Here in the state of Florida, which is nicknamed the gunshine state, it is an actual felony if one actually pulls a gun and doesn't fire. Granted each case is different and for the majority of CCW owners, this rule is wacky. And most LEO do not know the rules themselves since is all screwed up to been with.

I am in a timeshare in Gatlinburg as I write this. The local folk says it has been the busiest 2 weeks. Traffic in and around Gatlinburg is horrendous. The weather for me has been a pleasure and tonight we had enough snow for a mini snow ball fight. Very mini. I like it here .

Thought you should know that the book "Understanding Women" is now out in paperback. That was funny:rotf: -
I can understand working in the snow. As a former bus driver and OTR driver, snow stinks. Ice is the worst. However, I am in the mountains ( I think) in pikeville, TN, where there was some snow but bitter cold w winds. I kinda miss that. Living in Florida is great for riding, but I like the cold and change of topography from time to time. I head back to the gunshine state on the 31st and willbe riding ASAP. :snow::snow2::cold:

When I left spring hill Florida, fuel was $3.19. Here in the woods of pike, Tennessee, fuel was $2.98. Along the way, off the interstate, it was a whopping $3.45.

Good luck with this one. I think I would find the lochness monster, the 3 hidden Area 51 aliens, and the contents of Eva Brauns purse before we figure those precious creatures out. Just saying... -
Marvin the Martian is awesome. Great pic.

I am a fairly new RSV owner. I have had the bike less then a month. When I was test riding them, I wasn't able to be flat footed on a stock height model. I am 5'8 with 30-31 inseam. I enjoyed the ride and the bike and thought , well maybe I can lower it. I passed on that bike and found my current one. A 2003 with 24k miles. What it came with was a few things I was going to add : clarion CD player, trunk light bar, kuryakyn foot pegs and most of all, barons lowering kit. At a drop of 1.5 inches, I am able to have flat feet. I will say its a bit nerve wracking of hearing the top heavy stories and I made myself sick w worry. However, I have been practicing tight turns in slow speeds. Parking lots, empty schools and purposely making u turns on the road to decrease the nerves. It still takes getting used to and I have trouble backing the bike up from a hill. That said, I like the bike and will give it a fair shake, about a year of riding. The people on the forum are always willing to help either via forum or even in person. It has made me more confident, but not cocky. My Vulcan is much easier to handle and has less components to break and with more space w saddlebags and T bag. However, there is something about the venture that makes me wanna ride it. I am NOT mechanically inclined, so it needs to be extremely reliable, which both the shop and VR members say it is . If your gut says RSV, and you can swing it, give it a try. Make sure you can safely ride it, even if it means lowering the bike. I am not the first or only short guy to ride one. Good luck and happy holidays...

The latest update is this: I started the trip early this morning and the winds have been treacherous. It was supposed to be a pleasure ride, but turned into a quest to stay up right on the highway. That said, I decided to reschedule the ride after stopping near Gainesville. With the temps, wind advisories, the machine being new etc, along w me fighting back and forth w myself about " stepping up" , I thought I best to try for another day, where I can enjoy the process. I did learn a bit on riding with gear and to pack etc I DO HOWEVER WANT TO SAY THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO POSTED, REACHED OUT AND WERE THERE TO ASSIST ME IN EVERY AND ANY WAY. I am a bit disappointed, but I choose to abort rather then put myself in harms way. I will be doing this run in the very near future. Hopefully I didn't lose any points with the forum. I felt it important to be up front.

Thanks Steve. You rock.

I am originally from NewYork, and have driven tractor trailers through the winters of Pacific Northwest and Canada. temperature don't bother me. Sadly the higher winds pushing me all around has me a bit perturbed .

Yes sir, I have warm clothes, rain gear, anti freeze and such. Thankfully no heavy winds with rain.

Hello again. I have chosen tomorrow, of all days, to take my newly purchased 2003 RSV, on a field trip. Headed to hilton head, SC. Just an overnight trip. Riding solo but packing stuff to get used to the handling with weight in the bags and trunk and top. Approx. 725 miles round trip. For some of you that's miles you put on in one day. For me it's a real luxury lately to have days off. That's said, I will report once there and the return trip how it went. ( that is of course if we are not doomed courtesy of the Mayan calendar prophecy ) Still a bit nervous due to me being very new to bike and how she handles. On a separate note, the custom dynamics tail light came in and I chose the 100 LED. Boy oh boy, is it BRIGHT. If you can not see those babies, you shouldn't be anywhere inside a vehicle... Have a great day:Venture:

Maybe it's the cosmetics, esthetics or just plain ole stubbornness , but I am not a fan of the half tinted shields. Just my .5 cents

Can y'all chime in on what saddle bag liners you have. Meaning what company, model and if you are happy with them.
