Jut got through moving the left to right and right to left....It has to be a carb thing...the right side is still sounding "OFF"...Guess I'll take it to dealer tomorrow and see about a Carb sync.....Don't have a Manometer.... George in Virginia...

I'm going to try to left to right side this weekend...and see if that left side changes....As I mentioned, the left side sounds fine now....I did have the mechanic do a quick check of the carbs and when I looked at the screen, I did see a slight difference, but nothing great...My Mechanic said it was not enough to deal with...Honestly...I had to look hard to see a difference in the measurements... Thanks for the input.. George in Virginia

Hey ALL: I added the K&N filters with the Chrome Covers this past weekend....Just took them out of the plastic...attached the new gasket to the inside of the cover....installed the new Chrome covers and put back on the bike... First thing I noticed...It did not idle as smooth...and the "exhaust note" from the right side sounded like my old 68 Ford from way back with a big cam in it... Second when I drove it, occassonally when I let of throttle I get a mild "backfire"....If I really down shift and put pressure on the the system, I MIGHT get a LOUD BANG/POP...Took it to a service tech I know and he has thirty two years in the business....As soon as mentioned the problem in said.."To much oil in the filters...take them out and let them set a while.." He said he had noticed that other K&N Filters were coming in to him with more than normal oil in filter... ANY THOUGHTS? HAS ANYONE ELSE EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM....ANY INPUT WOULD BE WELCOMED... I had the same problem and what you need is an impact screwdriver Just put the screwdriver on the screw and hit it with a hammer and it turns it with no problem but don't go trying to get them out without one or you WILL strip them. Good luck, Bob http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/5/5_2_110.gif http://www.smileycentral.com/sig.jsp?pc=ZSzeb096&pp=ZNxmk393BBUS Worked like a charm....Of all the tool I have how did this one get by me...Parts are on..Lookin GOOD... RSV Saddlebag Side Rails_Lowering
Long Tall replied to Long Tall's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Thanks everyone for the input....Basically I see three options 1. Bend the rails with my hand after loosening the front bolt...This 're-shapes" the flat back portion of the rail, which is left as is... 2. Drill a hole in the flat rear portion of the rail its self, slightly up on back from the original hole...No drilling in seat support rail attached to fender. Original hole and screw remain as is... 3. Drill new hole in the seat support rail after alignment satisfaction..protect fender with wood/metal....buy new nut and lock washer... So...Last weekend I did an alignment based on 3 above and when they looked "even" with the bags I thought I MANY NOT have enough room in the back to secure a nut and washer...I even went to hardware store to see what sizes they had in SS...It would be close to the curved edge of the seat support.... Anyway...Thanks for all of the input...This site and the members input is one of the main reasons I bought the RSV in Jan last year...I'll "getter done" this Saturday...one way or the other....May take pixs to post as I progress through the options above.... Later, George in Virginia:think: -
Need some help here guys if you would...I have read all of the post on lowering the bag rails to make the "LINE" a little more eye appealing....I have checked the Venturers.org site...Drill new hole....yes...no.... Another was no new hole..but use existing hole that is their and drill one new hole in the rail?? I was wondering if some of you experts on this might look and the rails now and tell me if they can be lowered as much as an inch...they way I measure it... please look here: http://picasaweb.google.com/gharbourjr/2006RoyalStarVenture/photo?authkey=2CE6TTT04BI#5178871605343716242 Any input would be appreciated... Thank you in advance for your time.. George In Virginia...

Hey All....I was looking to do a little tinkering with the RSV yesterday and took things off to see about LOWERING the bag rails (Per the post here on the forum _Gen II)....When I loosened things up and lowered the rail and set the bag back on to check alignment, I noticed that the "new hole" spot "MIGHT" be to close to the curve in the chrome rail....(I looked at Boomers post again and pix)....QUESTION PLEASE: 1. When others have done this, does your rails ALWAYS look even with the bottom of the bags and level with the muffler pipes?. When I move the rail end up to make sure I have room for a lock nut, and replace bag for visual check, it is not level with either, but MUCH better than it is now! 2. I went to local hardware store and picked up a LOCK NUT for the bolt...Is this what everyone has been using? The kind with plastic inside...In stainless steel... The reason for these questions is that in Boomer's post and pix, his rail really line up WELL with the bag bottom! George In Virginia

Ordering a bunch of Parts (Santa (wife) was very good to me)...Plus I quite Smoking back in Mid Sept....and now using the money normally spend on cigs for chrome....Showed the wife the Yamaha "Lid Rail"....She said they look cheap...Are these the Harley lid rails a bunch of you folks are using...Saw them on bikes in the Pic's Forum. Any mods to the bags other than holes need to be made. George In Virginia..

Hey All: Thought I would post so everyone could check their hard bags for a potential problem....While putting on the bag rails I dropped my allen wrench down between the metal plate in the bottom of the bag and the cloth material going down the side....Big hands, so decided to take the bag lid off....There are four screws that hold this plate on...three across the outside edge and one right in the middle of the bag....When I went to loosen the first one along the outside edge I though it was stripped.....On closer inspection I noticed it was broken...These three screws go into molded holes (stud like-raised about 1/2") as opposed to the one in the center of the bracket....On looking further, I discovered that ALL three molded studs were broken...This plate has never been off before....First attempt....I decided that during the install, (factory) they may have been over torqued...Took to the dealer with the three broken studs (with screws)...He just called and Yamaha is replacing the bag under warranty... Thought you might want to remove the foam thing from the bottom sometime and check these...Basically, the only thing holding on the bag lid was the one screw in the middle of this mount and the material support along the bag and lid sides....This happened on the left bag (from drivers position)....Right bag was OK... Front fender chrome.
Long Tall replied to MrRadi8's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
More that likely the Front Fender Rail acces. from Yamaha....I just installed mine and the hole I drilled to attached the front of the rail ended up between the chrome fender lip and the ornament.... George In Virginia -
I have my bag rails and front fender rails coming in on Friday and wanted to install this weekend...If anyone has done this, is there something to the install that I might need to know that would make it easier....I know I have to drill a hole in the front fender and if I want to lower the bag rails in the rear another hole will need to be drilled in the back (venturers.org site). Any tricks, shortcuts, tools that make this easier please reply.. George in Virginia:feedback:

Does anyone have either of these? I prefer the lighter weight for summer (have been using my Triumph Summer Jacket) and layer underneath... Have looked at First Gear, Tour Master, Aerostich,....I know this is a personal thing, but have grown accustom to the textile....If anyone has either of these Yamaha jackets, let me know...would like to know comfortability of each while riding.. Thanks. George in VA.
