  1. I don't know of anyone who has removed the front tire when lowering the front of their bike. I lowered mine and see no advantage of removing the tire. I used a motorcycle jack to raise the bike and get the weight off the front tire.
  2. Frame with running/brake lights $75.95 http://www.customdynamics.com/Images/2028s.jpg Plenty of light uncluttered look- cost $135.90 Not looking like a Harley PRICELESS!!! So........this just apply to lights and not pipes???? __________________ Safe Riding, Joe
  3. There was another post on cruz settings, you might look it over there were some ideas that might be worth looking at. I can't add anything since I have not had any problems and I also ride a 2006 RSV.
  4. I was running a true 80, I have a Zumo 550 and set my cruise by what the Zumo said my speed was. I am thinking that was a pretty true number.
  5. I just returned from a 7 day trip from here through New Mexico to Holbrook, Az. then down to Mesa, back East to Las Cruces, El Paso and Van Horn before turning back up through Odessa, Lubbock, Amarillo and back home. I used the liners for the bags and trunk and well as a roll bag on the luggage rack on top of the trunk. We stay in KOA's along the way because they have a place to wash clothes. One saddle bag did not have any clothes in it, only tools etc. in the event anyone needed them.
  6. Mine doesn't deactivate at 80. I rode from El Paso to Odessa and the posted speed limit is 80 until about 20 miles out of Odessa and I had the cruise engaged most of the way at 80 and it did not deactivate. Must kick out at 85.
  7. You have our prayers.
  8. Haven't kept track for the year, put 2,000 miles on it last week. A friend and I rode from here through New Mexico to Holbrook, Az. the turned South the Phoenix and over the Las Cruces, NM then El Paso, Van Horn and up to Odessa and back home. Going to change oil and clean the bike tomorrow and plan next trip.
  9. Gary, I lowered the front end of my RSV by sliding the forks up through the tripple tree, makes a lot of difference in low speed handling. It is not hard monification and it is free. There is a great write up, with pictures in the technical section. You kinda' need a motorcycle jack to get the weight off the front tire, but that should not be hard to come up with.
  10. I bought my 2006 RSV in April of last year and it had a bunch of rust in the tank from sitting with a partial tank of gas. I told them I wanted the tank replaced before I took the bike. Yamaha replaced the tank and I have not had any trouble, I have run quite a bit of sea foam to make sure any crud was cut out of the carburators.
  11. I lowered the front of my RSV and the air valves ended up very close to the bars, however I later added the barron's extensions to give me more pullback on the bars and now the air is not even close to the bars.
  12. I am running aftermarket pipes but still have stock air filters, is there a noticeable gain in performance or mileage with the k&n's?
  13. Yes, the would fit. I have them on my 2006 RSV and my son - in - law has the same ones on his 1996 Royal Star. The Yamaha floorboards are pretty well standard. You do have to take the shifter off to get the cover on that side, but it is just one bolt. In my opinion, the are better than the Yamaha ones and I have had both.
  14. I have the Harley kit on mine, it adds a lot more light to the back of the back and looks good.
  15. Hey, Eck have you looked at the Harley license plate light kit? They fit our bikes like they were made for them, they are brake/running lights and if you take your time you can pick up a set for under $100.
  16. Hokay, this weekend isn't so good the metric show at Sharps and the weather isn't so good. Next weekend I have my grandson is having a birthday party, some things just have a high priority. Then, the next weekend (April 26) a friend and I are leaving on a roadtrip for approximately 8 days, depending on weather. If you guys are up for an oil change/maintenance day, let me know and I will put it together.
  17. I would stop and offer help, their choice to accept or decline. I have offered and received both responses, but either way I felt I did the right thing.
  18. Ok, that is kinda' what I said. I stated that I felt sites should support new ideas, I did not say anyone should not have their opinion. If you read what I said and get is straight you will see that I was not saying anyone should not voice an opinion, but we should support new ideas. Last post. Aidos
  19. I have a set of Barons risers that I just installed and am not sure I am going to keep them. Let me know if you are interested in a set.
  20. Yep, like John said they get quiter when wraped. I used 4 stroke dirt bike wrap, you can adjust the sound by wrapping all or part of the baffel.
  21. Forrest, I have ridden with you and know for a fact that you have a very agressive riding style, please let us know how you like the car tire. If it works for you, I know it will work for me. Thanks for your posts, some may or may not agree, but in my thinking when this or any other link does not support new ideas it is time to shut them down, or at least time for me to quit being a part of them.
  22. Got mine, thanks!
  23. You might get with Rick Butler, he has worked the seats over on several Ventures and I have read some real good things about his work. I haven't had my seats reworked yet, but am considering it. Rick has an add in the classified adds, just charges $50 plus shipping to do both seats.
  24. I don't know what you are willing to spend, but there was a post earlier today by gunboat offering a 2006 Venture for $12,500 or best offer. There was a phone number to contact and they would email pics if interested. I don't know anything about the bike, just saw the post and thought I would pass it on. The '06 would have transferrable warranty.
  25. Yep, half way up the window is correct. That is with the bike standing straight up, not on the stand. I am thinking the manual actually calls for 3.9 US quarts with filter change. There has been a lot of discussion on the amount to put in. It does take a little bit for the oil to run down and show in the window.
