I HATE when people mess up my stuff through ignorance.
eusa1 replied to Flyinfool's topic in Watering Hole
while managing dealership repair shops over several years, I have had several so called mechanics work for me, and one of the questions I would ask at an interview point was a series of simple questions and one of them was (do you know what a scotch lock is?) and always got the answer yes, however the next question was do you know why they come in different colors? and then to the meat of the question of "do you use them? and why? probably passed on a few good techs because they said yes when I was looking for no. the guy that invented scotch locks is a rotten sob.... a rich rotten sob at that!! end rant! -

extreme popping and back firing - help
eusa1 replied to cntnvision's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
and yet they swoop in a month later to toss yet another stone into the " I can't or wont help you over the phone, but whatever you did bothers me and could have been done better process" this group is designed to help each other out, not shoot each other in the foot, so if your not part of the solution.. then your part of the problem... it's due to the better idea guys, that I talked off board and shared my solution to the concern and at no time did I hear anyone else in the conversation chime in when I told him what he was creating by performing my suggestion, and that the 5 minute plug was easy to remove in 5 minutes to put things back as they were. However the fact remains that nobody else was involved in that conversation and can only ASSume what was said. It's this type of behavior that will keep folks from helping each other on the site and break it down.- 29 replies

I sure enjoy my Avalanche, they stopped making them in 2013, so I'm going to have to make this last a while

check your oil level before you start it again, may be fuel contamination , see that all 4 coils are firing, these machines will still run very well on 3 cylinders.

that link is from 2013 show

extreme popping and back firing - help
eusa1 replied to cntnvision's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
well, as long as we are not fixing the problem and only making the requested noise to go away, lets dive into the problem a little further: The dealer may very well have set the carbs to all the proper settings to try and compensate for the butchered exhaust that was on the machine at the time... do we know? guess not. and now we have an aftermarket set of slip on mufflers that may or may not have exhaust leaks at the poorly designed clamping system that comes with most all aftermarket slip on mufflers.. do we know? guess not? .. then there is the remote chance that this bike has a y pipe/ header pipe leak at a weld on the right bank, as I have found on several occasions while trying to help a fellow member fix, or in other members words cure the concern. I asked all the questions about the owners concerns about disabling the Ais before making my suggestions before calling him and walking him through the "not fix" procedure .getting shot in the foot for helping a fellow club member is better received if they know all the information involved in the request for help, and they have a better answer than to suggest a dart board of possible repairs that could cost the owner hundreds of dollars to repair a concern that he just wants a quick cure and maybe not a fix for. my idea did come with a full money back guarantee also.- 29 replies

it's not a steal by any stretch, but as for it's condition and the miles along with the 90 day warranty, the warranty could prove very valuable if it has no restrictions. there are several members here in the land -o- Lincoln. if ya like it I say buy it!

b2 gypsies is a great handle and I'm sure if I tell @Freebird where the tracking device is located , then he might adjust your handle / names after he stops laughing.... -
one of the perks of being a registered voter!! lol sounds like some folks here have never won the lotto, it's only 7 bucks here in Illinois

I have both, the fairing and tour pack don't weigh enough to make a big difference, however the wind drag is a ton of difference. everything mechanical on the bikes are the same, the only frame difference is the drivers seat mounting points. the leverage of the wider handlebars on the tour deluxe takes a great advantage in tight slow turns, along with a lower narrower seat height. I installed tour deluxe bars on my venture and it brought some positive results for me also. note: you can use tour deluxe bars on a venture you can Not use venture bars on a tour deluxe.due to wide speedo mounting requirements

I did just roll over the 200,000 mile mark the other day and every inch of the miles was with Castrol gtx 20/50 I checked my valves the very first time at 165k and they did not need any adjustments . and the only reason I looked at them then was due to my first valve cover gasket seeping oil. I change my oil every 3k without fail.

we had the pleasure of their company a few days into their new adventure also, and enjoyed a meal and great conversation before they were back to the road and on to the next camp spot. we love our B2 GYPSIES !! I put a tracking device on @B2MOM so I know we will see her again!! -
I have never seen a combustion engine that requires you to check oil level while its running? most automotive transmission fluid levels are checked while running. as stated above: engine off, engine level, just below center of window is perfect.
