  1. It's always the same old b/s how come its got a cassette deck and not a cd player after 10 years? Hello!! they put the 6 disc changer from an accessorie to standard equiptment whats the problem? do you want to change the cd in the dash while doing 60 mph? for kripes sake you have the option to swap cds at a flip of a switch...good grief whats the problem? and then just to show yerass ya turn the cassette into a hole to put your junk!.... wtf? you dont have enough luggage space on your rsv?? cmon!! ya want fuel injection?? what for? the carbs work great and ya don't need a 10k machine to adjust them whenever ya want to.... go buy a wing or a harley or a skateboard for that matter and quitcherbichen.... they all have problems and they all break oh.. and by the way .. drive safe and have a nice day:big-grin-emoticon:
  2. royal star venture, and royal star tour deluxe, come with 5 year unlimited warranty and covers any failure other than tires, brakes and maint. items, yet you can buy a service contract that will take care of oil changes and such. all other star line street bikes come with 12 month warranty and an additional 4 year plan can be purchased at addition cost to you.. the plan is called {Y.E.S} yamaha extended service contract the plans that you purchase, can be transfered to another owner for a fee. the plans that come with the bike, are available to all ownwers and cost nothing to transfer.
  3. i put several rsv's together at the dealership over the years, and yes the extra screw was part of a technical service bullitin from momma yamaha... if you look at the screw, it has thread locker, kinda like lock tight added to the threads.. as they had several of the factory allen screws that vibrate loose because the dealer did not add it at the time of install and assembly. it became a factory staple along with the owners manual and never seen by most of the guys in the back room that put the machines together. yes it is for the cb mast. in that same package should have been a set of mirror risors to make the mirrors taller, and would also have the red thread locker added to them. mike.
  4. dennis, do you have the chrome carb covers? and did you loosen or remove them when you did the carb adjustments??
  5. have had it to be a bad bulb to create this problem, even if it appears to work. check and see. mike
  6. nice trailer..........but what about the yellow truck??? and whats under the tarp???
  7. there are several different types of led's available and all have a different range, what you may want to notice is that the lights in your converted flashlight may be very bright, however try looking at it from a indirect angle and you wont see the brightness and that style light would only be good if the person behind you is in direct line with the light. so when your looking at the l.e.d be sure and see how wide the band of light goes, and the wider the band , the dimmer the light will appear.... so you have to do your homework and decide what best fits your needs. there are several styles to choose from. mike
  8. ok krispy, you got the target.. you get to set the next mark?
  9. hey don... slowing down for everyone to catch up to our 2nd gen bikes.... might have to stop and turn back.....they seem to have gotten lost waiting on the wings... helloooo back there????:sign **** happens:
  10. a 1972 suzuki ts 50 and after 30 years apart, i tracked it down and bought it back restored it and plan to watch it collect dust for at least another 30 years.
  11. seen bigger loads on them several times.
  12. the noise is found at steady road speeds and sounds like the noise that george jetson's flying car made in the cartoons a constant cricket type chirp.. mike
  13. i have always used factory yamaha oil filters and casterol gtx 20/50 non synthetic and after 38+ years and well over a million miles of yamaha's of all sizes, and never an oil related failure....it works well for me. as stated earlier...your opening a can of worms and opinions. mike
  14. put that fix in the tech section, i have seen 3 others with the same problem. now you can go back to being nuts for some other reason!!
  15. I can turn the wheel by hand but it wont free wheel Please understand that the wheel will NOT free wheel as if you try to spin it by hand and it keeps turning BY ITSELF.. It just wont do it. It cant. However.. if you can turn the wheel with your hand and then tighten the axle nut to spec, and then you find you can not turn the WITH THE SAME HAND EFFORT.. THEN YOU HAVE SOMETHING INSTALLED WRONG OR THE DEALER ACCIDENTLY BENT SOMETHING ON THE CENTER OF YOUR WHEEL you said it much purdier than i did...but the same in the end.mike:confused07:
  16. in 5th gear without the rear wheel. when in o/d 5th gear the trans is 1to1 and without the resistance of any drag or pull of the rear wheel, what you were hearing was gear lash. the same thing you would hear if you tried to take off from the stop light in 5th gear. lube it and drive it. mike
  17. the long and the short of it is this: if it turns harder after you tighten the axle nut, then ya got sumpthin wrong.
  18. back the axle nut off till it is very loose, give the rear wheel a couple of full complete turns, then drop it into gear and try to shake the wheel into the hub completly, that is the only other thing that can keep the wheel from turning free. the axle bolt has a shoulder that is kept in check via the washer that we spoke of in last text. remove the caliper from the caliper mount and install it last, after everything else works properly, then check back..mike
  19. bet you a rootbeer that you have the washer on the wrong side of the caliper mount!! from the rear looking forword: the washer is to the right side of the caliper mount, it keeps the axle from going to far through the mount, mike
  20. the factory mufflers from my 2003 rsv have zero miles on them, as i took them off the day i took the bike out of the crate from yamaha {yes i put it together myself} they are in a box and ready to ship, make me an offer that makes it worth going to the post office and they are yours. mike
  21. Deb, i have an extra visor, still new in the package, pick a good ride destination with a rootbeer stop between you & me, and the redhead and i will give it to you for the cool price of 2 rootbeers.. beat that?? did i tell ya i like rootbeer? mike
  22. eusa1

    Mazdas?

before you make your choice, find out where you can get your service and warranty work performed...? many times folks will buy a car with no plans of ever needing service, then pitch a fit when they have to drive many miles to get repairs performed. mike
  23. I have a 2nd gen complete rear gear assembly with 1200 miles on it that i would be glad to sell or swap for just about anything?? Mike.
  24. I HAD THIS NOISE ON BOTH OF MY 2003 RSV'S TAKE THE TRIM PANEL OFF THAT IS BETWEEN THE REAR SPEAKERS, YA KNOW UNDER THE PASSENGER BACKREST? IT WILL EXPOSE THE INWARD EDGE OF BOTH REAR SPEAKER HOUSINGS, NOW PUT SOME FOAM TAPE OR DOUBLE FACE EMBLEM TAPE BETWEEN THAT INSIDE SPEAKER EDGE AND THE TOUR PACK, YOU WILL SEE SOME SORE SPOTS WHERE THE PAINT HAS RUBBED OF BETWEEN THE TWO PARTS OF PLASTIC, THEN REINSTALL YOUR CENTER TRIM AND GO FOR A SPIN....AND YES MINE WOULD NOT MAKE ANY NOISE WHEN I HAD A PASSENGER AND YES... YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN WITH THE WISE CRACKS ABOUT THE WIVES!! MIKE.
