had the bubs for several years, and several sets of peeling chrome tips.. and after several factory tip replacements, i took a peeling set to the local chrome shop and he explained the poor chrome process from bubs, and striped and tripple plated with copper and then tripple chrome plated for a lasting chrome shine!!! never found a pipe that sounds as nice. mike

eusa1 replied to Seaking's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
i have hit cats, squirrels, chicken, mink, fox, turtle, toads, gophers, deer, and even bumped an ostrich, however the worst mess was a cardinal! they are the same color on the inside as on the outside! -
"SKUTE1" is on the is onthe rsv license plate, or the wife would call it the"chrome poney" "SKUTE2" is on the 1100 virago "SKUTE3" is on the xt600e enduro "SKUTE4" is on the xt225 enduro the other bikes are not registered and are ridden off road at most times and have no names mike.

baffles out of bub exhaust
eusa1 replied to YAMAHA-MATT's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Matt, the baffle is not hard to get out if you know the trick, and have access to a dead blow hammer, a drill and some replacement pop rivets. mike royalstarventure03@yahoo.com -

very neat story, i looked for the first motorcycle that i had as a kid and found it 30 years after i had sold it, the motor was locked up and the bike was taken apart to be sold on ebay. i met the guy the same day he put the fuel tank up for auction and talked him into selling me all the pieces. It sits in the corner of the garage all repaired and ready to ride, and will most likely never see the light of day again....but i have it back, along with the memories of my first motorcycle. 1972 performance orange and white stripes suzuki ts 50 mike http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b315/eusa1/fasslercollection250.jpg?t=1252718967

Don, i was with you all the way....untill the end,........ultra. i like my venture and i don't like the v twin vibration, i will ride the yamaha as long as i can find one. many people have said to me over the years.... "you would own a harley if you could afford it" Not true!! I have several friends that own harleys and wings and every danged thing in between, and i'm glad they like em. however i enjoy the big mans machine and all the quirks and tape player crap that come with it!! and if you add up all the chrome goodies and non sense stuff that i have added to it, its insured for more than most ultra classics and it was paid for in full before i brought it home. the longer yamaha drags there feet to a 3rd gen venture, the longer my old girl will hold it's value.. the warranty will be ending the last day of 2009 and she runs like a new one. mike.

Exhaust rumble/backfire?
eusa1 replied to Shipper's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
most of the repair shops and stealerships only see a venture once a year, and don't have anyone that knows how to work on more than 1 or 2 carbs at a time, let alone a set of 4 to answer the above dodged question... rumble good......pop/backfire not good, yes its true that it most likely wont hurt anything to let it go, the pop still doesn't belong there. If everything is adjusted properly and exhaust leaks are cured, the bike wont pop or backfire. many members have plugged the thermactor valves of the ais system, and that can be found in the 2nd gen vr tech section, and in most cases will cure all of the above concerns, however it will affect your ability to pass some smog inspections, and offend some tree huggers...oops i mean green friendly folks, so i will not confess to the fact that i have performed this modification to my pop free 70,000+ mile machine the same day that i took it out of the crate, the same way i did the last 3 ventures i have had. mike. -
