Well, I don't know. You see how fast Eck was kicked off the site when he went for a wing. Maybe we can make an exception in your case and let you stay. Go ahead and admit it, you just want to outrun the 1st Gens. Hope you love the new bike.

Hmmm You would think I would have noticed that. There were three of us who bought Royal Stars in '96 & '97, mine was the only standard Royal Star. One of the others was a Tour Delux and one was a Tour Classic. Well, we only rode those bikes for about 10 years I probably didn't have time to notice. Thanks for the info.

Lowering kit question
Jerry W replied to The Black Pearl's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Black Pearl, The "bones" are in the mail. -
Man, that is a question that usually opens a real can of worms. There are a lot of good oils out there and a lot of people who are much better informed than I am. I presently run Amsoil, but I don't know if it is worth the cost. A lot of guys run Mobile1, Rotella, etc. Just make sure it is not "energy conserving" because that is not compatable with a wet clutch like ours has. Sorry I could not be of more help.

Lowering kit question
Jerry W replied to The Black Pearl's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I will get the "bones" in the mail tomorrow (Friday). The donation deal to keep the website working sounds like a winner to me. Also, I found my stock caliper mounts, so if anyone needs the stock brake caliper mount let me know. I would rather someone use them than having it sitting on a shelf. -
The bags that won't fit on the 4 into 4 exhaust came on the Tour Delux. They are much larger than the ones on the standard Royal Star. They made the Royal Stars from 1996 - 2001 and the Tour Delux was the only one with 4 into 2 exhaust and larger bags.

I'm not going to blame loosing my numbers on the computer, I just have no idea what they are. My plan was to look around when the magic number is drawn and if no one holds up their hand, I will hop around like I have that number. Any chance of that working for me or do I actually have to know my numbers?

I have a set of stock dog bones gathering dust if you need them. -
Lowering kit question
Jerry W replied to The Black Pearl's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Do you have the stock dog bones? If not, I have a set from when I lowered my bike and I have a friend who is wanting to lower his bike, of course he would need the caliper relocation kit also. You do not have to buy any parts to return the bike to stock. On the front end, there are two ways to lower that. The way most of us do it is to slide the forks up through the tripple tree. Look at yours and see if the forks are even with the top of the tripple tree or if they extend above. You can also lower the front by replacing springs, etc inside the forks and it still looks stock. I don't know how you can tell if this has been done. Anyway, if you need my stock dog bones let me know. Maybe we can work something out on your lowering kit. -
Yeah, wish things had worked out better last time. Anytime you are that close to me and have trouble, let me know. If I had known you all didn't have proper clothing and needed tools, we would have brought them to you. We will be in Harrison in August. Be good to meet up with you and the others.

Wish I could make it, but we already have reservations in Fredericksburg that weekend. They are having the 160th birthday for Luckenbach and a cajun cook off in Fredericksburg. But, we have our reservations for August.

Passenger floorboard bracket needed
Jerry W replied to Aussie Annie's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Annie, I got a note from Forrest (flb) asking about fitment on the passenger floorboard mounts and these will fit the RSV as well as the origional Royal Star. Also, I sent the folks who have the parts listed on ebay and asked if they will ship to Australia. Hopefully, they will answer soon. I will let you know what they say about shipping.- 20 replies

1996 RSTC vibration question
Jerry W replied to dukhunter322's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Does the bike vibrate in 1st gear when you twist the throttle? These bikes kinda' need to be accelerated in higher rpm's. You might try running the rpm's up higher before you shift and see if that makes any difference, also you might sync the carbs. Hope this helps.- 5 replies

After Market Exhaust
Jerry W replied to OutlawRider's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I don't know of anyone who has had to rejet after changing to aftermarket slipon exhaust. Also, you are correct to mount them yourself, it is a 30 minute job that will cost you $75 - $100 to have done. To mount a set of slipon's you remove the saddle bags, loosen one clamp and remove one bolt on each exhaust, then put it all back together. This is a great place to find answers, there are some folks on here who are very good with these bikes. -
Need Help!
Jerry W replied to TourClassic's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I would look at the ingition switch, that is the only Royal Star that has the ignition switch right down by the radiator and engine. On the '96 - 01' standard Royal Star the igntion switch is on the right side just under the back of the seat away from the heat. When I had my '96 Royal Star a riding buddy had the Tour Deluxe he had to replace his ingition switch and it acted a lot like you describe yours. -
The weather could have been a little better, but not much we can do about that. Hope Gunboat and Joe made it back to Houston ok, they made it to Memphis, Texas Friday and called me Saturday morning to see how it was going. I recommended they head back home because the weather was supposed to get wetter and it looked to me like it was going to be a little dicey all the way to Houston. The turnout was light, but we had a good time. Here are some pictures as required.

Glad you are going to make it. Ride safe, I will have the coffee on in the morning.
