  4. my insurance company is pekin, they do not charge any extra premium for my added accessories, they do require that i give them an updated list whenever i add another chrome goodie, and any item not on the list, is not covered in the event of a loss. in 2005 my first 03 rsv was totaled and the accessories list at that time was $13,525.00 above the value of the bike. ask your insurance provider about their policy on accessories p/s the wife likes chrome on her bike too:starz: mike

  8. i think you will find the answer to the mix and match question to be very tough.. personal pref. i don't mix brands i also replace tires in pairs, never a single. no matter what the wear amount is. mike
  9. the air cleaner boxes could be chromed just as easy, you could even do both inner and outer parts of the box......hmmmm, now i might have to take the inside halves to the chrome shop??:mo money: thanks:buttkick: i had them painted to match on my 1st 2003 rsv, that looked cool too! mike
  10. NOPE, I'M A WEEBLE.
  11. well, i will toss my .02$ in here also. i ride an average of 23000 mile per year here in the land of ice and snow, and thats just the rsv miles and not any of the enduro's my experience as follows brickstones=4000 miles= several sets on new bikes = junk metzler marathons= 8000 miles and cracking with fear of chunking = junk avon venom=2600 miles in 4 days and a blowout! =junk/fear of death = junkjunk michelin comanders=13000 miles average several sets love them = quality tire dunlop e3 = installed last week 600 miles and great so far+ = time will tell my dealership made me an offer to be the"guinea pig" for a set of e3's and at a price that i could not pass up, or i would still be on the michelins. and as i have said before, if a tire is junk, i don't want another one for free, or for me paying to install or any of that crap. if its junk, i don't want another, not even if you pay me to take it. mike
  12. i had an 82 550 ltd, wow what a great bike! be sure that you keep an eye on your battery level and charging system, as this bike will run like crap on a low or bad battery, or even a dirty connection. and drive you nuts trying to figure it out. i had mine for 116000 miles and when i sold it was running and looking like new. mike. also lived on Arington circle dr. in Arlington Tx. in 1986 when i still owned that (blue) bike
  13. say the word, and i will meet ya half way some time for a soda and some b/s mike

  17. you could do either one. mike
  18. with no packing or baffles, it will run too lean and cause engine dammage. if you run with the baffles and no packing, it may be ok if your not running it too hard. i doubt very much that it could ever run lean enough to blue the slip ons, as they are too far from the head/ heat source and due to the larger diameter of the slip on. mike
  19. guess i should not participate in this thread huh??
  20. be sure and post many pictures of (both)
  21. was nice to meet you today wayne! thanks again for the lunch and the rootbeers be carefull after you get the new rear gear installed, that 2003 rear end will make your bike run faster! ya know? i have met more folks that own the mm edition ventures now , than any other single year..? see you at the lagoon in may! mike

  23. your popping on decell is caused from a leak at the connections where the slip on pipes clamp to the head pipes. hold a towel over the tip of the exhaust as to try to plug the end, and you will find where the leak is at. mike
  24. your welcome, stop in any time!!
  25. when i crashed my 1st 2003 rsv in september of 2005, i went on line at the local yamaha dealer and found a new still in the box 2003 rsv in Atlanta Ga. and purchased it for 11k cash out the door i didn't want to re-paint my customer trailer to match a different slower color. then ended up buying the wreck cheap from the insurance company, fixing and selling it for the same amount that i paid for the new one. here they are together before i sold the first one.
