You might try lowering the front end first, that improves handling and is free. Freebird has a good link on this site on how to do that. I don't know how lowering the front and back both would change handling, it does't seem like it would hurt since it would lowere the whole bike. However, I am thinking you would need to shorten the kick stand.

There is a link on here showing how to lower the front end approx. 1" and that modilfication is free, if you aren't satisfied with the results you can raise it back to stock. I lowered the front end of mine last week and love it.

Nitrogen filled tires
Jerry W replied to geresti's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I have wondered what percentage of the air are they able to replace with nitrogen? I am not thinking there is any way to completely evacuate a tire. Maybe I just don't really get it, but I am not seeing enough benefit to justify the cost and inconvenience. -
What is a "Butt Butler" Mod?

I don't know about the chrome covers, but you do not need to remove the lowers to change filters. It is easier if you take out some of the bolts holding the lowers so you can move them and gain easier access to some of the bolts on the filters. Sorry I can't be of any help on the chrome covers, however if you would like to send them to me, I will be glad to see what it takes to make them fit my bike.

How remove emblems from tank?
Jerry W replied to dharnie's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Wal-Mart now handles the double sided tape that is used to install car and motorcycle emblems. Also. Wal-Mart handles it in small rolls that you might not find at the Auto parts store. The tape comes in red and blue, get the red, it is really strong. -

I uses a Condor wheel chock, it holds the front time sationary. The bike will also stand upright when you step off without use of the side stand. You can then use soft ties, one on each fender brace where the front fender attaches to the forks and snug it down with tie downs. A couple more soft ties with tie downs on the bars just for insurance. Then a couple of ties on the back and you are good to go. The ties on the bars are actually just insurance, no need to compress the forks, just tight enough to keep them from coming loose. The ones on the back keep the back end from walking around on the trailer. Hope this helps. I can load it up on the trailer and take some pics if it will help.

How much alcohol do you think was involved the first time someone decided to put on an oversized T-shirt and jump off a cliff?

Are you reminding the okies of the meet and eat early in case they are riding the pigs from an earlier post. I am thinking that would extend the travel time quite a bit.

I didn't get the bike out today, but rode about 200 miles yesterday. Life is good.

A couple of years ago, a friend and I left Borger to Shreveport and on to Jackson, Miss. where we turned South on the last 100 miles of the Natchez trace. From Natchez we went to Gulfport, Miss. before working our way back. Great ride, great folks.

I carry, whether in a car or on the bike. I have a right to carry a gun and an obligation to protect my family. Hopefully, I will never be forced to use it. In all my years, I have shown it one time and I feel if I had not, the best thing that would have happened would have been I would have lost my car.

One real, tuff biker and nutty as squirrel poop. Just in case he reads this, I meant that in the kindest way possible.

saddle bags same RSV & RS Custome Cruiser?
Jerry W replied to dharnie's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I agree with Rick, the Tour Deluxe and Venture use the same bags. When I bought my Midnight RSV, the hinge covers said "Tour Deluxe". I called Yamaha and they sent me a set of billet covers free of charge. Only difference in bags is the hinge covers. -

Need help Lowering the Front end
Jerry W replied to wolfman1's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I am not much of a mechanic myself, but Obber and Kinkywinks lowered the front end on Kinkywinks bike. I don't know if they took pictures, but I am thinking they can help you out when they are on line. I am planning on lowering my front end also, if I find any pics I will let you know.- 22 replies

Hey Kit, Don't worry about learning how to use the Zumo or upgrades, you have grandkids don't you? I am planning on buying a Zumo, my 9 year old granddaughter told me not to worry, she would show me how to use it. I am thinking you can get the same kind of help. Heck. Wal-Mart calculators still amaze me.
-
Kit, I have heard the phrase "real bike" before, but no one would ever explain exactly what wasn't real about a Venture. Maybe you could help me out on that one.

Go with the Venom's they have a great feel and grip the road. Air them up and enjoy the ride.

The Avon tires will be the same as the stock tires that are on your RSV, unless you choose to go with the smaller front tire like some have. You can look on your stock tires or in your manual for the size.
