I have lowered the front of my Venture and have purchased the kit to lower the rear, just haven't gotten around to installing it yet. I don't see any problem with ground clearance, I had a 96 Royal Star before I bought the Venture and had no problem with the clearance in it and it sits much lower than the Venture.

I went to Sturgis 2 times on a 1996 Royal Star and had a great time both times, never any problems. Actually, I have encountered more "attitudes" here in the Texas Panhandle than I did in Sturgis. You will see every kind of bike ever made while at Sturgis. My experience was that if you wanted to be around the hard core folks and possibly some less than stellar behavior, you pretty much had to go to it.

I don't care who you are, that there is funny. May cause a few flashbacks, but still funny.

I am not advocating banishment of any member or thread. My point was that Freebird and the other guys who put this site together and take the time to maintain and moderate what goes on here do an awesome job and I hate to see them have to give even more of their time reading every post to ensure that things don't get out of hand. If they start having to spend more time monitoring the posts, they are going to start whining for a pay raise.
-
Maybe I am off base, but seems to me that either the truth ain't in Freebird or the moderators are spending more time than they should on keeping this site what it was meant to be. Not trying to start anything, just my Just for the record, I don't think it an untruth on Freebird's part. "Welcome to VentureRider.org. We are glad you are here. This site was first founded on July 21st, 2004. What started as a small group of about 100 members has quickly grown to the largest and friendliest Venture and Royal Star site on the Internet. "

Ok wpredock, I will talk to Antelope Creek leathers about a booth at the rally and since Priscilla will probably drive to the rally because her mother lives in southeastern Missouri we can also haul beer for donation (cost) to the rally. I will be glad to fill the back of my tahoe with beer for the rally. I do not want to make any money, and will accept donations for the cost of the beer only. I will get with you on quantity of beer that may be needed and can make additonal beer runs since we will have the Tahoe available during the rally. Looking forward to this rally more than you can imagine, have had some things going on the past few months and Priscilla and I both can't wait.

Or, just put a piece of duct tape on the left side of the screen.

Priscilla and I have reservations at the Hub & voted in the poll, just didn't post a note with it. I was kinda' waiting for you to offer free beer.

SQUEAKY brakes resolved
Jerry W replied to Seaking's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
The bolts on the side covers are the same as the one holding the shifter on, I am thinking it takes a 6mm allen. Also, it is not a bid idea to put a drop of lock tite on that bolt. -
Disc lock when traveling and locked in garage when I am not out of town. Other than that, insurance.

My Dad bought my brother and I a Cushman Eagle in 1958, it was the 5 hp, same as the one in the picture. They also made a Super Eagle which was an 8 hp.

Older model Royal Star carb sync question
Jerry W replied to Sterling Turner's topic in Watering Hole
Can anyone tell me the difference in procedure in syncing the carbs on a 1st gen? I have a carbtune and ride a 2nd gen, but I am sure there are folks in my neck of the woods who might want the carbs on a 1st gen synced and I have never messed with a 1st gen. -
I read a thread a while back that stated they had lowered the front and back of their RSV and shortened the sidestand by 3/4". I have lowered the front of mine (there are detailed instructions on this site) and ordered the back lowering kit today. I plan to shorten the stand when I install the rear lowering kit. I agree with pegscrapper on the handling problem, if you lower the front it will get the handling back where it was. Hope this helps

Passing through Santa Fe, NM (Need Brake Job)
Jerry W replied to petekadish's topic in Watering Hole
Several years ago a friend of mind bought a new Royal Star in Santa Fe and the dealer there always treated him very good. Santa Fe Motor Sports 2594 Camino Entrada Santa Fe, NM 87507 (505) 438-1888 Good luck, hope this helps. -
I agree with Colorado Springs. Big enough to accomodate most anything we want to do and great places to ride.

I do not run a CT at this time, but I have checked with my insurance company and was told that my insurance would not be affected by running a CT on the bike. My insurance is with Dairyland.

They are called leveling links, I am thinking Diamond R makes them. Here is the website http://www.diamondraccessories.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PLST&Store_Code=DRA

Handle bar wobble with no hands...
Jerry W replied to bugfish69's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
You might make sure the tire has the proper air pressure then check for possible cupping. -
I read one post (can't remember who it was) stating their bike had been colortuned and their mileage jumped from low 30's to low 40's, same bike, same rider. I am not doubting what anyone says their mileage is, I just want to know what changes they have made.

New 2006 Venture, gots questions...
Jerry W replied to Seaking's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I don't know what the shipping would be on the seat, but you might contact Rick Butler on doing some modificaitons on your seat. Rick has an ad in the classified section. I have heard nothing but good concerning his work. I plan on sending my seat to Rick later this year. He is on vacation until after July 4th. -
He didn't have a car tire mounted on the bike did he?
