Another storm has come and gone, and with it was 10 hours without power. The power here is so unreliable. In 1 1/2 years, we have lost power more here than the 12 years in Okla. After saying it every storm, finally ordered a generator today. Nothing big, but enough to run a few space heaters, tv, and lights. More power...arrr, arrr, arrr.

Kuryakyn ISO grips and end weights
Jethroish replied to Jethroish's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
That is exactly what I did. I got to ride a few miles the other day and all seemed fine. I do like the larger diameter grips. Prior to this, I had a set of grip puppies on the grips. -
I am glad I live a little farther down state. Friday got to 58 here. I was able to get my wife's VStar out for about a 30 minute ride and then my RSV. Found that the o-ring seal on the VStar final is leaking and spraying gear oil on the wheel. Easy fix though. Can't wait til Spring.

I saw an episode of MythBusters last week. They put "cola" and aluminum foil up against some readily available chrome cleaner. Their conclusion was the cola and foil cleaned better and removed rust stains better than the chrome cleaner from the auto parts store. Only problem was the sticky soda residue. I normally use NeverDull. What do you use?

there are less than a handful of oil blending factories. As an example, if you use the WallyWorld SuperTech brand, it is blended and bottled by QuakerState. No difference except cheaper and different bottle. Filters are no different. There are those made by Dana Corp, Allied Signal and another. Wix and Napa Gold filters are the same with different skins. Infact, Wix and Napa part numbers are nearly identical. I admit that I use Mobil 1 M/C in my RSV, but in my pickups, I use what ever is on sale at the time and change every 3000 miles on the gas truck and 6000 miles on the diesel. I will, however, use Wix, Napa, or Baldwin filters. Personally, I stay away form those made by Allied Signal. Just my own choice. Just my 2 bits.

Heck, I'll mow the neighbor's yard to get rid of this cold arse weather.

There are so many "classics." National Lampoon Vacation and Christmas Vacation are on the top of my list. and lest we forget the quest for the Holy Grail

Maybe it is not the bike, nor the seats, nor the tires. Maybe you need to find smoother roads to ride on. All good suggestion that have been mentioned here. Hope you get it fixed.

The 404s are ok and among the least expensive. I got 13,500 on my original 404s. I now have Elite 3s on the bike and have put 7000 miles on them and love them. They are great on wet roads. I was very surprised. And the Elites are a little less $$ than the Avons.

Don't know a whole lot about motorhomes, but if they are anything like fifth wheels and travel trailers, there are just a few manufacturers that build many different lines. Big difference being in the quality of components (matresses are a prime example). After we bought our fifth wheel, we had a sales person tell us that ours was "cheaper" than this other (even though they looked identical) because ourw did not have marine grade flooing. "Yep. And it's not a boat either." You definitely want a rounded roof. I did not know anyone still made them flat. You can also save big $$ by not buying one that already has tv, clocks, pictures, throw pillows, etc. You can decorate for 1/2 what they charge for all these extras. And rather than uprading our matress, I went to a local matress dealer with measurments and had a custom pillowtop matress made for $200. Some one alredy mentioned RV.net. That is a GREAT site. They will gladly tell you the pros/cons and in/outs of their units.

Not sure I understand. You are looking for an Avon that has a similar tread design as the Dunlop 404s? I have Dunlop Elite3s on my RSV. The Elites have nearly identical tread design as the Avon Venoms. My E3s handle great on wet roads and rain.

Hope you get it fixed. It can be a real pain to find these 'gremlins.' I would have thought bad gas, but ... Good luck -
If it wasn't so far, I would love to meet y'all. Lamberts is a great place to eat. One of the many things I miss about living in NE Okla.

Unplug the freeze, put everything outside and save $$ on your elec. bill. Just glad it's not me.

ABS. You can either get this with or without ABS. Everything else is the same on both models. Rumor is that for 2009 it is limited production. No more than 2 bikes per dealer and orders have to be in by Dec 17 with manufacturing starting in Jan 2009. Full production for 2010. And if you wanted Red, sorry, no red for 09.

My dad got a call from his local dealer yesterday. He has bought many bikes from them and even did some work for them over the last 20 years. They wanted to know which bike to order for him. He was told that Kaw is not going to produce it in the red color. Blue/black and silver/black only.

Whie going to pick up my daughter's Christmas present today (a horse), I saw a red dually pulling a Tahoe fifth wheel trailer (with Florida plates) with a Venture and V-Star behind the fifth wheel. It was near impossible to tell the color of the bikes because of all of the raod grime. Gonna take a few days to clean those bikes.

MolyB is good stuff and holds on longer. It does not take a lot. You might find some other brand than Honda. The service manual says to use lithium soap grease. Your choice.

Biker shot in back. Shooter claims self defense
Jethroish replied to royalstarjac's topic in Watering Hole
My first thought was, if this guy has this "medical conditon" he probably should not own a gun, be allowed to drive, etc. Sounds like this guy is just a loose cannon. -
Is this solo or 2up? Is your bike loaded down? Just eyeballing it, I don't think my E3 is more than 30% worn with 7000 miles. Most my riding is solo, tires at max pressure and I am pretty easy on the throttle.

I thought about moving over into the center of the lane. Traffic was heavy enough that they would have been behind me a little bit. I did catch back up to them a mile later when traffic really slowed. Then they started weaving in and out of traffic. Organ Donors.
