Ready to Kick some butt!
Barrycuda replied to joboo's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
This is the second set of Avons venom X on my bike and so far NO SIDE WALL CRACKING on either pair. And in the past, people have mentioned that so trust me I check...often -
It does have the potential to cause injury or damage to your wrist ( carpal tunnel) as well as being potentially illegal. Check with your state to see if any handle bar height ordinances are there

Nice day for a Gunboat memorial. I had a good time , good food and good stories. Tufftom, nice pics! My apologies to anyone I did not spend time speaking with. Ruffy, good to meet you and thanks for setting this up. Maybe we can work on something out before the new year about another meet. Big thanks to Brake Pad for the extra parts and remembering to bring your other half. She's is a pleasure to chat with. Everyone knows I have much love to Steve and Marilyn. As usual, class people, great conversation. Marilyn kicks butt!!

I tried the JS jack and yes, it seems the engine is lower than the guards making the stability points pretty narrow. So much so, it frightens me. the bike did lift and the jack is stellar, but safety and confidence is questionable. I am going to be speaking with them about returning it and then considering strongly getting the combo of Squidley sears jack with Larry adapter. doesn't make sense to keep the JS jack AND get the adapter. that's a crazy amount of money for the minor repairs I want to try to do. Open to suggestions...

I run 40/40 PSI with my RSV as recommended by others who have ridden longer than I have. I also have nitrogen in mine. I was running 36-38 front and wasn't to happy. I find better handling, cornering and stability with 40/40. Oh, I run on Avon Venom X rubber... +1 on NOT USING AIR COMPRESSOR....

Prayers for you and your family. Like stated by others many times before...no one here cares what you ride. Please stay involved and continue to post often. Take care of those ya love . Barry

more newbie questions

I can not answer on all fronts, but as far the the lights...many use the sylvania H4 gold, or silver for the headlamp. The touring lights, if your bike is equipped can vary from an inexpensive replacement to LED lights that are a modification. These LED lights are from northern tools. Item number: 127757. I went from stock touring lamps to LED over the weekend. Makes a big difference. I am not too far from you and perhaps we can coordinate a time to perhaps meet if you wish. I am NOT an RSV expert, but am learning as I go... Barry -
After reading Steamers original post about the water and gunk , I decided to switch the petcock on reserve. I do not trust the digital read out on the tank because many times I fill it to the top and go about 2 miles and there is a bar missing. I use the odometer to gauge as well. I am not sure why the bars fluctuate when it's a full tank. For me..+1 on the reserve

I see a pic under my post. Is there not one there?? yes..it is quite blurred, I know. more pic to follow -
Last week at vogel, I speak to Mike/eusa1 about his LED touring lights, he says he can help me, no big deal. I order the parts from his fine pics and get what I needed. Over the weekend, all my stuff is here: LED lamps, LED flex lights, soldering iron, light bar extender from slowrollvw. I proceeded on Saturday to tackle the headlamp which prompted the start of my last thread when Carbon one told me what I was missing. then yesterday I tackle the LED lights. It is my first attempt at lighting and after some high heat and humidity in the garage, I finished last night. BIG SHOUT OF THANKS to Mike, who not only texted words of instructions, but provided pics as well as staying on the phone to explain things that made the whole ordeal better. I will TRY to enclose some pics here, but for some reason multiple pics do not take. they look better than the pics and you can still see the LED flex lights around the LED main lights. Mike said to use amber to accent, but I did not listen bc I have a thick skull. I will try some real night time pics either tonight or tomorrow. these pics were from inside the garage Mike is a mountain of a man but is as helpful as can be !! Due to the configuration of my aftermarket light bar, slowrollvw extender, was unable to be put on without crimping the wiring and shorting out the touring lights. I tried 45 different ways but with same result. So...I have this nice piece if anyone is interested, Barry

Squidley, We humans can learn from nature and the animal kingdom. they know and feel and sense things far more than we do. They do not have twitter and Facebook and iPads , to share their feelings. Animals have been around forever and they have this down pat. In fact, many times they know when YOU are having an off day. Glad the pup is doing well.

Jeff, that sounds wonderful. Make sure you have enough for the whole VR crew. That's good manners:) -

I know they all say don't worry, that's how you learn blah blah, but it gets embarrassing and ridiculous. -

This is where I am at from the last post. Naturally I forgot to add this.... -
They ask that you drain the oil prior to shipping. I only know because I spoke to them about it for my bike and John mentioned to PLEASE drain the oil. I guess they have been getting soggy mail...

Hi folks, I have a bunch of projects I want to do with the RSV. They are: 1- add touring light bar extender courtesy of slowrollvw 2- install LED lights with help from eusa1 3- replace stock bulb with H4 sylvania 4- replace stock pipes with road king pipes courtesy of B2dad 5- replace tall windshield with slipstream 6- have stock rear removed from original housing for Vmax 1-5 All relatively easy to moderate right? So I get started on removing TWO friggin bolts for the light extender. Then as I place the extender on, I see that I can not get all the wiring neatly tucked under and behind as as a result, some connectors come undone and there is a shortage on the touring lights from some wires bent whichever way its not supposed to . Ok, I say I will replace back to normal configuration, but let me remove windshield, which is done with no hassles and no broken tabs. I move on to replacing bulb with H4 bulb. I remove the TWO FRIGGIN bolts but the headlamp assembly won't come out because its attached to the head light adjustment knob and spring. I am TRYING to help myself but come up with egg on my face. Can some one explain, show, draw, pictorial, the procedure for what is supposed to be a simple bulb replacement. I have the fairing off, the light bar off. And yes I did remove the bottom bolt. TWO BOLTS shouldn't give me this much grief....And...i still have the dilemma of not only a potential short or crimping of wires but wires that won't cooperate with the extender. ugh....time for an adult beverage. Any ideas or suggestions on what i may have overlooked?:headache:Thanks.

Is he a good enough neighbor where you can be honest? Explain that a hayabusa is not a good first bike and is an excellent first bike for multiple speeding tickets and accidents, especially from a new rider. Everyone should be thinking of bettering themselves by taking a MSF course. If ya can not talk him into it, find out the days and times he intends to ride and stay far away... Hope you can get through...
