  1. Squidley, Thank you for posting your thoughts. I read with a slight sadness because its never easy losing someone close, as I did myself not too long ago. Your post made me feel as if I was there also. I never met the man, but he certainly had a long, and lasting touch on those around him. The best part of a sad situation, is that he left memories, that will last, and no one can never take them away. They are forged from friendship and elevated by love. I will be very proud having a Gunboat patch. Barry
  2. My vote is B. looks streamlined as well as in "eye line" for those who are reading, eating, talking, texting, cooking and doing laundry while driving!
  3. Dion, I actually had this in my game plan to reach out to them to see what's the latest. When I hear something of value I will post it...
  4. Obviously this is a loaded question with opinions that vary. Knew that going in. Wanted to see about pros and cons of wider vs. narrow. As of now I will strongly consider the stock size this time to see where I stand. Perhaps Bobby is right about the handling, I simply won't know just yet. Michelin really screwed up by not having a front tire for us. I believe many of us would have tried them....
  5. I would NEVER take my bike to a place that tries to convince me its the antenna and that its normal?? Really? What's next, the cassette player is the reason why the bike has 0.9 gal on its reserve? Wow... As for the PSI... I also run 40/40 as per suggestion from these fine folks and have had better overall handling. I am sure someone can come up with a few ideas for your original problem. Your added issue is to find a new shop...
  6. If Florida had a car and truck inspection, half of these vehicles would fail. I saw a pick up truck riding at night with NO LIGHT assembly. The front end, gone. Others have windshields missing, with no replacement, just ludicrous... But you wanna bother me about the smallest things...
  7. Well written and agree. I consider myself an all weather rider, all terrains pretty much. No trailer, but don't shy away from adverse weather. My riding style is assertive, and borderline aggressive if it calls for it. when needed and I can push highways speeds loaded as well as laid back and taking in the scenic route. So if anyone has a similar style, I am all ears...
  8. I lived in NY state ( the city actually) almost my entire life. I shipped myself to Florida in 2005. Started out ok, but things have gone progressively worse. Costs gone up, 1/4 to 1/3 of drivers do not have insurance, and people have seemed to forget manners and common sense. It appears that they just don't care. They quit jobs as fast as hey get them. Not ALL floridians, but a vast amount. Then all those Noo Yawkers coming down, it's like NYC, only hotter... NY, specifically NYC, people are busy, the place is fast paced, have to pay $6 for Starbucks, the renals are atrocious, high priced. Not to mention the traffic. The insane tolls to cross into and out of Manhattan. I am glad I left NYC, bc it would have bled me dry. Florida finds plenty of ways to take your money ,just more subtle about it...
  9. Mike, always good to hear from you. A bit surprised on your take on avons. I know about the side walls but mine haven't had that on heavy and frequent inspection. Haven't forgotten about pics, but the on/off again T storms are dampening my ability for kick a$$ pics. Try this weekend once and for all. No call back from your guy...
  10. I use a garmin 765 which I waterproofed with a tip on this site. I use a Baggie and a rubber band. Does it work? You bet! Was put to the test on a run to Tennessee and Kentucky in May. It poured all the way there and back. Dry as a bone... However when I can't use it or don't have it on me, I agree with IronMike, I find a gas station or truck stop and use their maps...
  11. Florida doesn't have an answer for many of the things they do. I scratch my head at some of the rules and laws in place here. As well as those who enforce these laws and rules have little knowledge on why things are. They just say that's the way it is ..
  12. Cool. Thanks...
  13. Oops... My bad, I was thinking of something else. The M+E for the 31st of August ....I am there
  14. Thanks Ruffy, however me showing up is next to impossible...
  15. Did I get in under the wire??
  16. Thank you Iron Mike, for starting this off. I have read some posts on the darkside. Interesting reading. I appreciate your ideas on the tire plugs, so I will keep on reading your posts. Thanks
  17. Easy rider has a point. How is your health? Not just visually but internally? Are you healthy enough to continue to work and not compromise your health? Are the benefits good? Maybe stay a bit longer, work on your health( if ya need to) and use the benefits for all sorts of diagnostic check ups, if possible. This may give you an understanding from a non financial aspect, what may be part of your answer. Good luck and keep us posted. Barry
  18. Hello everyone, I have read previous posts, and re read, and heard every opinion from the earlier posts. Here is my situation and I hope to hear from any and all... ( I apologize in advance for the regurgitated questions, however I am just as confused as before) I have been a RSV owner about 8 months. The tires from PO are Avon venom X. After some trips and dealing with extreme heat here and T storms on my Tennessee run, it's time for tires. I am not an expert or even think I know about tires. Here's the question... The STOCK size say the front is 150/80 16 My front AVON tire is MT90/B16. 74H. Which I believe is also the same as 130/90. So it seems I have been running a narrower tire. This MAY explain some squirrely around curves and turns. I don't know better so, I think it's just the TYPE of tire. Since its time for new rubber, what are the pros and cons going back to stock sizes, or should I stay with the narrow size? I have ridden about 6100 miles with this current setup. I want to know if I can get better handling, safety, reliability, slow speed turns and parking etc with stock vs. narrow. Just for knowledge, the bike has a barons lowering kit, I have not dropped the bike and handles well in turns and curves. Even made a few on road U-turns, 2 up few weeks back heading to Solomon's castle. I am not sure which is the best way to go, and I simply don't have the capacity to just swap tires at the drop of a hat. Any and all information would be very appreciated and helpful. Thanks Barry
