Dion, it's a product made by poor boy. I use to use it on my BMW M3. Was amazing and left little to no swirl or residue. I asked a lot of questions when I first had the ultimate driving machine from those who detail high end cars. That product kept being said. They make a ss1, a ss2 and other products. I believe 1 is not as abrasive. I still use it on my Vulcan and it looks spit shine new, and its 13 years old. Just lazier now so it's due for another one..

Did you install your own hitch or paid to have installed ?

Steve is an excellent help regarding these things. Super nice as well. -
Awesome. Thanks Squidley for taking the time to teach us about this great American hero!

+1 on them being better for shorter guys, lower to the ground. Hey, bottom line is the LOOK really nice, have all the upgrades and modifications we all talk about. Is that their way to distract from the real HD issues? And there are a few owners that are super nice people. I do believe most of us have encountered the other side of the HD society. The ones that are so brainwashed, if HD sold cow dung, they'd buy it as long as it had the logo in it... Just be respectful and safe when you ride, that's all...

Can also send your seats to Rick Butler and get them modified. It will bring you down just a tad bit more... -
Marketing is the big wheel here. They want you to know that if you ride anything else, you might as well support communism. Truth is, many of these parts and definitely the clothing and apparel are made OUTSIDE OF THE SAME UNITED STATES they claim to be a leader in American industry. Last biketoberfest my wife was on my a$$, about pointing out the HD clothing was made elsewhere. She was bothered BC I said it to the staff. Just asking... People find it easier to be like sheep and follow the herd, then to break away and be told you are not accepted...( see facebook/ twitter) I am not saying...I'm just saying... It's an investment you can tow around. Much like a suitcase full of cash, only without the oil leak...

We all seem to have our preferred methods. At least no one was hurt Steve ( except for ego). That happened to me about 8 years ago when I first started riding 2 up with the Vulcan. I forgot the kickstand at a gas station and down we went. Talk about EMBARRASSING... It only broke my mirror off. I immediately bought engine guards. Then I proceeded to always do the following: Complete stop Engine off by kill switch Kickstand down Wheels straight Legs/ feet down Grip the brake NOD yes to her to indicate I am ready for her to safely get off I also make sure she does NOT get on the bike until I nod my head and am prepared for her. No exceptions. Especially with this person, who is my wife. The other one 8 years ago? Ehhh... -
He also does other seats , but stays away from Corbin . He refused to do my custom corbin seat based on his high standards, Corbin seats give him fits... That said, shoot him an email and let him know your seats etc. let him work his magic for you. Much cheaper than custom seats and it is his passion and interest that makes it great also. Barry

C'mon Dan??? You should know how this works. Let the younger pup (46) try to help... Buy your wife something nice, take her out. Show her a great weekend. After all that, remember the Nice gift, THEN start hinting about how this ( cough) gen 1 bike will be part of the family, etc... Once you meet her needs, or wants, then it's likely to soften things up. If that doesn't work, tell her you are going to hold your breath until she says yes... ( why she would say yes to a gen1, idk...probably she is saying no initially is bc she really always wanted a gen 2 )

Ok ok... A real CRAZY question... Is there a way to actually ADD an ABS system to the ventures? What's involved?

Last week I sent my fluffy pillow top front and rear to the lone star state to have the famous butt butler modification done. I must say, Rick is the man! Excellent communication, turn around time in less than 48 hours. The seats came back, visually, no way for me to tell. Took my raspberry RSV out for a stroll, approximately 150 miles. My backside feels wonderful. At first it was hard to tell, however after riding non stop, I learned all about what you veteran guys were talking about. Also, Rick was nice enough to include 2 quick release caps for the front seat and did not charge ! I encourage anyone who wants to get more miles out of the seat and your own rear end, I can not state enough....you MUST take your seats to Rick Butler. THANKS RICK....YOU ARE THE MAN.

Venture purchase - Need input
Barrycuda replied to dave_wells's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I would see how the tires are, check for dry rot, cracks etc. this may help you bring the price down slightly if you can point out you need new rubber. I am not as savvy as the other members and may miss a few things but I would start with that. Sitting in the garage may lead to having to replace any fuel and air filters and lines. Did you start it up? Did you take it for a ride? Shift gears? The brake fluid and gear oil may need a flush = $$. Check those and see if you can use that as leverage . If not, then decide if it is something you just can not live without? Sometimes, ya just have to bite the bullet... Good luck:fingers-crossed-emo -
He was most likely trying to save a few sheckles for safety chrome

Great gift Steve !! For anyone who does not know, both Steve and his wife are awesome people. Made me feel welcome the very first time I was at the home. Glad you had a blast!!

Congrats ....it's always an awesome feeling taking the maiden voyage. Hard to explain, has to be experienced. Glad it went smooth...

I show respect to everyone, regardless of what they wear or ride. Sadly the same can not always be said about them reciprocating. If I ride a non American bike, I must be a traitor. If I chose to ride an American bike, would those same people think I am great?

Your GPS is NASA compared to mine. I do not own a GPS. I use google maps, get the info, maps and subsequent detours, then write them down step by step on large index cards, which I sticky dot to the tank bib or windshield. Have done that for years. Yes it's barbaric and archaic but it works for me, even when travelled out of state. Plus I am an excellent map reader for maps at those fuel stops

Wishing Art a full and speedy recovery. A few neat ideas here about exchanging info and the business cards. I ride mainly solo. I wear a wristband from RoadID. This has options of what you want to have on the front of the band such as name of wife, allergies, blood type etc. it also on the back has a number where when on style RoadID site, you can add even more information regarding your physician, meds, etc. they are super cheap, easy to wear, come in different colors and fabric. All the ideas are good if you use them. I wear mine every time I ride.

The officer is damn lucky he didn't choose option 3. I think the cop knew he himself was wrong. Most officers respect law abiding riders. That cop acted and looked like a problem cop that you can not trust.
