Specifically from people in South Carolina. Will have a place to stay temporarily, and I'm starting to struggle with getting rid of stuff that I don't need and really don't want to move, but I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around the long distance job search thing. Any ideas? http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/images/misc/progress.gif

Don't know if this will help or not, but i just put a book together using this: http://www.blurb.com I was only doing photos with some captioning, it was pretty easy. You can also set things up for multiple contributors, but i haven't looked closely at that yet, and when your done you can choose to make it public and they will handle the sales through the Blurb online store. There are probably other companies available, but this might be a place to start.

O.k., so, I'm a little on the slow side, but I really don't get the Miata argument that I've seen on just about every discussion about this GW Conversion, and here's why. I don't fit in a Miata, but I do fit on a Goldwing. That being said, I have no interest in owning a 4 wheel Goldwing, but that wouldn't keep my from having fun trying something different if one was loaned to me for a weekend.

Try this link: http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/detail.cfm?Category_ID=5&manufacturer_ID=66&product_ID=2090&model_ID=42 this place usually has them for a few bucks cheaper. The current sale ends Dec. 2, but they usually seem to be on sale every time I look them up again

O.K., so I've been trying to make sense of the specs on the GPS units I've been researching and one thing keeps escaping me......how do you guys hear them on the motorcycle? I'll like my gadgets, but I'm sometimes technically challenged. Is there anything out there with just a simple headphone jack?

My only excuse is ADD. I keep intending to check it out while I'm on the computer doing other stuff....... Hey, Look.....A chicken.......

I can't remember the name of the form ( and I could be wrong) but you have to prove financial stability in NYS just to register a vehicle. I don't think they really look at it to closely, because if I'm considered financially stable, I'd hate to know what life is like for considered financially unstable. Wait.....I found it. It's called Article 6 (Motor Vehicle Financial Security), or the FS-20. NY DMV requires it, but since you have to have proof of insurance to register a vehicle, the insurance company's actually run the check. That's my understanding of it anyway. I'm always willing to be corrected.

I've had XM for 3 years, won't give it up. I mostly listen to 202, but big tracks, top tracks, deep tracks, and all of the comedy channels are in my favorites list. X-country is a good one too.

Alright already.....so I went riding ( like I needed the excuse ) and I took the picture and submitted it for me and oldmandex. 3,514 to go:rotf:

Yep....that was the place. We came in on 39 from Mount Morris and had a "planned" stop at the gas station on the corner of Bixby Hill road in Arcade. I thought about contacting you Bob, but I really didn't have any details until Friday evening. Another guy organized the ride and only 3 of us showed up. Went from Arcade to Ellicotville for lunch and then down 417 through Olean and Wellsville. It was a perfect day for a ride.

Apparently I was really tired last night when I posted this. I've just realized that it probably shouldn't be in the tech section. Sorry. Is there any way for an administrator or moderator to move it to The Watering Hole section?

Riding through Arcade, NY with some friends today I saw a blue first gen parked outside a company whose name began with a "K". Told my self to try to remember the name, but it's just not coming to me. Who was it?

Clutch Bleeding
Dexx replied to 93 venture's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
just my 2 cents.......replace the bleeder screw with a Speedbleeder, made things a whole lot easier when I dealt with a similar problem a few weeks ago. -
How the heck does the seat come off?
Dexx replied to Dexx's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Once you guys told me where to look it was a snap. the covers on my '89 even had access holes molded into them. I undid one of the screws so I could get a couple of fingers behind it and catch the bolt just in case. -
Dumb question? maybe. I don't care. I was forced into swapping my antennae out this week when I noticed the old one had gone AWOL. The mast came right out of the base. I was in the middle of about 1000 bikes on the local charity run. At one of the rest stops, I went to get a bottle of waqter out of the trunk and thought "Gee, looks like somethings missing." Once I figured out what was missing I thought, "Gee, I hope it didn't hit anybody." Here's what I've accomplished so far: My Father has an old Goldwing sitting in his garage with a firestik on it, so I borrowed that. If I can't get it dialed in I still have to buy one, but a good place to start. Bad news is, that since he took the radio stuff out years ago, he snipped the cable at the base, so that was no good. However, i work two miles down the road from a truck stop, so I wemt shopping after work. Found a cable with the one end already set up for the antenna for around 8 bucks, got the PL259 to motorola adapter for 3 bucks and picked up what seems to be a pretty sturdy fold -over adapter for another 8, I might not use that, they had another quick release adapter that allows full removal of the antenna for the same price. I think I like that idea better now that I think about it, but it will depend on where the antenna ends up in the folded position. So far, so good. Under 20 bucks spent and only another 20 to spend IF I can't get the SWR right on this antenna ( it's an older one without the quick adjust screw). BUT.....I can't figure out how the seat comes off to run the cable. I also want to install the brake light modulator my dad gave me while I'm in there. So What's the secret?

Oil change question
Dexx replied to Dexx's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Well, I've always used Penzoil in my other bikes ( to cheap to pay for the dealer branded stuff), I decided to take a shot with the penzoil 20w 50 and all seems good so far. The only snag I hit was that the bolt holding the oil filter cover on was rounded just enough that it wouldn't come out. Dad and I really wanted to go riding yesterday ( the VR was down for two weeks while I was on vacation and waiting for the new clutch reservoir diaphragm, and dad had only got his"new" trike out a couple of times due to other obligations) So I put the new oil in and we went riding. will order a new bolt this week and attack the old one with a pipe wrench or something. Thanks for all the advice. -
Yes, still the single antenna. Just was a little confused as to how the Firestick worked. I'm going to get a closer look at the set up on the goldwing tomorrow. I'm guessing that a few more of the components will be usable too and I'll have a better idea of what to do with them once I have them in front of me. I was a bit nervous about buying everything without being able to have my hands on it first, but most of it may have been right under my nose the whole time.

O.k.....due to the fact that my antenna hits my garage door and the fact that the part above the load looks like it was replaced with a piece of wire coat hanger, I'm considering this. The good news is, my dad has an older goldwing sitting in the garage that we can't bear to part with, but doesn't get ridden and it has a Firestick on it ( not sure about anything else, but I'm going to look at it soon. I even have an SWR meter somewhere if I can just remember where I put it). I'm a little confused tho'. Will everything work with one antenna, or will I have to do the mod with a separate one for radio and CB?

I'm not finding anything putting "oil" in the search box, so here goes. What do you guys recommend? The owners manual says 20W40 and I can't find it anywhere. the closest I can find is 20W50 and I'm not sure if there is a significant difference or not. I really don't want to spend the money on the dealer brand.

Well, their website is still "inactive" for the most part, so i asked the local dealer if the dealt with them at all and they do. They said they will check availability and then call me and even let me put it on "lay-a-way" if they can get it. That should soften the blow to the wallet a bit, plus I already get 10% off parts and accessories, so shouldn't be to bad overall.

My dad got some stuff for his trike through them, said he ordered it on line, but the website has been "inactive " for a couple of months. They don't have a heck of a lot for the first gen venture, but I saw in the catalog lights to replace the reflector on the trunk. The dealer search on the site only lists 3 for NY and non of them ar very close to me.
