Lots of controversy on this modification, it isn't for everone but lots of things aren't. I rode my bike a few thousand miles stock and then lowered the front end using the directions on this site. After riding with the front lowered for approx. 5,000 miles I lowered the rear using the Barons lowering kit and am very pleased with the results. You will need to shorten the kickstand about 2" to get enough lean. Hope this helps. Any other questions, just ask.

"If I put my girlfriend on it I not sure it can maintian hiway speed espcially up hill in high altitude." Now, I don't want to start anything here, but just how big is your girlfriend? -
Yeah, plans have not changed. We will get to Harrison Monday morning for the rally, then on to Branson for a couple of days.

Actually, mine were made in Korea. You can find that information on the little tag on the inside just under the collar. Hope this helps.

Just checked the 10 day weather forecast and is shows a 60% chance of rain for August 3 & 4 in Harrison. Looks like things may be a little damp.

I would be interested, depending on price.

If you don't want to do it like our beloved government would, just put a good coat of latex paint on in and while it is still wet, throw a bunch of sand on the wet paint. Protects the wood and gives you a non skid surface.

Got any pictures of the exact location of the drains on the carbs, I know I will need it one of these days. With that being a common problem, I would like it see the write up with pics in the tech section.

Need carb and clutch help
Jerry W replied to Kross Kountry's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
The clutch on these bikes does not slip when the bike is hot, and as far as the Barnett clutch, flb has a Barnett clutch in his bike and I have seen him pick the front tire up off the ground. -
Bet Eck wishes he hadn't bought that Goldwing now.

EEEEEEEEEEEasy there Forest. Just when someone thought I know what I was talking about. Thom, the easiest way to change the kickstand is to drop the left floorboard. There are two allen head bolts holding it on and the shifting linkage is attached to the floorboard. When you drop the floorboard, the linkage goes with it and the kickstand bolt is easily accessable. I was thinking I told Mike that, maybe not.

Mike, Scroll down and you will find the pics on how to mount the brake caliper relocation kit.

Actually I cut mine off 2", if you can find one off an origional Royal Star it would work great. If you cut one off, you will need to cut it off below the loop. The reason for this is that if you cut it off above the loop, it will hit the floorboard when you put the kickstand up. I am not thinking you have 2" clearance between the loop and the floorboard, also there is a lot less torque on the weld if it is cut lower on the kickstand. I had an extra kick stand that I was cutting down and swapping if someone needed one shortened, but that hasn't worked out so good. I am not having much luck in getting the stock stand sent back to me.

2009 RSV Top Heavy Question
Jerry W replied to DonWood's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I also lowered my bike, front and rear. I lowered the front using the directions on this site and lowered the rear using Barons lowering kit. I have scraped the mufflers a couple of times, but nothing bad. I have been pleased with the results and have no plans to raise the bike back up. I just like the feel of a lower bike. If you are a real agressive rider, this may not be the modification for you, but I have no complaints. -
Not a problem for me, I am glad he found full time work.

Not really strange, the origional Royal Stars were quite a bit lower than they are now. The kick stand on the '96 - '01 Royal Star is a little over 2" shorter than the ones on the newer bikes. I doubt if his bike has been lowered.

The first thing to scrape is the floorboard on either side. They are hinged and have a hardened piece at the back of the floorboard for this reason. You should feel it on the floorboard, if it is not that I would do some checking. Those are great bikes, I had a '96 until 2 years ago.
