Need Some Advice From Florida Members, Especially Tampa Area
Barrycuda replied to bongobobny's topic in Watering Hole
agree with Steve and Dion. Area is fine. Don't worry about catching me. My schedule of spinning plates is maxed out at 98. One more would bust the whole lot of them. That said, have a great time. Weather should be stellar... -
Get well soon! Keep us posted and updated. Prayers up!

Sadly I'm out this weekend. I have a midterm exam on Monday and unless we have professional chemists riding with us, I'm afraid I have to bow out. It's WAY harder than Spanish and statistics, ugh... Have fun for those that do go...

Potential Newbie but Needs it Lowered

+1. I had it on my previous 2003 without any other modifications and it worked just fine. Matter of fact, there were no issues riding the dragon, and taking the RLAP course. -
Wow! That truck is in amazing condition. How many miles? the OP was asking about a bike, as I morphed into 4x4. I like the IDEA of the Ural, however they're not very reliable from what I've seen, and researched, maybe they've improved . For me, a simple choice based on the basic descriptions would be a Vstrom 1000. If we are talking any vehicle, first edition hummer or jeep rubicon.

Sadly, none of the aftermarket seats are cheap. I agree it's a lot of scratch to "see" if it works. If I am not mistaken, ultimate will allow you to use be for 10 or 14 days. They're located in Daytona/Ormand beach area ( closer to Steve than me). Give them a call? Option 2: pick up a use OEM or modified seat off the sites or Flea bay. Option 3 : use gel seat, air hawk or beads on your killer F6B which is the cheapest of the options given, and work your way up to a seat you choose. Option 4: don't listen to anything I just suggested :)

The CTX is a wonderful bike, worthy of having an owner. Before you consider heading to Miami, go to Action Honda in Hudson Fl. They have some CTX, F6B, even new Valkyries. A heck of a lot closer to Miami. Worth a shot. Keep us posted.

The IBA will tell you that SAFETY and your well being comes first and foremost. Always abort and try next time when things are impacting your safety. Now you can learn to prepare better and keep the anxiety down knowing the bike will make it easily. Good luck on future attempts.

Mike, many people modify, or replace the stock seat with any number of aftermarket, long distance seats with backrests. Some like Steve have the ultimate and many many people like it. It stinks that it will cost a few pennies to see what works best for you. Also, a air hawk, or even beads will decrease pain and positioning. I picked up a seat modified for shorter riders. Works great, but after riding with Steve K, 2weeks ago on a much longer trip than previous, it was awful and his beads( sounds weird I know) and my wife's air hawk did help out. When I returned I purchased a Russell Day Long seat. bottom line is, if you really like an F6B and the price is within your numbers, the seat mod/change is the easy part. Riding that bike everyday without grinning will be the hard part

Dion, i agree about no cruise being silly. They could have added that. If I'm not mistaken, the deluxe version comes w cruise but it's not standard

I think from the pics Dion, some of the clamps and locking down pieces are the Sam. This one boasts better this and that and seems to be more user friendly. Of course they could have figured out all this BEFORE the first 4 models. My go pro 3 seems great, use it sparingly simply because the battery life, the remote battery stink, and it can be a PITA to initially set up. Not encouraging when on the bike, BC you don't know the battery life, and what the camera is seeing. I have extended battery and a great suction and clamp set up, but maybe I'm just being to busy to be consistent with it

based on today's feelings: v strom for something different and for not caring if it's dirty and riding in rain and mud F6B for the solo riding, know the wing platform, black looks like a bat mobile aka bat wing FJR, because it just seems bad ass Blackbird. Just to say I have one, wouldn't ride it much most likely Both FJR and BMW sit higher and I'm on the shorter side so, I'm not sure kawasaki concourse also would be nice, unsure how I feel about leaning all the time
-
F6B is a great riding machine that is lighter and has less bells and whistles than a wing. Shorter windshield. However, rides and handles superbly. Do I own one? No, but test rode one and if I could afford another "newer" bike, the F6B would be on the short list. FJR, V strom, F6B, RS1100, blackbird would be my choices, not in that order. once you ride a F6B or a wing, you'll only ask one question: what took so long???

my wife and I have eaten at this place with Steve and his wife. I will say it's an EXCELLENT place to eat. Hope we can all meet there. If not, I'll have to sneak over there on the way home

Go pro now is coming out with a GoPro 5.

I guess we will all have to let each other know. Let's see when Tom gets there and you come back. I doubt I'll be going to biketoberfest, and if I do, it's for the day. That said, maybe we can all meet up and slowly start our Florida M and E ( RTE in GW forum) again. Would be great seeing Dion and Tom again...

Keep us posted upon your arrival etc. perhaps I will join you ( and others?) depending on what my schedule holds. have my number still?

Perhaps Steve K may reply with an answer. He is from nearby there and if he knows, he'll chime in.

+1. Great WV roads that I am still talking about. Bongobob should be an auctioneer. His enthusiasm was a treat. Was really into it also. Again, these WV roads are amazing. Special thanks to Steve and Marilyn for helping make my week even more spectacular. They are great friends outside of riding, and I couldn't be more thankful.

Rode with Steve and Marilyn and touched home at 230-ish. Showered and immediately went to my nephews first bday , surprising everyone there. My wife's face said it all. I was missed... want to thank Chuck, his wife ( who is a riot), Donnie, BongoBob, Steve and Marilyn, and everyone else who's name I can't remember at this hour. Been waking up at 2-3 in morning so it's been a long week. special ultra thanks to Yammer Dan, for making the journey, even though he was having some physical issues. Dan is an awesome VR member. WV roads are totally awesome. Not one straight or flat road anywhere. Now there is some FUN riding. Quality of roads were stand up as well. I appreciate everyone who was at the rally. Made the week go by that much faster. Thanks again Chuck!
