  5. if you look waaaay back, i think you will find this same question???? here's how it goes: guy pays big money for tire.. guy likes tire, feels good in turns/ got cool snakes in pattern guy is lucky enough and smart enough to inspect tires to save own life guy pitcha***** to tire store/tire store offer replacement with same guy thinks whata bargain, i only pay for mount and balance/and maybe life? guy dumb enough to to risk life with yet another pos tire guy jumps for joy and tell friends he got new tire free.... guy hopes to live to jump again one day.. whats this guy value more? life or tire price? or what friends think?? yup! i tried them once 2300 miles of slip n slide and a blowout 5 days into my trip with brand new snake skins.. my dealer offered me replacements too.. no f'n thanks!! as any good dealer would, he offered me another brand, and i took my commanders. Several sets of tires and more than 100k later... i still like my commanders just fine. mike. please take note that "guy" has no name in this story, and does not refer to anyone with the name (Guy)
  6. as posted above.. i agree. the great thing about the seafoam product, is you can't hurt anything by overdosing. so you don't have to worry about a measured amount. and if you let the bike idle while you take a large shop rag or towel and plug the tailpipe for a moment, you will find the exhaust leak that is making the backfire noise. mike btw welcome!! from Illinois

  15. "HANDS ON TYPE PARTNER" I already tried to explain this before, we have to have a look at the realestate in it's present condition, before we will be able to convince future investors to fund an improvement project, and even then, we will have to have some color blueprints of the finished project and see if it will look appropriate in the neighborhood, with landscapes and bushes and such...hmmmph?? mike:innocent:
  16. i installed the polk audio db401 speakers, they work great.

  18. glad i could help, enjoy the rumble!!
  19. the ends are threaded on the inside of the cap, nip a quarter inch off of the wire and pull the small rubber boot off the end of the cap where the wire goes into it, slide the rubber boot up onto the wire, then screw the cap back onto the fresh cut end of the wire untill the wire bottoms out into the cap, then pull the boot back down the wire onto the cap. mike.
  20. installing the kit with the metal screen to the inside of the packing is why your pipes are still loud, the screen is tight knit and keeping the fiberglass from getting any of the exhaust, and making the pipes like straight pipes. the screen and the steel wool will make the packing last forever and if you were in comp. racing and just wanted to meet all the enviromental rules and regs and spark arrestor b/s then you did the right thing. but if you want your low deep rumble, and don't mind a repack every couple of years, then toss the screen and just use the fiberglass material from moose, and yes you can buy just the fiberglass kit alot cheaper, wrap the glass alone and two layers thick and masking tape it together just the same as you did, and they will last twice as long as the original glass from bubs. another thing that i have seen with the screen wrap inside these bubs, is it will hold moisture and start to rust from the inside out and the baffle and the pipe will eventually rust beyond repair. i have a set of bubs with over 200k on them and have had them on several bikes, i took the tips to a local chrome shop, and they no longer peel. this has worked well for me. mike
  21. LIGHTEN UP FRANCIS! there is no way to show sarcasm, other than the little smiley guys, and we all have are own way of showing opinions:stickpoke: go easy! and enjoy the open forum. mike:innocent-emoticon:
  22. i spent about a month looking at "dry cell" battery options for the wifes 1100, and got quite the education.... most of the companies that state they sell a "dry cell" battery, actually do Not. you wil find most of them use acid, just like your standard battery, the only thing different is they are not vented and don't have the six removeable caps, and use whats called a "agm" system that means the acid is soaked into a fiberglass mat inside the battery "absorbed glass mat" instead of being a free flowing liquid that you could adjust levels on, like your old battery. it seems to be a great idea for most applications, however if You are replaceing the battery in a first generation venture, you will need to override the battery sensor with a kit that you can find in the tech section, or you will have an idiot light staying on. or stick with the standard battery that you can use the sensor in. Everything that i can find on a "true dry cell" battery, tells me they are not recomended where temps could get cold, and are very limmited in sizes. mike
  23. The air chamber is seperate from the oil chamber, when the oil is gone the bike turns into a pogo stick. In aswer to your question, no it can't be anything else. Time to buy a shock. Mike
