  5. Yep, it has been lowered.
  6. I always look, but I still like my Venture also. My cassett player was replaced with a set of Ponch's gauges and I have an mp3 player that holds all the music I need. The bike is super comfortable, the fuel injected bikes get better mileage but when I am on the bike I don't really worry about mpg. Some bikes can outrun the Venture, some can't. I don't really care about that.
  7. Goose, is the anti-dive system part of the shocks, or how does that happen?
  8. Alamogordo is about 45 minutes from Ruidoso, but Alamogordo is in the desert. Ride in the mountains in the summer and desert in the winter, all within a 45 mile radius.
  9. At least they don't tailgate, now that would really set me off. Oh wait, that is another thread.
  10. Exactly where is this 45 degree uphill road? I gotta' see that.
  11. I try to plan my route where I can stay at KOA's where there is electricity and showers. I take an electric percolator coffee pot. Works for me.
  12. I stayed in a Holiday Inn once and no one pulled out in front of me while I was there.
  13. For my thoughts, just go back and read goose's post. I agree.
  14. Oh, I don't know. Maybe the families of the people who work there. But, what the heck, families only have women and children in them. Not at all like the members of this site who lost their jobs.
  15. We're in. Lowel stopped by the house last year around Thanksgiving while I was frying turkeys for a cup of coffee and a bite to eat and then was on his way.
  16. Does it really make any difference what kind of bike it is or what the repair is? We have stepped and done for folks more than once on this site. If someone close to Lowell who has Paypal will accept donations, we need to kick in for Lowell. If nothing else, the donations can be taken to him in a sack. :2cents:
  17. I am 63 and ride a 2006 Midnite RSV. I started riding a cushman eagle when I was 9 and have been riding on and off ever since.
  18. I know that's right. Let me know when you're gonna' be off in case you want to make it and I will match your schedule. I am off every weekend.
  19. Looking at it, might try to put one together in September. It turned out pretty good last year. Ponch and Gunboat rode up from the Houston area.
  20. I have been wondering the same thing. There was a post on here a while back about a biker hitting another biker and I saw no flaming, no morons, just comments that we need to be careful. I gotta' wonder how many on here don't even own a car.
  21. Is that an air cooled, belt drive bike? Man, Harley has had for a really long time. Sorry, I just couldn't resist.
  22. I don't understand why people take it so personal when someone buys a Harley. We have several members who have moved to a Goldwing and they don't have to defend their choice. It is kinda' funny, all the posts you read about the 'tude of Harley riders, well read the posts on this web site concerning Harleys. Ride what you like and let others do the same. I like bikes, all of them. I like some bikes better than others but don't care what the other guy rides. I have noticed that everyone who owns a Harley doesn't have an attitude and everyone who has an attitude doesn't have a Harley.
  23. I have gotten 40 mpg, I have also gotten 30 mpg. I have always enjoyed the ride.
  24. The Yamaha starts off with 1" more ground clearance than the Harley Ultra. For me, giving up 1" doesn't really create a hazzard for me. Guess each one needs to look at their own bike and do what is right for them. Yamaha Royal Star Dimensions Ground Clearance (in) : 6.1 2010 Harley-Davidson Ultra Classic Electra Glide FLHTCU Dimensions Ground Clearance 5.10 in.
  25. You might send Rick a note asking about getting your seat narrowed and shaved down. I didn't mention that I have also had Rick Butler rework my seat after I had lowered the bike. I am very satisfied with both modifications. I know several who have lowered their bikes and would not go back to stock height.
