Wife and I got ours 2 years ago. Just happen to be talking with the clerk at the post office and she said prices were going up. Went and got daughter's sent off quick. Bronson

Kawasaki experienced dropping sales a few years ago (maybe to the Wing) and discontinued their Voyager line. Kaw is re-introducing the Voyager with a 1400cc that reportedly will blow away the Wings. Just speculating, but maybe Yamaha (Star) has decided they need to do something to "keep up with the Jones'." Guess we will find out this Fall.

I was visiting family in MI and went over to Sarnia to go to casino. Border agent asked me, after running my plates, if I had my firearm. Yep, shows up in their puters is you are a permit holder ANYWHERE in the US. And originally being from OK (very much like TX when it comes to guns) better question might be, how many you got at once? LOL

I have to agree with the "Don't do it," group. I have a 1996 Dodge truck that I never touched. For some stupid reason, I decided to change the tranny filter at about 120,000 mile. By 150,000 the convertor was slipping and had to get a new tranny. The exception to that would be, if the tranny is slow to engage when cold, then the fliter may be dirty and not allowing the thicker, cold fluid to pass through easily. I had that happen to me on an Olds Cutlass many years ago. Dropped the pan and the filter was filthy. The problem cleared up. I don't know if it started slipping or not because I sold the car a few months later. Ain't broke, don't fix it!

Thanks for the link Freebird. That is actually the reverse of what I am looking for.

It would be male stereo jack, like on the earbud headphones, to 5pin so that the music plays in the JM speakers. MP3player
-
That would be sweet. When 2 up on my bike, it's not a problem. I guess it is not much more than getting the RCA jack wired to the correct 2 wires of the 5-pin.
-
Just put some JM's in mine and wife helmets. My wife's bike does not have a radio. Anyone know of a way (adapter cord) to connect the 5-pin to an MP3 player?
-
WOW. You are one lucky man. Hope you are able to get back on that bike soon.

MotorCycleRadio, Yes it was great weather to ride yesterday. Saw several other bikes, but no other RSV, so I can't say I waved at you.

For the size of the bike, I cannot believe that Yamaha put no more lights in the back than what is on the 650. Hey Yamaha! How about integrated lights across the trunk?

I got a vent, hoping to install it in my factory windshield. The vent has slightly less of a curvature than the windshield. Has anyone done this? Does it work? Clearview informed me that they are aware of people that have done it and that the windshield will flex some as the vent is tightened. Makes me wonder if it is worth the risk.

Great post. Good laugh. :rotf:

I am looking for a set of speakers that will mount on the handlebars of a VStar that can be used with an MP3 player. I have been looking thru Ebay. Anyone know of any good ones or made their own?

Ugh...rear end noise. Rear splines.
Jethroish replied to Jethroish's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Got the bike back yesterday. they told me the driveshaft was out of alignment. How? They did the first regrease of the splines at all of 300 miles. I asked if something came loose, but they said no. Guess time and riding will tell. -

2500 miles later, the noise has returned. A little creaking along with a slight "clunking" sound when I roll the bike, running or not. Can anyone fill me in on the service bulliten? I was going to ride it tonight(180 miles round trip) but now I hesitate. All the dealers around here are closed on Mondays, so I can't get anything done until tomorrow. Is it likely to do any harm to put another 180 miles on it or should I drive the cage? -
Exhaust discoloration: Roadhouse slip-ons VStar 650
Jethroish replied to Jethroish's topic in General Tech Talk
I am going to try getting some cleaner. It has to be a carb thing: too rich or lean. It is only doing it on one pipe. -
I have Roadhouse 65's slip-ons on my V-Star. About 4 inches behind the clamp where the pipe slides onto the stoch head pipe, there is a 2 inch wide brown/yellow blotch. the head pipe is not blued. Is this normal? Any way to clean it? Have not talked to Roadhouse yet. Was going to call them, but don't have the number and their web site is down right now.
