My problem is all the wires on the Harley light kit are black, not red and blue as in the directions. I think I can figure out which element is brake and which is running, then determine which wire sends current to which filiment and work from there. Thanks for all your help.
-
Yep, they are dual filiment bulbs.
-
Each socket has two wires running from it, so I am thinking they are for both brakes and running. I will check the bulbs also.

I bought a set of Harley license lights to put on my 2006 RSV. The wiring diagram that obber sent me shows the wires on the Harley part being red or blue. The light I purchased has only one color wire on it and I am a little confused on how to wire it up to my RSV. Any of you have any suggestions? Thanks.

If you are happy, then you are riding the right bike. I don't know how loud some of the bikes are. I have barron pipes on mine and don't hear much whine. I can't really say how loud others are, mine may be one of the quiter ones. Either way, I love this bike.

I have read the threads on synthetic oils and will be switching to full synthetic on my next oil change. I feel that the yamaha filters are overpriced, but am not sure which filter to use. I know this had been discussed but am unable to come up with the thread. So......which filter do you feel is best. Thanks in advance.

I have the stock rubber from my floorboards, shifter and brake pedal that came off my 06 RSV. I will be gald to send those, if you want them. Let me know.

I plan to order a lift soon. Sounds like a way to help a fellow rider out and get a top quality product at the same time.

Wul, it's ok but I am thinking it needs a little chrome. Looks kinda plain to me.

would you buy a RSV again?
Jerry W replied to stvmaier's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I had a '96 Royal Star and bought a 2006 RSV in May of this year. I would buy another Venture in a minute. My plan was to move up to a touring bike when I retired and I had 10 years to study the bikes and make up my mind on which bike to buy. I have not regreted the decision to buy the Midnight Venture. The only problem I have had so far is that the rear tire is wearing out about twice a fast as the front tire, but I am thinking I may know what is causing that. Perhaps I should back off the throttle. -
The carbtune I bought came in, so if any of you guys in the Texas Panhandle want to get together and sync your carbs, let me know and we can schedule a day.

I am thinking it is a great idea. I bought a Royal Star in 1996 and bought a RSV in May of this year. There are many positive things, but also a few that I would like to see addressed. Obviously, I like the bikes.

Towed a trailer for the first time!
Jerry W replied to Monsta's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I was riding back to Borger, Texas from Oklahoma City on Monday and met a guy pullling a 5' x 8' utility trailer behind a motorcycle. I don't know what kind of bike it was, I was looking at the trailer. -
I will post a picture of the bike when I get the backing plates installed. Thanks
-
The picture that Seattle has is the same one that Power Parts Plus has, it must be a stock picture. But, either way, they are considerably higher than you are and still have to add shipping.
-
Yeah, what Christo said. I had them on the 96 Royal Star I had before I bought the RSV and paid quite a bit more than this for them and they look awesome. A great touch. If you want more chrome, you can't go wrong with these and you will not beat the price.

Mark, you have email.

Thanks for all the information, you guys are awesome.

Ok, you guys are so cranial it just makes my head hurt to try and understand what all you have said. I have run Avons for several years. I put them on my 1996 Royal Star and loved then and plan to go to Avon's when I need tires on the 2006 RSV I bought in April. I just want to ride and have fun, I retired in April and bought the RSV in May. I guess what I am asking is what tire sizes you are thinking I should go with. I always used the same size as what came on the '96 Royal Star and loved them. The 2006 RSV is a different bike and does not sit as low as the '96, I also have short legs. Without having to understand exactly why, could I get you to let me know what is the best Avon Venom tire size for my 2006 RSV. I ride in town, out of town, highways, anyplace I can find pavement. I plan to do quite a bit of traveling since I retired, and will be riding double most of the time. I realize this got a little long, you guys amaze me on your discussions and your understand of all the dynamics of bikes. I am just happy go get to ride.

Heal toe shifter came off
Jerry W replied to 2Whlsrollin's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Eck, You can remove one of the fake screws from the side cover and use it as a replacement screw for the shifter. The ones on the side cover are just for looks, but are the same size as the one on the shifter. It takes a "5" metric allen. Locktite is also your friend. -
HELP - Shift Peg Covers
Jerry W replied to SteveP's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I have those shifter peg covers on my bike, you can remove the stock rubber like Bob and Eck said. That is how I got mine off. The put on a few wraps of electrical tape and I used a little silicone adhesive to hold them in place. There is a small allen head on the new cover that you need to position out of the way and snug down also. Hope this helps
